THE MATRIX (1999) MOVIE REACTION - FIRST TIME WATCHING! AMAZING!

Welcome to our first time watching The Matrix (1999).
We loved this! A fast-paced action film, science-fiction setting, with ultra-cool style. Written and Directed by the Wachowskis, starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Lawrence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving.
AMAZING! From script to execution, performances and post-production. Hope you enjoy our reactions, commentary and discussion as we watch it for the first time from two different generations (admittedly one of us 25 years ago). We both found it jaw dropping, great fun and exceptional filmmaking.

We hope you enjoy this Reaction Video. Apologies if it's too long (but you can always skip through), but we felt the power of this film justified it. It's more detailed than other reaction videos of this film and we integrated more clips than usual so you can see the scenes we are referencing. We also did a proper sound mix and image quality control of the final output. As a result it took a while to edit and upload (in 4K!). We hope you think it's worth it. This is truly a very important film!

Keep up the great work fellas I love hanging out and watching a movie with you guys.. But I think you’re Son is perfectly capable of watching rated R movies with no problem you’re there with him to keep everything in context think it would be bad if he was watching them on his own not understanding, but since you two are watching them together, I don’t think there’s any issue aside from movies with pornographic imagery. You should actually show him the movie Waterworld that’s a great adventure

At the beginning, the Episode when Neo sees the white rabbit, before that he asks "Do you sometimes have that feeling if your awake or still dreaming?". This is actually taken from the Ashtavakra Gita, an old Hindu Scripture where the King Janaka is awakening from a nightmar, in which he lost his Kingdom after a War. After that he woke up he is constantly asking "Is this true or is that true?" Is the waking World true or the Dream true. Then he meets the wise Sage Ashtavakra who tells him, that neither the waking World is true nor the Dream World, but Janaka's true Self, the Experiencer who experienced both waking and Dream, is the only Truth. The Idea, that we are trapped in some kind of Simulation is very old, it's actually one of the foundational philosophical Ideas of Hinduism. Adi Shankaracharya, who was a very important indian Philospher called it a Process of Superimposition. Mistaking Reality as something false. The classic Example given is that of a Rope and a Snake. In the semi-darkness you see something on the Ground and get the false impression it is a Snake, when in Reality it is a Rope. If you want to know more about all this, check out this Video: Swami Sarvapriyananda - Vedanta in five Parables. Best Regards

  • @SamBorgman

True, I was about 25 when this came out. I needed few watches to really get the idea. I think a lot of that had to do with the times. Nothing like this was done before and it was so mind blowing that at first watch all you did was be awed at the action. Paying attention to the story wasn't even a priority on first watch. Now most of the action is overused. And some really good reactors can predict a lot on first watch. I'm pretty sure some of them have watched it before though lol. But they definitely understand the plot lot better. This is also because the idea of AI simulated reality is so common now. Anyone on the internet knows about it. Back then it was a whole new revelation.

    - Did you guys notice the "traitor" was one of the "Fratelli borthers" in GOONIES? - During the rescue scene, the gaurds were not programs. They represented real poeple which is why Neo and Trinity could out manuever and shoot them. - Neo wasn't flexing. It was quick, but he picked up an M-16 in the most efficient way possible. And the low angle shooting was to make it more difficult for the enemy to get a head shot. There is a "duck/stand/duck" technique when playing any multiplayer games that seems to apply here. - They can only summon in things inside the "Construct". Which is the loading program before entering the Matrix.

  • @Cloud_Strife0811

    @Cloud_Strife0811

    2 ай бұрын

The people can't have auto aim. The Matrix is built on a set of rules that mimic the real world. Smith even said the first Matrix was built to be a perfect human world but the system crashed because humanity isn't perfect. So it had to be designed to what our world actually is. If normal people broke those rules, the system would crash. The cops that were shooting at Neo and Trinity in the building were still humans plugged into the system, not programs. This is why the agents were able to take them over. Only the sentient programs (agents) can bend the rules, even they can't break them like Neo can.

The Oracle didn't tell Neo he wasn't the one. She let him tell her what he thought and then she said she was sorry and she hated breaking bad news to good people. This is a problem with the way most people think. They jump to conclusions and assume things too much. The Oracle used this because she knew he wouldn't "level up" until he becomes the one by choice and knowledge of his abilities. At least, this is my interpretation of it after rolling it around in my head for a couple decades. :D

But what I've always said is.. any movie or band or whatever can be "relevant" if a parent can take the time to properly introduce their kid to it and give them context... and that's what you're doing. 6:28 ‘Oh she can teleport or something through the phone.’ You’re a very sharp young man; soaking it all in while paying attention to plot details. Well done you (both). Edit: You should try to be a little more optimistic though instead of assuming everyone is gonna die every time there is a confrontation. I’m glad that I ran across your channel today. Liked, commented and subscribed.

Really cool how well he kept up. Probably one benefit of being a kid growing up in today’s technology, he’s been surrounded by it. Back in 1999 whether you were 12 or 50 it was equally confusing and mind bending.

So many easter eggs indeed. My favourite was Neo's fake Baudrillard book Simulacra and Simulation (opened at the chapter 'on nihilism', though not the same placement as reality), where he gives Choi the disk. Choi answers Neo about distinguishing dreaming or awake with mescaline. Fair enough. I would have loved DMT to have been the reference though. A must try for every adult human in my opinion. The most awe inspiring and humbling experience one can have, echoed by so many, not just my experiences. Glad you both enjoyed, as did I. Be well one and all.

The movie focusing on the window cleaners is apparently a reference to Neo rubbing the sides of his tub/capsule IRL, he keeps looking at the window cleaners while his boss is chewing him out, and it symbolizes him trying to break free of the Matrix.

You may have noticed that when Neo's passport is shown, the expiration date is September 11, 2001. One of many examples of predictive programming in Hollywood films for the key day and event that would establish the trajectory for human civilization in the 21st century.

The agents are everyone, and they are no one. They can take over anyone who is still plugged in to the Matrix. Also the Oracle never said Neo was not the one. She suggested that he had the gift but was waiting for something. Next life maybe..... which is why he gets his full "powers" after he is willed back to life by Trinity

The Oracle said that Neo was waiting for something, it's like some people have the potential to be The One, and since Neo is waiting, that is why he was not The One at the time he was talking to the Oracle in that kitchen. At the end Smith realized Mr Anderson (Neo) was in the area of the hardline from the beginning of the movie, room 303 was the same room we opened the movie in with Trinity. So Smith figured that may be where Neo was headed for and with the radio wire in his ear he is connected to the others for information.
