@@catgaeming2025 Nothing in catastrophic3's post was wrong. The movie was largely despised, was more known because of the memes mocking it, the movie bombed. Sony mistook the memes as meaning people wanted another shot to see the movie in theaters so re-released it, the movie bombed even harder. That's just facts. You liking the movie doesn't change that. It's cool you enjoyed it but unfortunately you were very much in the minority so don't get hopes up for a sequel, sorry.

I think the idea is that he went too far in it playing a role in his motivation as he grew up... the bullies are cartoonishly mean and it came out in 2022 so it's unlikely, as bad as it was, that the studio and its writers were victim blaming. There's obviously nothing wrong with standing up for yourself but it's not like that's all he did in the movie lmao. Just because someone's been wronged at some point doesn't mean it's ok to take it out on others or treat people poorly, yet you'd be surprised by how many people think it's justified because they were once on the receiving end and haven't healed from it. Or want to make others suffer like they have. It's a cliche we've seen a hundred times. But tbh, Mark said it best when it becomes difficult to sympathize or even pinpoint the character's motivation so I can see why you'd see it that way.

The thing is, "everybody has always had it better than me so the only thing I can think of to do with my newfound power is inflict misery on as many people as possible" isn't terrible as far as character motivations go, it's just that that is literally the sum of the Milo character as a whole after a certain point. He doesn't have fun with it, he doesn't have any moments of self awareness, he doesn't illustrate his belief that people deserve to suffer with a sense of maniacal fixation, he just outright states it as a premise and kind of forgets about how important it supposedly is to him. I'd think it'd make more sense for him to be trying to philosophically rationalize his newfound and unavoidable bloodlust rather than being suddenly just a 100% irretrievable villain in the blink of an eye but that require him to be a full fledged character and not just an antagonist

@@washedblue I didn’t “see it that way”, that’s what happened. It doesn’t matter what intentions or personal fantasies you want to attach to it, that’s the scene we were given and that’s blatantly the way it was framed. Is it because the studio is literally intentionally targeting hate crime victims and blaming them? No, fucking obviously not. That was blatant hyperbole and you should know better. It’s just lazy shitty writing that you’re thinking about harder than the creators did.

Like Morbius needs blood with specific genetic features or something, and it turns out Milo, I don't know, kidnapped some jock (top-tier healthy body) and drained him dry for it, with earlier in the movie, something about that jock going missing is shown/mentioned in the background, part of a news story or whatever.

I like how, in these stupid movies, intelligence is like this god-like power that makes you just know things without ever having learned anything about it. If I take some 300 IQ boy and put it infront of an apheresis machine and told him to fix the machine, without giving him any time to try and figure it out first, obviously, he would just magically know how this machine works, because "he smart". That's how intelligence works, in case you didn't know. It doesn't let you learn things easier and faster, no, it just makes you know stuff.

@@itsok6640 In the real life situation the mean kids are presented with an opportunity to be nice or neutral and choose to be mean; in the movie they're taking time and effort out of their day just to do a mean thing, if that makes sense. The first situation might evolve into the second because of human nature and habits, but I feel like it's kind of rare for a person to *start* being mean by going out of their way to do so. At the very least it makes less sense in a story where you usually need to have some relatively obvious reason for something to happen (unless you're going to explain it later, or you're doing a purposefully absurdist or slice-of-life/realistic/grounded thing, neither of which describes Mobius). Edit: Also, Milo is a malt based beverage powder for hot or cold milk here in Australia, so for us it sounds extra funny. And they make a really great breakfast cereal in Brazil that is Milo flavoured/branded. And there's also a chocolate bar that is just a brick of the powder with a thin layer of milk chocolate over it, they're really hard to eat because they are so dry, but super delicious. The point being, Milo sounds extra funny to Australians.

Man I would have loved to have seen Ian McShane in a 70's or 80's era Morbius horror flick make it like Cronenenberg meets Lovecraft where Morbius is a straight up villain throughout but a portals threatening to destroy all of humanity which Morb needs selfishly for food. That way you can keep Morbius as a creepy selfish horror villain and keep his edge while giving him a moral quest to save the world. Maybe have Jared Harris be his father figure but the guy who accidentally opened the Lovecraft portal to add personal stakes. Boom I fixed Morbius. Thoughts?
