The QR code is actually called a "rescue code." Its for firefighters or emergency personnel. If they have access to the code it can show them where it's safe on the car to cut into without deploying an airbag if they need to save your life.

yeah except now you can get one here in Vancouver, Canada for $70K Canadian Dollars lol that's almost 80% depreciation in about 12 years! Beautiful cars but my god what a waste of money. Uncle had a cl63 AMG tuned to over 780 hp. With traction control off, even going over 100kmh if you floored it the car's backside would slide. It could easily start spinning if you weren't careful. I'm guessing this pretty much does the same. The power on these cars is insane.

The wide body treatment on this car is perfect. Its so aggressive,, yet classy and tasteful.. One of my favorite cars of all time.

"The SL isn't the most beautiful car" Gives it 8/10 for styling. "The Continental GT is absolutely gorgeous" Gives it 7/10 for styling. This guy is confused.

On a normal SL the roof, and roll bar control switches are located where that one has the start button, the blank buttons are for the wing mirrors folding system, ABC System, suspension UP/DOWN, adaptive cruise control distance adjustment, parking sensors sound turn off, ESP switch, the START/STOP switch it´s on the top of the gear lever, and some others I don´t remember now, on my regular SL I only have two blank switches, I´m so proud.... hehehehehe

You can also have a a sticker on the side window that says that there is a Rescue Card inside car. Usually in the glove box. Doesn't take that many seconds to look at. Not all accidents are life treating where you have to get the person out in seconds. Also I don't watch Doug for his knowledge of cars. I watch him because he is enjoyable to watch even if he is wrong sometimes.

You are supposed to download and print out that security card (behind the QR code) and stick it unter your driverside sunshade. If you get into an accidents, fireman can use it to safely cut you out of the car without exploding an airbag or cutting into the fuel tank. Its common practice in germany!

I kind of understand why Doug is careful. These are super expensive cars he drives in open public roads and they are not his nor is he used to the car's configuration. I would drive careful too.

This has always been one of the very first cars I buy on any of the Forza Motorsport or Horizon games. It looks like a monster just sitting still. It looks so wide that it gives the impression that a semi would be like "let me just go ahead and get out of your way here..."

I think the QR code on the inside of the fuel door is so that if they have to cut you out of a wrecked car, they won't cut into the fuel take, high pressure hydraulics, or hi power electrical lines

If you're on windows just adjust the sound balance from the "playback devices" menu by right clicking the audio icon in the bottom right. Helps a lot.

The blank buttons in the center control the regular suspension in the SL’s which used the Amazing but delicate ABC suspension. Which the black series used a standard sport suspension instead! Which in fact makes this version more reliable.....

Doug, I like all of yor Videos! As an SL R230 driver / owner I need to write a short comment: As in USA you need to have something to open the trunk from the inside - we don´t have that in europe - we need to have the first aid kit always in the "fresh" condition. Our police / transport department will check if the first aid kit is over-time! Also the sticker in the fuel tank cover is part of our law and is desinged to help emergency stuff like fire fighters to help in case of heavy collission. As you talk about the missing switches in the middel blelow the gear changer: You are wrong, the switch for the rove is located normaly where the SL Black Series have the starter button! The "blank" switches are for the electric mirrors to fold to the car, to switch of a towing alarm, ABC suspension mode and so on - but the SL Black Series seems not to have this installed. As you talk about the small light about the open trunk: If you start to drive with the open trunk you will directly have a bis flashing red display in the central gauge cluster, so you will automaticly be warned. Sorry if my writing is wrong, I´m not native english speaker! Cheers and pls go on make such good quality videos!

Hi Doug the QR code on the fuel door is for emergency services if it's been in a crash. They can locate fuel tank etc to help in the event of a fire

Of all cars I have ever driven this is the most insane

I loved working with Ilmor Engineering in Livonia Michigan which was jointly owned by Mercedes Benz Formula One Road Racing. I started a defense company with a couple of Mercedes Benz Truck Manufacturing executives. I always loved the meticulous engineering prowess displayed by the Germans. However all that incredible engineering prowess pales in comparison to the BLASTED repairabilty nightmares created by the Germans in their pursuit of perfection. I shudder to think what maintenance costs for this beast. I have determined in my late years ( turning 70) that I have become so enamored with beauty of simplicity. That's the reason I have become so drawn to the late 60's muscle cars. Especially the restomoded Chevys,Ford's and Chrysler muscle cars. They won't track or handle,stop or go as fast as this car,of course but you can drive daily with great joy,lots of attention,and actually have a manual trans. The Europeans have shot themselves in the head, (not even the foot) building cars that break often,cost a fortune to repair, this car is the quintessential epitome of the German mindset.
