Ah yes, The Masked Mutent! My all time favorite Goosebumps villan. Actually, his book was one of my most favorite Goosebumps books.

The Grinner takes all challengers, and wins by a country mile. Never have I ever been more afraid of anything on TV before or since then.

Captain Super Captain, Captain Blasto, Catman, The Fearless Ferret, The Gray Ghost, Mermaid Man, at some point Adam West either stopped pushing away or was never pushing away to begin with

Grinner got me as a kid

I remember watching Are youfor the dark in early 90s when at first came on, man good times

For a future Goosebumps vs Are You Afraid of the Dark matchup, let's put the camera from Say Cheese and Die against the one from The Tale of the Curious Camera. They're both more or less the same thing, so it should be a well-matched and very intriguing fight.

The Masked Mutant is better as a book.

Ghastly Grinner gave me nightmares as a kid. The Mutant bored me. AYAOTD always had better scares and better villains to me, because they AIMED to scare their audience. It was rated TV-14, whereas Goosebumps was rated Y-7. The demographics weren't the same, which was why AYAOTD was always more terrifying

I used to compare these two a lot as a kid. I very recently found out both originally debut in 1994. I still would love to see these two face each other.

The ghost from Tale of the Dead Man's Float vs The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight.

One of my biggest gripes with attack of the mutant is that there was no foreshadowing that tied everything together. Since people were constantly telling skipper that comics will rot his brain, I thought that there should’ve been a twisted moral like “If you read too many comics, you become one”, or “Everyone was living in a comic book world this entire time and skipper’s the only one who sees it and is not supposed to know he’s a comic character.”

Clearly Skipper went on to become King of the Pirates using his powers.

The Corpse Monster from The Deadman's Float episode of AYAOTD was another memorably frightening villain. He actually freaked me out more than any other monster they had.

Mutant has a bit more presence in the respected franchise given the PC game, being added into the mobile game, albeit they're not the best things but showed he was still known enough. I prefer the book and PC game over the episodes personally. Still wish they would've had Mutant in the second goosebumps movie.

Needed this bud. I'm going through a tough time. Lost my job, going through a divorce, and might have to file for bankruptcy.

I haven't been able to watch yet, but I'd like to put up weekly reviews for it. We'll see if I have enough time in the schedule.

This is not a fair match up. Ghastly Grinner is arguably the most iconic AYAOTD villains. The Masked Mutant doesn't even crack Goosebumps Top 5. Pair him against Slappy or the Haunted Mask, then it'd be a fair fight 😅

I dunno who he could be paired off against, but one AYAOTD villain that still haunts me to this day is the Fire Ghost.

I was terrified to stare deep into fire for years because of that episode

I have been searching for like 20 years for the show that scared me when i was little ans i finnally found it. The grinner haunted me more than any movie i saw. Probably waa just too young. Happy i found it but still kinda scary lol

These are my favorite episodes of both shows. I've now got to ask to see what people say about it but I have to as who would like to see these characters show up in real comics? I can see them showing up in DC Comics or Marvel if Disney wasn't in control. But also in the TV series of either.

i didnt like the actor who played the masked mutant in the tv show. I felt he overacted the part and laughed too much. he seemed too much like a disney villain
