You recently made the comment in another video that a lot of your viewers come here only to hear your intro song/music. I've just watched a couple of other videos about this amp and it has just made me understand your point: yours is the only channel that I don't quickly skip forward through the intro. Testament to your taste, tone, songwriting and chops. I really like hearing your opinion on gear of course - but it's the fact that it is always given within a creative musical context that makes it truly great. Thanks Pete.

That applies to me. I usually don't have access to the sort of gear that gets displayed on his channel. But I just marvel at the song pieces Pete creates to showcase just about anything. Endless creativity with superb chops, and musical good taste. Everything sounds like a song.

I agree 100%! I love the way all the details are walked through and explained. But it's just awesome and helpful to hear the songs, along with the different guitars being used. It gives a great overview of the sonic possibilities. The amount of time put into producing these videos must be staggering!
Incredible playing as ever mate!
Hi Pete. Thank-you. Your demos are just the best. Your heart is all in there. I can honestly say I love them. Thanks again
Pete, As always what a great review and description of this amp. Loving all the different guitars on this showcase. Both you and the amp sound Awesome. All the best.
Thank you Pete! The Marshall sounds great Thanks for the awesome tour!
Excellent demo of this amp Pete. 🙌 I’m thoroughly enjoying this new version of the Studio 20 series as well.
Great Job Pete!! The amp sounds great and your playing even better!
Hey, Pete! I just want to tell you how much I appreciate how you demonstrate the full range of tones on marshall style amps. Most guys just show that one thing that everybody already knows they do. You are a treasure!🤘
Hey Pete, great job on the vid! Amp sounds killer and as usual you showcased it beautifully! Thanks...
Sounds awesome. Great job as usual. Loved the tele sound with it.

I second the tele sound. ... Damn, I could never get myself to be, what do we call it, Fender/Gibson agnostic. That is, I could never get the proper feel of a Gibson (though PRS got me close, even the SE's). So, I'm super jealous that Pete selects lines of guitars like Bob Ross picks shades of his pallet. He's the expert, and I am not.
Great playing Pete!!! I have the SV20 hooked up to a Marshall 4x12 and its a dream rig! With a treble boost in front of it, its heavenly.
Man what a great demo of the Marshall...fantastic,melodic chords..killer tone...articulate description of the amp..well done...great job Mr. Thorn..enjoyed the hell out of it !
Marshall are killing it. I bought the SV20 head in 2021 after seeing Studio Rats' video about it and the Silver Jubilee (still on the list). It absolutely does the thing! The Plexi Super Lead thing! I had been chasing all sorts of mimics and didn't even know that amp existed. It will live in my studio forever! And now...this will also! Sweet video with the perfect soundtrack, as usual, Pete!
Fantastic sounding amp, and great playing/demo as usual. I've found with a lot of amps I've played that have a low power/wattage switch, the lower power setting doesn't really reduce volume much, but reduces headroom, so you get breakup and saturation sooner. But it still will sound loud in the room.
Pete, you consistently present the most useful reviews of amplifiers on the tube. I most appreciate that you play straight into an amp without effects, enough so that one can hear the sounds which can be produced by the amp alone. It's cool that you also use the effects you prefer to achieve your own desired tone, as well, but most reviews by others, just cover up the sound of the amp with effects, and never let the audience hear what an amp can do on it's own. Conversely, when I want to watch a vid of effects, I want to hear them through a clean sounding amp, primarily to find what the effects have to offer, but then it's good to hear them through a variety of amps that might affect how the effects might sound in actual application. I dig your playing, too. From what I have gathered about this amp from a variety of sources, is that the Marshall JTM Studio, uses a solid state rectifier, but the amp is cathode biased, which makes it perform similarly to a tube rectifier. Personally, I don't care for sag which can result with tube rectifiers, but I didn't notice any in your demonstration, so it seems that sag is not present unless the amp is pushed harder than you pushed it, here. This is the last video I need to see, to now decide to buy this amp.
Stellar playing as always Pete! Love the jtm cleans. Interested in this one
Best demo of this out there. Well done - as ever - Pete
What a beautiful intro… would have been sold on that amp without anything beyond THAT alone! Awesome video, as always, Pete!! Thank you
All the parts sound really really good in the mix. Well done Marshall!
There is just something about you and ypur playing in conjunction with a Marshall (style) amp that's just magical. You really understand those circuits and really bring to the top of their game. And that brings you on the top of your game playingwise as well. Another awesome demo, once again Pete, thanks!

Dear Mr Thorn - thank you! This is not only a great demo of a wonderful new @marshallamps product, more importantly - to me at least - it is a seminar on tone and how to use such classic-style amps. Learned so much and always great to hear your terrific playing. Thanks again.

Well done Pete! You should be doing reviews for all of the gear out there. Your style of play is uniquely, yours, and it just makes me smile! That amp is gorgeous, and sounds so reminiscent of me growing up if that makes sense. Plus looks killer to. Thanks so much Pete you are appreciated.

I was just thinking in the intro how cool it would be if the Tele was the main guitar used for this video, and then it was. Love a tele and plexi combo.
Really great sounding amp! Love it! The opening song was really cool! 👍👍
Yet another killer intro there Pete👍 Gorgeous Les Paul too😊
Best shoot out vid on this I've seen, cheers from Canada....you're great Pete thx for the vids
Awesome song! Everything sounds great and I love your solos! Inspired!
Another top demo Pete. Love your playing
That is a GREAT classic rock / Americana-Rock sound. Excellent song, too, Pete.

The only review of this amp I‘ll ever need
Love the snappy design and has GREAT tone. Thanks as always, Pete. Addendum: Being a Mesa guy, I would love to have this in the fold.
Well, that was incredible! Great job/review as usual Pete...
Yeah that's cool. Thanks for the historical break down I'd probably go for the 45. Love the look and all the different guitars you played makes the review.
Thanks for coming to Valdosta. You surprised me, I didt realize you were on the road. Great show, you sounded perfect of course.
That is my favorite of the series, though the Plexi-style amp is great. Another excellent demo, Pete. Your tunes are so good, too.
Amazing as always, Pete - such a tasteful player!
Man, just revealed today! Glad you got one and your video will sell them like hotcakes. You are the man Pete!
Pete always sounds top shelf, he gets every drop of tone out of an amp.
Awesome playing and that Marshall sounds great!
I just found your channel a few days ago and the first thing you said was "hello amplifier freaks" and I subscribed right then! Your content is awesome! Thanks for all the info! Especially the EL 34 tube "shootout" .... amazing!

Loved that jam and tone! Thanks Pete! I bought a couple of the 50th anniversary 1 watt Marshalls years back. Never thought I'd say this, but they have come to be my fav recording amps (for years now). Paired with a few pedals I get the vintage tones at volumes you can talk over. Volume is too low for gigs, but great for home.

Great review to one of the holy grail amps...that riffage on the tele is sic! then the slide licks are like buttah! 😎
That slide tone was especially nice...seems like a really versatile amp,
Excellant demo Pete !

I think this is my new favorite Marshall
That Suhr neck pickup sounds amazing through the amp. I think JTMs have some of my favorite slightly driven clean sounds.
Dude I watch 4 or 5 guitar videos a day, and you have never been recommended. I found this because I searched for the JTM 20. You should complain. Anyway, subscribed! You are the best guitar player doing gear reviews, and you can tell Rhett Schull I said so.
@pharmerdavid1432

Rhett has gotten better over the years, maybe not in Pete's class, but better than most. There are some other channels that get "worshipped" and I don't like their guitar playing at all even IF they are "studio guitar players".
Baaaaaaaam! Sounds so good! That Danelectro is really beautiful.
Probably the best intro you’ve ever done!
Real nice demo very cool amp keeping it simple and not just a one trick pony.
2:05 - 3:08.... basically a perfect guitar lesson. Gonna study that chord progression. Love it. Thanks.

Pete this is absolutely killer!the song, the riffs just everything and that Marshall is just the best in this series of mini 20w amps!I like this even more than the plexi and jubilee!the song is like if Keith Richards and Jimmy Page joined forces and invited Angus Young for tea and he says wait my good friend Pete Thorn would play a perfect lead on this!

Best video I have seen on the amp. I'm not surprised with Pete
I think they're sweet...pretty too. I love what Marshall has done with that Studio line.

Hey @Pete - killer tones and of course killer tunes!!! Sounds like a great amp … see you on #sundaylive!
Watched a few demos on this amp recently but really need to see Pete abuse it to get a feel for it. Well done young man!!
Great track Pete!
Killer intro track! Loved it!
Marshall's Studio Series is just brilliant.I have the SV20 , which I think covers this tone along with my pedals.
Enlightening on the amp I have this amp in the combo and I love it and you helped me to be able to utilize it more and I agree it takes pedals well and reverb thru the e loop love pedals
Excellent demo as per usual. The overdubbed guitars sit great together. Too often modern amps with more sizzle cause a “sizzle soup” which can cause ear fatigue.
Fantastic sounding amp and demo (as always, Pete!). I really like what Marshall is doing with these 20W amps as of late and this is no exception. Back about 15 years ago I had the pleasure of playing a few of the early coffin logo JTM45's that Vic Mason had bought and was selling through the Plexi Palace. To this day those amps were by and far the greatest sounding and playing amps of my life. Funny how Jim, Ken Bran and Dudley Craven did such an incredible job the first time out. Like you said, it's not for everyone, but I think this captured a lot of the spirit of those early JTM45's. Might have to look into one. Thanks Pete!

Steve, I know you demo-ed the Mojave Plexi-45 for Victor and I have one of those amps and this Marshall seems to have a lot of similarities. This amp is going to be a huge winner for Marshall.
@SteveOuimette
Жыл бұрын
@@mobydick3895 Yeah, wow that was a long time back and actually the same era of when I played the real deals at Vic's place. I agree, these sound fantastic and should do very well for Marshall.
@mobydick3895
Жыл бұрын
@@SteveOuimette I noticed the output jacks on the back Marshall seemed to have done exactly what Victor was doing with the Mojave amps, putting multiple output jacks on it rather than those old Marshall impedance selector switches. Did you like the Mojave Plexi-45? Mine has KT-66 output tubes and I plug a "52 Hot Rod"Telecaster into it and it has slightly hotter pickup so I plug into one of the low gain channel jacks and man that thing just sounds heavenly with that Chewy, Tom Petty kind of sound.
@SteveOuimette
Жыл бұрын
@@mobydick3895 Yeah, those old selector switches became a real problem when they'd pop out. Almost lost a Plexi head to that one time. It's just smarter to have the jacks. The Plexi-45 was a great amp. I did a round up of various makes of JTM-45's for Premier Guitar back then and really liked the Germino and a few others. They were all just great variations on that flavor. My particular Plexi-45 was a bit stiff, but I think that could have easily been remedied with a bias adjustment or perhaps different tubes. Vic and Craig make solid amps and are wired to ridiculous tolerances. Just works of art inside and out.
I like this Marshall and love your chops!
Great playing dude!
I DIDNT KNOW THIS WAS COMING AND I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED. FUCK YES. LOVE YOU MARSHALL. THANK YOU FOR GIVING THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT (not you Code series).

That might be the best looking amp on the planet. Awesome demo as usual.
I love everything about this video/review. I just wish you could have played a few things on a Strat although your sig guitar can approximate that. No complaints whatsoever. Mine's already ordered. Thanks Pete!
the intro jams are ALWAYS 🔥
Cool amp presentation!!!
Gonna get this to pair with my SV20!
Pete- your intros are ALWAYS Bliss! Id love to hear a Soldano SLO pedal or Diezel pedal through this 😛 Fulltone OCD? I have a feeling it could Rip🔥🎸🎶
Man, great playing!
Love this series
Great review!
This riff was killer always making great content And my god the sound of this marshall blew my socks off. What LP style guitar is that? The top on it is gorgeous
Hi Pete Got Some New Marshall Studio Amps?? And I really LOVED the sound! Most will go for the Dirty Marshall. But I'm really Digging this one and it Doesn't Break Your Back moving it! And the Tune was killer and later adding just enough boost in front of her Really Sounded Like Molly Hatchet, Skynyrd, Outlaws, Allman Brothers just right Southern Rock! Thanks PETE 🤘🎸🤠

Wonderful sounds and playing. Pete you can dial in a Marshall like no other. Why don't you make some JCM800 Kemper profiles and put them up for sale? Love the way you dial those amps in - nice and trebly.

I figure if Pete can get an amazing sound out of an amp, then us mere mortals can too!
Great demo Pete. Thank you very much. I love your great playing combined with the sound of this amp. From what I understand, Jim Marshall, Ken Bran and Dudley Craven decided to design and build the JTM based on the Fender Bassman using parts available in the UK. What do you think? How does this ST20H sound like compared to a vintage Bassman?
