THANK you, all who contributed to this enlightening account. I was an "Air Force Brat," among many of my cohorts in Riverside, who arrived here because of Air Force officer fathers.

I spent 23 yrs in the AF. While stationed at RAF Mildenhall, England, I served with March ARB C-141 crews flying around the clock non-stop in direct support of Operation Enduring Freedom & Iraqi Freedom. They were true professionals with dedication and full of knowledge. I served again with March C-141 crews in Incirlik, Turkey ferrying Taliban prisoners to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I learned a lot from March personnel. I enjoyed watching this amazing video on March’s history. I’m not surprised with the awesome caliber of personnel March has contributing to the Air Force Mission. I wanted to be part of the March team, however, I stayed on active duty but my path still had me working on March C-17s. It was always fun having a connection with March while serving! Thanks for sharing!😃

I lived next door to March AFB for 13 years. My best friend was a military brat and I loved attending sleepovers at her house and hanging out with the neighborhood kids on base. The town definitely changed when March transitioned to a reserve base. Most of the military families moved off base or out of town. This hurt Moreno Valley’s economy big time.

Nice to find this video! I was lucky enough to be stationed at March in 1962 and 1963, in Fire Department Crash and Rescue. March AFB and surrounding areas were fantastic places for a young man from East Texas. Sad to see it now is a housing development.

I have visited the museum several times. Once I met an elderly gentleman who told me that he had flown the P-38 ligtning in Italy for over 30 missions. Somewhere I still have the picture of him in front of the plane.

I was on active duty with the USAF from 1965 until Dec 1968. In the 1970s I was in the USAF Reserves at March ARB in Riverside. I was assigned to the 452nd Air Refueling Wing. My dad was a co-pilot on the B-17 for 35 combat Missions assigned to the 452nd Bomb Group in Deopham Green, England before the 452nd moved to March Field in Riverside, California. Strange that both my dad and I were apart of the 452nd...just two different wars in different parts of the world.

Does anyone remember the big hanger on the base that had the big letters on it that said PRIDE? My dad was a staff sergeant at march in the 60s. He used to take me with him on father/son day. I was so proud to meet some of the great people he worked with and the highlight was to ride along with him and his crew in a C119 flying box car to the end of the runway to do a maintenance run up. Thoughs where the days when I felt safe in the United States, knowing that our military would always keep us safe. May God bless our men in uniform and all that is near and dear to them and always keep them and our great country safe.

My dad was assigned to March in 1966. It was my fourth base in my short six year life, but luckily it was my last as a dependent. I went to three different elementary schools, Midland, Alessandro, and Sunnymead. I matriculated to Alessandro Junior High School and graduated from Moreno Valley High School in 1978, two years before I started my own Air Force career. In my career Moreno Valley, nee Sunnymead, was my home of record, but I consider March Air Force Base as my home town. It is where I learned to bowl, had my first kiss, and just south of Arnold Heights, where my father is buried.

My nephew is in the AF Reserve at March. The air museum there is the shit! I remember seeing the C-141s, KC-135s, B-52s and F-16s they had there back before it was turned into an ARB! I think there's Galaxys and Globe Masters there now. The base still looks great!

Glad to have your nephew as part of Team March! The March Field Air Museum actually is a private, civilian organization and not part of the base, but we have a great relationship with them and it is awesome, we agree! We currently have C-17 Globemaster IIIs, KC-135 Stratotankers (both Air Force Reserve), F-16s, and MQ-9 Reapers (both Air National Guard). We appreciate your support!
