Hola amigos! My name is Mario. I am a physician assistant student at UC Davis in Sacramento, CA. As you can probably guess from my title, I am a first-generation Mexican American. My goal with this channel is to increase the presence of our Latino and Hispanic providers and be a resource for all pre-PA/PA students! I love how your "pops" keeps saying doctor hahahaha. I look forward to more content. I in particular want to hear you highlight how to be culturally relevant as a provider so the younger generations enter ready to show that competence in their clinical work.

New to the channel bro but I love the intro already, as a latin kid myself I suffer through the same thing at the end. My mom and dad just got to the point of saying PA instead of es como doctor no? Entonces vas hacer doctor chico! I love the mexican pride. I'm colombian/cuban but I love the pride hermano. Can't wait to catch all your videos and good luck with the rest of PA schoo. Hi, I am Mexican ! I was born in La Paz , Baja California Sur. I moved to Pennsylvania 5 years ago. I got accepted in the nursing program but I have been working as a hemodialysis patient care technician and by watching the nurse job I realized I don’t want to study to be a nurse anymore. So I am now considering to apply for PA school. English is my second language, I want to move to California because I would be closer from my hometown. Which schools do you recommend me to apply in California? And where is a safe-not too high cost living in California? Thank you for your videos !

Hi Veronica! Thank you for the support! First I want to say YOU CAN DO IT! Your story and experiences are unique and we need more individuals like you to become PAs! Given how competitive programs are, I would recommend applying to at least 8-10 California PA schools. Unfortunately, this entire state is expensive so no matter where you go the cost of living will be a burden. Buuuut beyond financial aid/loans there are full ride scholarships like the one I received (National Health Service Corps scholarship program) that will pay for your entire education. That being said, I recommend you check this list out for schools in California and research each programs website (this is important because each school may have one or two unique/different requirements!)
