I agree with Elias Cuevas, EVERYONE in mexico owns a few bars of Zote soap, we love it!!! it's the best for: *pre-soak your kids white socks *cut a piece and place it in your garbage can (not in the bag, but in the actual trash can 😆) helps eliminate odors! *great for baby formula stains *wash dishes *wash make up brushes *great to remove dry flaky coulis on your feet!! 👍👍 *I grew up in the 80s so i used white keds sneakers and ZOTE would remove any grass stains and brighten them! *great for acne! I promise this soap will dry out the acne and magically make your pimples dissappear! ! *my aunts in mexico used it to remove the "mask of pregnancy " also known as melasma that some pregnant women get during pregnancy!! I can go on and on of many uses for this fantastic affordable soap!! 😆

Hi, Liz, it's not about pregnancy 'smells' but pregnancy mask which is a discoloration of the skin during pregnancy. Women say it helps with this. Do some major research first before trying though. I could not say on this as I did not have Zote soap around while I was pregnant, which was many years ago. We have eight children and hubby teaches medicine; he says this is unfounded science. I would agree as I have only ever heard women who 'say' that it works for lightening this condition. Here is a webpage on the subject. www.babycenter.com/0_skin-darkening-during-pregnancy_222.bc

Just to let everyone know that T*DE has a smear campaign to stop us all from teaching/making our own detergents, by posing as reg ppl and saying that the homemade detergents ruined their expensive clothes and streaked it like bleach! This is un-true and it is a SMEAR CAMPAIGN; paid through commissions to ppl, from P& 9G co...who has said in the newspaper they are losing money in sales each month over this homemade detergent phenomena! P&G has used smear campaigning for decades! They did it to Amway, who won their law suit against P&9G a few years ago...and they did it to Crest Brand, and lost a lawsuit, they tried to smear many other companies as well. They only want your paycheck. they do not care about us or our safety of water and health. KEEP shoving that money back in your OWN WALLET guys and dolls! Make it yourself, use less chemicals in our wash and water waste system in our drinking water system too... T8DE panicking is a sign we are winning the war on cancer causing chemicals in our households! Do not pander to these companies...keep on truckin' and share this statement across the board! Whoot! Whoot!

I like the idea of grabbing several bars everytime you go to walmart. I went today and grabbed 4 boxes of everything + 8 bars of zote. That is my plan to keep stocked up. My 35lb bucket from the cat litter I use makes a perfect storage bucket for this detergent and I cant wait to try this.

I know this is an older post, but just wanted to let you know. I grated and melted a bar of Zote and made an all purpose cleaner out of it. It is amazing. I used it in my steam cleaner and the floors turned out great. I used it for a bathroom cleaner and on my kitchen counters. I wished I hadn't waited so long to make it.

There is citronella in this soap although it is not listed. There are several brands of this kind of soap here in Mexico and many of them list citronella and don't have as strong a citronella scent as Zote (pronounced zo-tay). Yes, those of us who live in Mexico use this soap and it's been around for decades. "our little homestead" has made some suggestions that I never thought of!! This is one of the nice things that happen when different cultures share knowledge.

@TheMsLady4Real; first your reply button is turned off for me to respond so I hope you see this message. Second, I have not answered your questions because my daughter got married Sunday and I've been away from my computer as I've done all the planning as she is in Texas and then we had several days of clean-up! Third, I HAVE NOT BEEN PAID BY ANY SOAP, or other associated products to this SOAP COMPANY FOR ANY of THESE PRODUCTS. PERIOD. NOR HAVE I RECEIVED FREE PRODUCTS FROM THEM. Everything I said is honestly and truly my personal opinion. I LOVE ZOTE SOAP! I buy bars every time I see it on a shelf. I have extra boxes of Borax and Washing Soda as well. I believe it is the best laundry detergent you can make at home. Again, all just in my opinion. I do promote other items based on my reviews ONLY, and that I test and love and give honest reviews on items as I come across them; items that just rock my world. just get more airtime. I will say this to all my fans; I do have a 'new' sponsor and I am announcing that next officially next week; a camping supply store for prepping/camping equipment. I only accepted them as my channel and their products are like two peas in a pod. I will still give only HONEST reviews of any product they send me; if I don't like it, you'll know it, even if it's sponsored items. That is why they chose me. And you'll also know the product I am sponsoring because I'll say the name of the company in each sponsored product video. No hidden buys or money changing hands. We all got to make a living. I'll never be ashamed of that.

for less than $1 I have figured out how to take one bar of zote and make one full gallon of liquid soap. I use this liquid soap for dishes and washing hands. Next I'm going to try and put some coconut oil in a little bit of this liquid soap and see how it is as a body wash. This soap is very natural rinses off does not leave a residue you can feel your dishes when your rinse them squeaky clean it gets grease off of my husband's tools it is an amazing soap.

But I love the smell of citronella and look forward to buying it whenever I see it at the store. I want to make the powdered detergent, since it takes so little to use at a time and when I made detergent from just whatever I found at Elliot's and _even then_ I was amazed at how clean my clothes smelled! If the dye is good enough for _them,_ it's good enough for _me,_ and I think the detergent would look really pretty, pink or blue!

My first project was I shredded a palm full of it and put into a small drawstring jewelry bag(the ones you get with a purchase) and I hung in my bathroom on the back end of the toilet paper 🧻 holder. Awesome tip! I bet the guest all love it too! Plus it keeps the natural lemon balm or citronella helps to keep the mosquitoes at bay! My neighbor is always asking me why he's always getting bit and I'm not when we're out chatting by their house and I tell him, I wash my clothes in zote and on really bad days I rub the bar directly on my pants and sleeves and head out to the garden. My husband does this too. The scent rejects bugs while we work or just take a long walk. I've been putting small pcs around my yard to repel bugs naturally as well. That has helped with rabbits eating my lemon and lime tree leaves.

They say it works in mexican water streams as the fish are used to more down there due to that fact they use the zote to wash clothes in the river and it attracks the fish...I did catch a catfish and a sunfish using this recipe and I used very tiny pcs...

It's funny you wash your dog at a car wash. Where I live there is a pet wash co-located at a local automatic car wash. I always found that a curious combo.

I got a giggle about mechanics washing up using zote. As a teenager, I worked on cars. I washed the axel grease out of my waist-length blonde hair using Tide! Small world, isn't it?

I use Zote soap to wash my makeup brushes. Works very well. I use a horse grooming tool that is made of a silicone rubber in an oval shape that has really small soft bristles on one side and little bumps on the other side and you can slip it over your hand to wash the animal. It is about the size of The palm of your hand in because of the very soft bristles and bumps, you can rub the soap onto the little bristles/bumps and wet your make up brushes and then just gently run them over the bumps and bristles on the grooming mitt and it works just as well as the brush cleaning mats that are way overpriced. The grooming mitt can be priced anywhere from $1-$5

Can't find Zote soap in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I use Sunlight pure laundry bar soap instead --$2 for 3 bars at Wal-Mart. Smells like lemon. Use it the same way you do.

I just went into a Menards in Boone Co Indiana and a lady that worked there stopped me, her jaw dropped and I thought she recognized me from YT or FB but then said, I know a gal down in Southern INDIANA that LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU! Same figure, same walk, smile, hair style and red color; EVERYTHING!" I said, well- we may be related my family was all born in southern Indiana on my dad's side. She just walked off shaking her head. I must have a doppleganger down south! LOL!

93 cents?!? Omg! I’m desperate to get my hands on the pink bar just because I want to feel it and smell it (weird, I know, I’ve been told so lots lol) but here in the UK you can only buy it online and it’s £25 !!!

If it's more scent, add some booster scent crystals to each load. But I got away from chemical filled versions too...migraines were horrific and joint pain. It all got 80% better when I stopped the high-perfumed stuff. Now, when in the store, I avoid those chemical filled isles best I can! If you have a reaction, use less borax...or remove the baking soda...and see how that works for you. Play with the recipe till you get it how you like it. Very versitile. Tell your wife to clean her make up brushes with the zote itself...and she'll love you for buying it for that alone! Bristles come clean quickly and so soft! I use it on my husky and she glows white!
