I have to admire some of these Westerns travel to unfamiliar land, explored the life much less comfortable, simple, far from modern life. When I was in early twenties, as Saigonese traveled to rural southern Vietnam able to see how the life was carry with not much at all. Daily meals "shopping" was picking up some crabs, fish, shrimp on the the side of river bank or body of water, vegetables from the back yard. That how I remembered in the very early 80's, yeah and the monkey bridge too.

Well who's this young looking George Clooney guy here! Interesting to watch how your vlog technique evolved over the years. I got a bit freaked out with the background music though, like a 1942 newsreel 😉

It's insane how many waterways there are in the area. It's a really unique place.

I was there a few times during the war. I was a soldier, 1969-1970 Binh Thuy.

not for sure of my wife's town..its right on the Mekong river. she loves America..but a little cold for her right now.in Idaho

I go to vietnam twice a year

THe city has changed but not the country life so much which is good. Want to go back. Last trip 1966-67 courtesy Army Intelligence.

Just 72 days until I fly to Hanoi:-) I'm sooooooo looking forward to experiencing Vietnam it's amazing people and culture but man I have watched way too many of these types of videos and read far too many books over the past 8 months since I started planning this trip because now I feel like I've already been to Vietnam LOL!

When I first moved to Vietnam I was reading books and watching movies about the country like crazy. It was too much. I love the place, but I'm sick of learning about its history... I think I got through 2 episodes of the Ken Burns series.

Cities are different but village life on the world having similar.

You need to explain a little bit of what they were doing towards the end .

Such poverty yet so much life, industry and hard work. With a little better sanitation and a clean fresh water system it could be a proper little paradise.

Great choice of the Wagner. Reminds me of my favorite movie about the Vietnam war although not everyone will get the reference.

I wouldn't eat any of the desserts with ice. They use the water from the river and don't filter it prior to storing it in the freezer. To any tourists who aren't in the know, would probably be best to avoid iced bag drinks or cup desserts to prevent food poisoning.

I didn't even think of Apocalypse Now when I put it in. I just felt in that moment like we were going to do something amazing, flying down the river as the sun rose. It fit.
