These are probably my favourite diesels.

Particularly like the front windscreens when they originated with wrap round corners, these of course were lost in time due to health and safety

Can't wait for D5705 to be completed. I think there is a Metrovick with the original Crossley engine operational in Australia of which there are sone videos on KZread if anyone's curious what they sounded like

I can't wait either, she'll certainly stand out! Thank you for pointing the Australian ones out - I'll have to find those videos!

Didn't know that Heljan made a Metro-Vick for OO (or that Hornby hasn't had one since the 60s!); curious to see what Bachmann could do for an HO/OO model since there's always room for competition, whether it's a budget model for Bachmann Branchline or Doug Blaine & the Thomas fans can pull off a Hail Mary for a BoCo if any current tooling from Daisy or elsewhere can help grease the axles

There are a few moments in the video where all we can see is a blank green screen, while we get the impression we were supposed to be seeing an image or photo. Could I be wrong? I am very passionate about railways, and I appreciate the effort you put into these videos. Thank you.

hi there, great video, i am falling about laughing about this loco, can't believe it, windows falling out, engine failures, odd bogie arrangements, certainly a chipperfields circus clown design, like the 15, and16, its made my day, so its carry on cl28 with sid james and terry scott,

Yup, another case of British Rail ordering a design without full testing beforehand

I have grown to like these locos since seeing the only survivor It is a shame they were not re engined and lasted longer

Designed at a time when anything on wheels was accepted by the btc? A type 2 that off the drawing board was overweight,so an extra set of wheels was needed! Co bo . A V8 that was useless and still knowing this it was accepted! Vibration so bad that the windows fall out ,something that was recreated on the class 56 built in Romania twenty years later! Interestingly, Hornby dublo produced the longest survivor of the class D5702 and the shortest D5713 two and three rail, respectively. An interesting choice for Hornby dublo considering how bad this design was! But what diesel fan is not looking forward to the day when D5705 makes its hopefully reliable return to the rails?

And to think there were others worse than these... It would be great to see D5705 going again sometime, hopefully much more reliably than in service!
