The Mayflower steam locomotive paid a rare visit, down to the south coast, here she is passing through Witley & Hassocks train stations, then filling up with water at Preston Part station, and finally thundering out of the Clayton north portal tunnel, on her way back to London, during the Valentines day tours.

Hassocks was a great station to see it come through, although it's always risky filming from the opposite platform, as a train coming the other way can block the view, luckily it didn't happen :)

It's a rare thing, to see a steam train going full speed on the main line around Brighton, there are a few preserved short runs of railway, which run steam, but it's not so much fun seeing the locomotives running slow. I think August is the next possible opportunity for steam on the main line.

I never knew you were into Trains as well !! It's good to have dual interests. You have some excellent footage of 61306 'Mayflower' ...The low angle shot at the end of the platform was superb, at one time i thought your Camcorder was going to be sucked away by the passing Carriages !! Keep up the great work.....Steve.

The low footage is taken with a mini tripod & Sony Action Cam, which is quite aerodynamic in shape, but I wouldn't risk it with a intercity speeding train. ;)
