It seems like a lot of boxers are just re-discovering the tricks of boxers from older generations. This is a good reason to study up on history and learn from books and film about techniques so it can be practiced in the gym.

This came from Mayweather, who was taught this by Pernell Whitiker, who got this from Roberto Duran, that got this from Muhammad Ali, who got it from Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis. Mexican style of defense is to take the hit and then punch your opponent 2 times. Meaning they don’t have defense. Canelo got this from fighting Floyd Mayweather.

Personally, I prefer the American style of boxing. But respect where respect is due, the Soviets and Mexicans developed incredible styles and are frustrating to fight.

Ali was on the first who perfected this style. Canelo after getting whooped my Mayweather took the black slick style and mixed it with the mexican style which resulted in a mike tyson, Winky wright, Dwight Qwai style.

I’ve seen this in street fights since I was little before I even knew about canelo. I think it comes from knife fighting and later cockfighting. You see this movement made at the time to time. Both of these events are still popular in Mexico

He learned that from Floyd. He started doing after that clinic Floyd put on him in 2013. (Floyd is actually seen doing it to Canelo in that fight and in other fights before that one) promise I’m not riding Floyd’s jock lol I don’t know where Floyd got it from but Canelo wasn’t the first lol

Canelo, learned that shoulder head roll from Floyd Mayweather. Go back and watch when they "Fought" and you will see 👀 when he learned it.

Canelo wasn’t doing this until he fought Mayweather that’s where he learned it from or are you doing this turning the shoulder and taking the momentum off the punch by turning your head that’s how we were taught to fight at age 10. I see a lot of fighters not using their feet anymore in angles that’s gonna leave a lot of headaches and Advil when I get back to the hotel

Its not a Mexican movement Ali used this movement alot. I used this alot at sparing without knowing it was a actual movement.
