For anyone that reads this, As great as their first albums are, their most recent albums are in my opinion, just as amazing. They grew as they lived on and so their music changed. The emotional connections we make with music when we are younger is amazing and so powerful and I thank god for it. AND, to me it seems to get in the way of people being able to see and feel the beauty and magic in these incredible artist's later work. Case in point, most people Love TMV first couple albums and then they fell off of connecting to their albums as they released them and got stuck in the opinion of "not as good as the first one" or whatever album. So many people missing out on master's works as they get more masterful because of this opinion so many people fall victim to. All genres of music too. I just met a man last night with a WuTang shirt on and I said hi, and I had just finished listening to Nas's newest album and I mentioned that to him and he said "Nas is too old." I told him he is in Master form right now and the last 6 albums he's released since 2020 are mind blowingly masterful. The guy hasnt listened to him in ages, he said. And that's where that opinion comes from. Ignorance of openly and unbiasedly really being able to hear an artist's Now work. Listen to Nocturniquet and you will hear a fucking brilliant, insane, wild, unique album. Then Listen to the new self titled one and you will hear a completely different band! and a record with softer textures and a gentler approach, with gorgeous complex melodies and deep deep sonics. Fucking Amazing. Don't miss out on the brilliant work by the people you once loved dearly because you are comparing it to that past work. The Comparing is what gets in the way of the Hearing. Peace

I don't think It's just comparing, I think there old works were pretty good despite the pretentious ambient noise, the new work is sort of a basic pop album, I think you might just like it because it's from an artist you already like, so coming into it, you already think it's going to be good and hear it through that filter, if that makes sense. For example, the first time I listened to Gay? by the 12RODS, I thought it was amazing and it would grow on me simply because pitchfork gave it a ten, I listened to it recently after hearing more music and finding out that it was generally disliked and found it quite boring, I think it's all about perspective.

Unpopular opinion: Rick Ruben producing their first album made The Mars Volta. Without Ruben putting them on the map they would have just faded away in obscurity.

It is obscure music Amputechture imo is their best album. It is so weird, so strange, periods of madness and freedom of doing what you want with an album.

As a die-hard TMV fan I was taken aback by the 2022 album. And I actually think most of those songs work BETTER in an acoustic form, as released in 2023.

If you were to include At the drive albums in this list, where would Relationship of Command place? For me that is the best album the guitarists and singer have worked on

What amazes me most with volta fans is there does not seem to be an agreed upon order. Most people put deloused and Francis in top three, but after that, it's anyones guess. I have never known another band like it. I'm a year in on MV now and my list changes every month 😂

What about Scabdates and Tremulant? I guess Tremulant might not be here because it's an EP, but still.

No such thing as a bad TMV album. They're all the best!

I am so tired of people saying their favorite artist has no bad albums, just because some of their albums are good, doesn't mean they're all good, that's just looking at it through sort of rose tinted glasses, I would say there are maybe 2-4 good ones at most.

@@lukecoleman3643I don't see the harm in letting people just enjoy their music however they want. I mean I understand where you're coming from but still
