Man I hope you’re right. Metroid has always been such an up and down series. But yeah, Dread leading into this awesome remake gives me a bit of hope… But Nintendo always has treated Metroid oddly (and for good reason as it, strangely, never has sold all that well).

Unbelievable, your dad deserves a medal of valor for all the recorded memories, I got teary eyed watching a lot of your vids. My gma just passed 2 months ago and she used to watch me play snes, N64 etc in front of her console tv. You're a gem to YT bro 🍻

My parents got me an N64 Christmas morning ‘98, and then going to my grandparents later that day they got me Ocarina of Time. My 6 year old brain couldn’t comprehend how my grandparents knew what Santa Claus had got me that morning: it was damn magical though 🎄

I had it pretty good when it came to getting games as a kid but you sir had the ultimate gaming childhood that makes me a tad jealous. Rock on man, I love watching your videos! Keep on cruising down memory lane and letting us sit shotgun! Much love!
your storytelling is perfect and dad filming all those epic moments is so legendary
Thankyou for this, your dad seemed like a wonderful person to be around and your Aunt Michelle was the Goat.
As a kid growing up and not really getting much for Christmas this brings me so Much joy. It really inspires me if and when I have children to record all the memories so they will never be lost.

The dog being part of Christmas gift giving is also a thing in my family, Tyler! The gifts are always from either Santa, Mom or Dad, or the dog :D aka Brodie! It's always been a funny and happy little thing for Xmas for us too! Great video man!
That little 1 second clip where you hear the Christmas tree lights playing unlocked some core memories haha
What a coincidence. I just uploaded a video of me and a friend playing games that was filmed 1 or 2 days before this video in december 2002. Watching your channel has inspired me to start posting my old gaming videos in the first place 😄
Videos like these are such a historical treasure. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us man. I was too young and too poor to afford consoles when these games came out. My first experience with the franchise came later, when I was in a hospital for a month and a friend gave me his GBA along with Zero Mission. That game left such a powerful impression on me, there was just nothing like it. Since then it’s become my most beloved franchise and takes me back to the same feelings of awe, fear and wonder I had as a kid playing it. Being able to experience the Fusion and Prime on day-one now is such a magical feeling and takes me back to the days when I was dreaming about having these games.
I’m actually playing Metroid Fusion right now on Switch online. 👍 I forgot how good of a game it is. I got it back when it was new also.

Pretty much all the Metroid games are good! I will say though I would never play the original since Zero Mission is far superior, also Another Metroid 2 Remake is way better than what Nintendo did, I will never go back to the original Metroid 2.
2002 was a great year in gaming. Looking back I wish I got a GBA and Metroid Fusion.
Man I really enjoy your videos so much, you ignited the passion for me all over again for video games. I used to collect retro games yrs ago and have been playing them non stop for the past couple of yrs. I have lots of the older consoles and the magic is even more splendid and can really appreciate them alot more now, thanks so much!
Thats awsome that some of your family members were gamers too. Out of all of the retro KZread Channels this one and the gamechasers are the ones that really hit the nostalgia right on the nail.

Almost cried watching this. Thank you for sharing your fathers Christmas footage, it’s a blessing that you can view these amazing memories and he’s awesome for that. I didn’t get fusion for Christmas but sometime when it was warmer and I must say played through it maybe 20 times 😂 here’s to another go for you on switch my friend!
I just wanted to say I found your channel a few months ago and I love the series. Its really nice that you have all of this footage you can share with us and it reminds me of all the great memories I have with these games growing up. The Metroid series is one of my favorites and I have very fond memories playing them back in the day. That holiday break from school; my family went on a road trip from Houston to California and my dad bought a small tv so I could play my Gamecube in the car on the long drive. I will never forget beating Metroid Prime in the back seat of our van about an hour away from Los Angeles.
This is such a cool series. Seeing this reminds me of my childhood growing up and now wanting to give my kids great memories.

It’s cool to see this era and respect you explaining your family situation at the time. Thanks Tyler!
Thanks for sharing this one Tyler. I was right there with you on being the shy, graduating high school, life changing bit. And this amazing footage puts me right back to those memorable years 😁
This is my first time seeing this channel, and I really loved this. There's something so genuine about these kinds of self reflective videos. They're like small time capsules of our lives, especially when you can look back on home videos - something we take for granted from our parents sometimes. Looking back at the movies, games, etc. that we grow up with helps give us context for how far we've come. That's something really special.
Every time you post a video it makes my day some much better. Thank you.

Closest thing we will ever get to time travel. Great as always Tyler, love from the UK
I remember getting this game for my birthday in 2003 (in Europe it came out in 2003) it was such an incredible game and way ahead of its time. Its still one of my favourite games of all time. Great channel you have here I love the nostalgic feeling I'm getting from this. Keep it up!
You bring back the best memories. As a huge Metroid fan, I really really appreciate this Tyler. Thank you!
Tyler you knocked this one outta the park (again!) What a fantastic video you put together for Metroid Prime and Fusion! Thank you for letting all of us into your life, and family! Love hearing it first hand from you, and your narration! Your Dad was and still is truly an amazing guy! God bless him, and I know he's watching over you smiling.
Man, bless your channel. This is hitting me right in the nostalgia and bringing back memories I could use in this time, missing my Player 2. 🙏❤️ Metroid was our favorite. Lots of weekend marathons took place when Prime came out. I didn’t get a chance to play Fusion until I was well into my adult years, but these two titles are my absolute favorite of the Metroid series. And thank you for being willing to let we strangers in a bit to further understand what these home videos mean to you. I really don’t see very much wholesome content like this on YT so I’m very happy I stumbled upon your channel. Definite sub from me. 😊
Thanks for sharing all of your memories and family with us. This truly takes me back
Thanks for making this video. I also have memories of getting Metroid Fusion on Christmas day. I'll never forget that memory. So happy that we're able to play it again. Honestly one of my favourite games of all time. Cheers
Very well made and sweet. It can't be easy to share some of those intimate details. I was really blown away by all the classics you got! thanks for sharing
Family videos is the perfect youtube content, years and years in the making and such genuine happy family moments. Refreshing to watch these. Video games in the late 90s and early 2000s is something that can never be replicated
Tyler, you are such a great dude. These videos are such a treat to watch.
The berserk anime DVDs are epic! And as always thanks for the great videos man!
good memories of this!! I was so excited about this one because my brother and I was waiting for so long
Metroid Prime was a defining game of my childhood. Great content! I love seeing videos from this era. You had a great father to record all of this.

Welcome!! Thanks for the comment
Great video, this brought back some good memories of Christmas 2002 for me. Just like you I got both Prime and Fusion that year, along with Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 0; I was ecstatic because rarely ever did I get that many games at one time, that was a big haul for me. I remember at the time how the entire video game world was unsure of how Metroid going from 2D to 3D would fare. I know a lot of people were nervous or doubtful it could be done and keep the same magic. Man did they ever deliver with Prime though. The music, the graphics, the gameplay, still top notch after all these years. Thanks for the great video!
That was probably the best day in my metroid superfan life. I was 28 years old. Wish I had a time machine.
Always a pleasure to see your videos.
Your videos justs puts me at a place of peace. A time when I was a child that didn't have much and video games filled that void. Thank you for continuing to share.
These videos be getting into my feels all the time 😢
Great vid and thanks for sharing the personal story of your new family. Your vids always make me smile.
Great video. That's so awesome that you got sooooo many games for the holidays. I too got Metroid Prime for Xmas 2002. I had played but never got very far in the original trilogy, but was really excited for Prime. And to this day it remains my favorite game of all time!
You might be the greatest gamer ever, and your Dad was the greatest Dad ever.
Amazing video truly brings me back to that year wanting those games but didn’t get them until couple years later.
Love this! I also bought both of these games around the time they released in 2002. Also your Mega Man 2 video was so sweet, I appreciate the amazing memories!
Great historic video , love all the footage your dad hit and sharing your childhood memories 👌👌
I love your channel and with the love that you tell your experiences. It's funny how there is always a video game that we associate with a moment in our life and when those situations are rare or difficult to manage, that video game takes on special value. Thanks Tyler for sharing your videos. A greeting from Spain
Thank you for another great memory, I love these!
Awesome video man, I always look forward to seeing more of these days. I remember being a kid getting my first console called the Nintendo 64. I cherish those memories forever. :) Keep up the good work! :)
You made my day, I haven't got to play this Metroid Prime or Fusion, but I got to play Metroid Prime Hunters demo thanks to a very good friend of mine. I'm going through a friend breakup that really hasn't been easy to overcome and then even I stopped a very important personal project, thank you very much for sharing this memories. Take care.
This One hit close to home for me. Made me relive my past 😢 thanks
man, your videos are amazing, makes me remind my childhood with my Saturn and Playstation, every new game it was a discover.
I remember when I bought it with my own money, I'd only been working for like a year in high school and I bought both of those games! Keep up the awesome videos!
I just love this channel! Your dad was the dad every gamer kid wanted 💯. Now im a father of 2, and i just love giving them games and i hope they can look back when they are older and remember the good old times when they got the games they always wanted and deserved. Me myself i did not get so much games when i was young, but i always hanged out at my friends house who had all the latest games and consoles. Those times was epic!
I’m glad you have everything on video. And even theses videos looking back so when you look back another 20 you can see how far you’ve come along. Hopefully we still be in to gaming as the industry changes each console lifetime
Just wanted to say, Absolutely LOVE your videos, Cannot stop watching as its such a blast from the past, I also got Metroid Prime on Christmas 02 and all these years later, Still no game has immersed me into it's world the way Prime did, The soundtrack was incredible, The atmosphere was other worldly, And the bosses were so epic, To this day it remains my favorite game of all time!
I grew up playing Metroid Fusion on the GBA SP & it's still to this day one of my favorite games to replay. Finally got to play Metroid Prime for the very first time thanks to the remastered version & been having a blast.. thanks for sharing 🔥
Love your content! As someone who wasn’t allowed to have the majority of this stuff as a kid, I live a bit vicariously through your videos haha I have a lot stuff as an adult but I’ve tried out things I never knew existed because of this channel! Just got Metroid Prime Remastered on the switch and I’m experiencing it for the very first time in my thirties! It rules! Also enjoying Metroid fusion aswell! Keep the videos coming!
Thank you for sharing your videos. That's awesome that you have build lasting memories with your father.
Wow great video really brought me back to my childhood. I didn’t grow up on super and nes but I did have a fond memory of my first Metroid game, Zero Mission. I remember getting it on a plane my mom snuck it in my backpack as a surprise and when we got on the plane and I saw it I swear I played it the entire time. At that moment I was absolutely hooked and it is still my favorite game to this day. Glad you where able to capture some great memories on camera so you can remember them forever.
Your games backlog must've been huge! Thanks for sharing!
These games were also my Xmas gift back during release. Longest, fun, holiday break I ever had. Beat Prime, then Fusion. Found out about the fusion suit being in prime, and did a second playthrough on hard mode with it. A true high school gamer experience.
Hey dude i love your videos...they bring back so many memories
In your voice and face I see your father! Love your channel and can tell you're carrying on the torch of being a good Dad. Can't wait to your RE Remake video!?
Another awesome video Tyler. Thank you for sharing.
Your dad is adorable. Gifts from the family pet? That's so cute. I did that growing up.
Great video. Really looking forward to your RE1 experience also.
Greetings from the Philippines! I can remember the magic moments during Christmas! specially in year 1990's-2000's. Being around with your Family opening gifts! Glad that I found this channel! So many memories!
I'm glad you revisited this game. I never owned it as a kid but I remember playing it at my parents friend's house. One of their kids had it on and was playing it and let me have a turn. It was so fun the first time I played it and I wanted it so bad after playing it.
I always watched a friend play this game and I always thought it was an incredible concept to take the 2D side scroller and make it 3D! I remember leaving my friend's house right as he was about to beat the game. Never played it myself but I want to try and pick up the remastered addition of the game on switch very soon. This video made me want to get it even more haha thanks for sharing!
Your dad is a legend. I wish I could thank him for these absolute treasure videos . But thank you
What a cool video! Brought back some memories for sure. Thanks for sharing
I love your videos. Thank you for being yourself and loving video games!!
I remember being 15 years old, I made enough money to buy my first console with my own money, the Gamecube Metroid edition with Metroid prime. I had enough money for the console, but not for the memory card. So I played the first few areas of the game so many times that I even lost account. Beautiful memories linked to this game and to this console in general.
Aunt Michelle is the best! I wonder if she still games! I wish youtube would let us share pictures. I found one of Me and my Grandma when she bought me a purple gameboy color. She saved and saved all year to get it for me in 1999. It is a picture of a memory i will always cherish. I also got both of these games played fusion in extended day at school then prime when i got home :) great memories with these titles.
Man I love this channel bro. So nostalgic

Hey Tyler, thanks for sharing another cool video and very brave of you to share the intimate details of your family. With regards to Metroid I recently got into the series with a new emulator box that I just bought. Currently playing Metroid Zero mission. Really cool franchise.
Hey Tyler! Loved this video so much. You were holding one of me and my family’s favorite games in the beginning 007: Nightfire, i was wondering if you have footage of you playing that game? Love all your videos! Thank you for what you do & carrying on your Dad’s legacy !
Hats off to your parents. They love you buddy, and did their best to give you everything. How special!
Playing Fusion on NSO for the first time and it’s great so far. I had no idea that Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion were released on the same day, can’t imagine Nintendo doing something like that again! I had Metroid Prime on the GameCube as a kid but never got around to beating it. I now have the remaster on switch and cannot wait to play through it! Thanks for sharing your memories with these games.
Your Dad seemed really awesome man. I'm happy you got to have him.
Dude, this was Amazing! I got Prime from my girlfriend that Christmas who's now my wife! I remember playing it on my 30in. CRT and hooking up through my Surround Sound (Dolby Digital). It's an experience I have been talking about to my kids for many years now! With the New Remastered version on the Switch, we have all been talking about the Original again. The experience on the GameCube was something Special....
This is the most wholesome content on KZread!
i will say i do have the great memories of getting super nintendo and super metroid as a child. playing super metroid as a 7yo and being scared to hell shaped my love for metroid as a whole
The last few minutes gave me goosebumps. The entire Metroid Prime trilogy is very special to me, but the original completely blew my mind as a teenager having been a long time fan of the franchise. I bought a Switch specifically to play Metroid Dread and haven't touched it since, but I did buy the Metroid Prime remaster as soon as it was announced and plan to get immersed in that here very soon. Great content as always, Tyler! I am so jealous of your Edward Scissorhands figure. 90s Tim Burton rules!!
My first memories of the metroid franchise were spent wandering around confused while playing super metroid as a 5 year old. So when metroid prime was just coming out in 2002, I initially didn't have a good impression of the series, but I decided to try it out when I saw the game playing in a kiosk. I was honestly so blown away, and that experience made me want a gamecube ever since which I did eventually get for christmas that year
You 100% deserved this sub!
