Given Simon Baker is said to be 5ft10 the fence would have to be at least 7-8ft in height (basically 2.5 metres), so not a small jump by any means.

The primary reason why this scene was so impactful was because of how genuine Jane was in this moment. No tricks, no groomed look, just raw emotion. Raw honesty. We’ve seen this man keep his composure against his greatest enemy twice, psychopaths and gangbangers and he’s been fine, but this is the moment he truly let himself go. That’s why it’s so heavy, because we’ve never seen him like this before. Plus, it’s the payoff we’ve waited for for 6 whole seasons.

Indeed. Lisbon wanted that from him, and he finally gave it to her. It might not have looked that great on paper, but Baker and Robin's facial reactions sell this. She's seen Jane be vulnerable with her sometimes, but never like this.

I remember when I watched this, I had to run some errands so I did and all the way on the street and everywhere else I had a gigantic smile and I probably looked like a crazy dude but I couldn't hold myself, I was so happy I was just smiling from ear to ear without even knowing at times lol...

@@tabithaprovan957 Really, I too watched it first time during covid. I remembered one scene, the first episode I saw was years ago on TV, when Jane and Grace went undercover at an art gallery. I lost interest when there was no chemistry or development, after one or two episodes which I completely forgot. During quarantine I was looking for something similar to Castle, and decided to look up that scene and somehow found it. Read a good review or two of The Mentalist and decided to give it another try.

I can't imagine waking up knowing that I won't see you ...the truth is I love you ... OMG I can't get over the lines man...kudos to the writer... fabulous to say the least👏👏👏

Mentalist was and will always be my absolute favorites. The journey of Jane and Lisbon from the beginning to end has been a memorable one. Inevitable but beautiful. The music is awesome by Blake Neely here.

Watching the whole series from the beginning, you can tell Lisbon and Jane always had this sorta old couple relationship. But very gradually, he became more blunt on how he felt. Most of the growth happened in this season.

Heller is just an amazing writer.I just love that ending when there is still hope for two lovely birds

This is the most intense episode/scene of them all. The moment it all became real of Jane+Lisbon couple. The moment you find out he'll do anything for her. !!!!!!!!!!!! Although, I wonder what if he waited until to interrupt her on her wedding day to Pike, but i seriously love this way much better!!!!!

Moments before, he was talking to the ex-husband and ex-boyfriend of the murder victim. They both lived the rest of their lives wishing they weren't cowards with the woman they lived. They told Jane they thought they had time, but as it turned out, didn't. So it'd have been wrong for Jane to wait around. Not only would it have hurt both Pike and LIsbon more than necessary, he could've just lost the chance too.

She was hoping that he would come looking for her, before boarding she expected to see him arrive

She was really, really hoping Jane would man up and come after her. Which he did....only after he did all of that, did she give herself to him.

All Lisbon wanted from Jane is to hear him tell her the honest truth. No more tricks, no more manipulation. And yet I don't think she was ready to hear him say all this. She seems geninely shocked. And she knows him well enough to know he means everything he's saying. She just needed him to say it.

I should have never watched this series at all.. goddammit the ratings tricked me to watch this series.. Is this how heart feels.. curse you jisbon for making me cry...

He literally injured his ankle, broke several laws, risked being shot (when he crosses the threshold) just to tell her how he feels. He was willing to die just to tell her. It was a now or never, full or nothing moment. He completely committed himself to do it, because now he was sure that even though he might feel tremendous emotional pain (she rejects him or accepts him and then dies afterwards somehow), it was something he had wanted to do for years. To share his feelings and thoughts with her, unfiltered, no games, no tricks. Just trust. And she, knowing what this - for others seemingly simple act - means in the case of Jane, understands the stakes, the willpower it needed and the fear Jane had to overcome and she knows then how much she actually means to him. It not just the words. It is a whole framework of their relationship of over a decade he is risking. It is not the words that give it a meaning. It is the action that he took. It is the walls he put down, walls that he had kept up for years. She also kept walls up, to some extent, so she knows better than some others, what this means. tl; dr: This is how you develop a romance in a show. It can go fast, but this feels realistic for their backstories and personalities. ps: Watching this again, I realized that when Jane jumped the fence, he actually climbed up the wall he had put himself. And he hesitated for just a second and then ran for her.

I loved this scene and this episode 💖 The whole case that was fake, the hotel, the dress, all that he did for her, to be with her. That was so wrong but so sweet. And the moment when he realized his feelings, and then - than he could lose her forever... All that crazy ride, him breaking the rules only to confess to her, her reaction and later when she was coming to save him to prison, her confession and final kiss - all was perfect 🥰💓

I don't think she consciously was tricking him. She's not a player like some people claim, supposebly dating Pike only to make Jane jealous. This scene shows she's a woman of her words and she didn't want to break her promise to Pike. But in the end she couldn't go through with a marriage if her heart wasn't in it. Wouldn't be fair to any of them.

I kindly disagree. Jane was scared as a mouse to confess his true feelings to Lisbon. Of course, Jane couldn't confess to her until he neutralized Red John, because he would have killed Jane's girlfriend. But even after that he was very afraid. If he confessed his love to her, and Lisbon said she loved him as a friend, it would be awkward for them to continue working together. He was afraid of messing up their friendship. And he didn't want to leave the CBI in that case, because it's so convenient - to see her every day and not have any obligations to her. Very comfortable for Jane. Of course, it was very painful for Jane when Lisbon dated Pike. He deserved that suffering. But Lisbon moving to D.С. was the best gift of fate for Jane. The best. Why? Because now he can confess! If Lisbon feels the same, she will stay and they will be together. If not, she's moving anyway, that's why he can comfortably stay were he is and never feel awkward around her. Bastard.

This episode was written flawlessly

Unless you think a man and a woman can't be friends, nothing is romantic outside of Jane ditching Lisbon by making her think he's being romantic in Season 6, and Jane manipulating her before she sees it coming in the first episode of season five. Pre-revamp, Jane never shows romantic interest in Lisbon.

Ahhh just watched this for the first time, I actually teared up! I knew this confession was coming a mile away since I kind of spoiled their being a couple (even though it was kind of obvious before that, since that is basically what happens when you have a male and female lead - not that I am complaining at all because we've had lots of time to see the chemistry between them and I adored every moment of it, and loved them both as platonic partners and as a viable couple). I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed - when Jane finally laid bare all his feelings it was so cathartic to watch. "I can't imagine waking up knowing I won't see you". This was the best line for me. T_T

Yeah, I watched all the Jisbon scenes on here before the show and it was still amazing. Wish I didn't see it on KZread. Just couldn't believe there wouldn't be bad seasons or endings for a seven-season show.

Actually, I think that guy saved Jane's bacon. Lisbon was trying to figure out what to do after the woman next to her said that every woman on the plane was green with envy (true!). BUT she's still undecided. Then the guy next to her gives her the up-and-down creepy look, and Lisbon clearly thinks to herself "OMG I have to spend the next four hours mushed up next to this guy." What, was he seriously going to make a pass? That was an EPIC BRO ASSIST on his part. She gets off the plane and hooks up with Jane. Jane owes his new happiness in life to the man in 15A. He's the hero we needed, but didn't deserve.

Whatever flaws this show had, they did this relationship correctly. It was organic and slow and not at all overdone.
