The Manhattans - Kiss and Say Goodbye! Reaction! I Love You Woman, But I Gotta Let You Go!!!
Ойын-сауық
"Kiss and Say Goodbye" is a popular song by the American R&B group The Manhattans. It was released in 1976 and became one of their biggest hits. The song was written by group member Winfred "Blue" Lovett and features lead vocals by Gerald Alston.
"Kiss and Say Goodbye" is a heartfelt ballad that tells the story of a man who is ending a relationship with a woman he still loves. Despite their love for each other, he realizes that they can't be together anymore and decides to let her go. The song's lyrics express his pain and longing as he kisses her and says goodbye, acknowledging that it's the best decision for both of them.
The emotional and soulful delivery of Gerald Alston's vocals, combined with the heartfelt lyrics and the smooth harmonies of The Manhattans, contributed to the song's success. "Kiss and Say Goodbye" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also topped the R&B singles chart. It remains one of The Manhattans' most iconic and enduring songs.

That's what every generation says when they get older. except now I think it's really true, since 1980 music is gone downhill, slowly at first, very slowly, so bright lights here and there, but now it's just artificially produced nonsense.

Absolutely true! Nothing but facts!
What a great song by a great group.
Their song "Shinning ⭐ Star" is also a really good song.
Such a beautiful soft soul love song. I grew up with this music. I was about 16 years old then. 🎶🎶❤️❤️
Exactly what I said, can nobody beat the Manhattan's choreography! Especially in "Shining Star" LOL. All joking aside I LOVE this group, also for the right reasons. Ultimate nostalgia/ melancholy. Much love :)
One of my favorites EVER! Back in the day I knew every word!! Still do!! I love your reaction Channel & you guys!! Thank you!!

A Shout Out From Detroit ! MOTOWN Forever !!!!!
Back when artists could really sing and groups could look the part and entertain ppl 🎶🎵
Chicago 1976. I slow danced to this at a Graduation party with my crush. ❤
Fabulosity. They were SUAVE. They were wearing 70’s outfits- much like Elvis’ jumpsuit. Thanks guys. Request: The Stylistics, “ People Make the World Go Round” - so funky and Shaft like but smooth and beautiful too. ❤❤❤❤
Wow, great choice, knew all the lyrics, Thanks for sharing 😀

No problem 😊
I was a wee lass when this song was released but I have always loved it and have sung along to it since I was in the single digits. Oh, the harmonies and synchronized stepping! ❤🥹😆
I was just a kid not even in kindergarten when my mother always was playing her music, the Manhattans being one of those bands. I remember this song being released in 1976,) I had to look up the year though) I was ten at that point. They knew their business. Such a beautiful song.
Many years ago this great song was always on the AM radio!
Your reactions killed me on this. I almost fell off my chair laughing with 'look at that guys collar yo' 'That joint go up to the clavicle'. Dead silence when it finished had me dying. It was probably the most fun I've had with you guys. Brilliant song, terrible clothes and hair (that first guy relaxer was failing hard). I vaguely know the Manhattans, my parents were more The Spinners/Drifters/Stylistics. Great reaction guys, keep them coming.

This song takes me back to basic training in 76. After 5 weeks they finally let us have a radio and listen to music on the weekends.
The 70's were the best decade ever for music....the creativity and songwriting were great...you could hear different genres of music on one radio station....I loved it all.
Hey those big collars are right in line with 70s fashion. The jumpsuits too!
Growing up in the 70's I LOVED this song! Still do. :)
All music has a place in the world love these groups and you have to look at what was happing in the world at that time.
Boy do I miss those days. So smooth.
In 1985 I was starting a 6 year prison sentence in Virginia. I was at a reception center which is where everyone goes while the evaluate you and decide what prison you will be permanently housed at . There was a cell right across from mine with a black dude named Mookie who had a great voice and he used to sing this song at least once a day. I had never heard the song before I heard Mookie sing it and I used to bug him all the time to sing it one more time. Such a great song and a weirdly good memory from a depressing place. I asked him the name of the group that sang song and I wrote it down and found the record when I got released. I will always love that song.
Man I miss my youth. I'm only 55 but, this is real music❤❤. I grew up to the best music.. shining star is also a good one by them
That's what I like about you guys great music comes from all people just different styles how you express yourself
Aaahhhhh....70s soul was the best. Chi-lites and Stylistics......Tavares.....sooo much good music
Gerald Alston, one of the best tenors, ever. The guy with the deep voice...Blue Lovett...the late...sadly.
Great song and a time when black artists really had the 4 part harmony locked down along with meaningful lyrics and real musicians who could actually play their instruments great! Rap music just doesn't cut it, it doesn't come close. This is real music that touches your soul hard! You drift away with their vocal abilities and soothing harmonies. Rap music? That's an oxymoron. This is music!
I absolutely LOVE this jam! Classy, classic, smooth! Nice choice!
Ik ow all about the Manhattans I was born in 1968 and as I grew up my dad like country and rock n roll my mom love r& b. I was exposed to all juaundras of music. Manhattans and stylistics plated the most beautiful music
This has been on my playlist, along with Lou Rawls, for many years. I'm a white girl from the suburbs. Of Detroit.
I remember this song playing a lot on the radio. ❤ I havent heard it in ages so thanks for playing it! Love their jumpsuits. I had a feminine version of the same white jumpsuit with long collar but short sleeves!
IIIIIIIIIIIII Had to meet you here todayyyyyyyy 🎙😩🤚
ALOT of these groups started in the late 50s. Great.
Amazing song 🎵
Love this song.
Dude ,,of course Mr.Beardman just put a smile on my face 👍
I was waiting on this song. Didn't see y'all had it. I LOVE this song so much!! ❤
70s music was the best but 70s R&B was the best of the best.
I was a teenager when this song was released and some of the lyrics went over my head. If you pay attention to all the lyrics especially the part "you got ties and so do I" I interpret that to mean that she's in a committed relationship with someone else as well as he (the singer of the song) is too, so they've been cheating on their significant others with each other so the way he's breaking up makes sense.
Corey...that's enough...🤣...I know, I know, but cut it out! That's 1 of my favorite songs. That $hit is STILL fire! I love hearing my Dad sing this d@mn song. Even when he gettin on my last d@mn nerve.
Classic soul jam
Love them!! Now do James Brown's 'Papa don't take no mess' please!
I love soul
Know it by heart I do all the voice work lol I'm 61 old white lady! My gen music is and shall forever be FIRE!
Remember we didn’t watch videos,we listened on the radio or stereos. They were dressed for a tv show. But men dressed well for the time, took pride in being able to dance and gave us romantic songs. Today no dancing,no wooing, and men dress like 12 year olds forever. Haven’t seen a sharp man in decades.

No truer words were ever spoken. Today's music has juvenile, shallow lyrics that basically tell the same redundant theme. Hoes, Hennessey, guns,gangs.. soooo boring,so played, so lame. The so called artists are even more shallow than their bankrupt lyrics and music.
I get chicken skin when I hear The Manhattans🥰
A melody from my happy childhood 🧑
Come on fellas, at the time THIS was how all the groups did. In the 70's we didn't have just one genre that we were exposed to, we were exposed to everything and I LOVE IT. This soul/R&B music is some of the best. Look at the Temptations, the Spinners, etc. The music was the best.
I remember this song. It reminds me of summers as a kid. It is funny, though, to see that Barry White talking style.
I enjoyed the chair dance moves! 😂 As far as the outfits go. Its a good thing they all looked really good from the back. If you know what i mean!"😂
A year or so ago this song was on TV all the time as it's part of an advert campaign "Kiss Goodbye to Oil" in a push to get people to convert to electric vehicles here in NZ. I appreciate this song more now than I did when I was a child and yes that was a typical 60s/70s type of performance with the outfits and the dance moves etc. Other Groups from back then (70s) it would be good to see you react to would be: Chic (Good times, Le Freak etc), KC and the Sunshine Band (Get Down Tonight, That's the Way etc) or The Pointer Sisters (He's so Shy, Fire, etc).
The song is about his side chick. Telling her they can't see each other anymore. And I still love it
The PERFECT imperfection of them not being in sync.. Apart from the true values, there's not much that makes me happier in life than that. It has an innocence about it. Something you don't really see now a days in mainstream. Everything is thought out and calculated to a Tee. Same thing with singers, give me a less gifted singer that sings from the heart over someone skilled that is not.
Remember when talent was required to make music? Good times…
Im proud to have lived thru the 70’s

You guys need to hear Grand Funk Railroad, Inside looking out !!!
This was the way entertainers dressed back them. It's better than the way you all dress today for performances. If it wasn't for the music of the past, you wouldn't be hearing the shit of today
As a 64 yr old I try to tell kids trends change and all their tattoos may not be as cool as they think now.
❤
♥♥♥♥
Talked over the whole song
What I got from this song is it was his side chick he was cutting ties with. They were both either married or in a relationship with other people.
It’s funny, but find someone today who can sing like that without auto tone. People can, I’m sure, but they don’t want to work for it.
i thought that was Barry White breakin out the vocals
1975 i think. I was 7
💗the song. Hate jumpsuits 🤯👍🏻🇨🇦🐉👩🏼⚖️
Hold up, you do realize that many bands prior to 1990s didn't have a choice in their on stage wardrobe? Some band managers did not give the band's a choice period, and threatened them with lawsuit on breach of contract if they refused not to wear the costumes. Same thing on hair cut, color, even weight gain/ loss. Some even had to go out in public functions with an arranged date for publicity stunts.

I refuse to watch reactions to live songs
Well guys, at the time, those jumpsuits seemed pretty sexy. The super tight jeans were too! I'd still prefer that to baggy, crotch to the knees pants😅
Don't do black though....this was so much my music...All the best. All the best. Cheers
I am wrong or is this song about a man having an affair? Growing up as a young girl listening to this I thought he was ending an affair!!!!
In this song they were reading up a affair. They were married to other people

He was having anfair with a other woman
I think in order to glean a lot more respect for this song, you should have just played the studio version : (
In those days it was civilized and included real love songs. Nowadays, the guns come out! Which time would you choose to live in?
Hey dont knock the jump suits. Us women of the 70s loved men in n tight pants 🎉
They were both having an affair. Both had other people.
Lmao. It is a break up song between a man and his MISTRESS
OlliWoodda and CoreyRoy , you are just mocking. That's not good.
You're breaking down 10 20 30 year old videos that sound like garbage play the studio version right off the album The sound is a million times better especially I can't say this enough especially the first time hearing them that led Zeppelin sounds like garbage compared to listening to the album listen to the song on the album and you will be like wow
choreography is for untalented singers.
Lovely, holds many meories and the Chi Lites.🥲💓🙏🎇
