The Manhattans - Kiss and Say Goodbye! Reaction! I Love You Woman, But I Gotta Let You Go!!!

Ойын-сауық

"Kiss and Say Goodbye" is a popular song by the American R&B group The Manhattans. It was released in 1976 and became one of their biggest hits. The song was written by group member Winfred "Blue" Lovett and features lead vocals by Gerald Alston.
"Kiss and Say Goodbye" is a heartfelt ballad that tells the story of a man who is ending a relationship with a woman he still loves. Despite their love for each other, he realizes that they can't be together anymore and decides to let her go. The song's lyrics express his pain and longing as he kisses her and says goodbye, acknowledging that it's the best decision for both of them.
The emotional and soulful delivery of Gerald Alston's vocals, combined with the heartfelt lyrics and the smooth harmonies of The Manhattans, contributed to the song's success. "Kiss and Say Goodbye" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also topped the R&B singles chart. It remains one of The Manhattans' most iconic and enduring songs.

That's what every generation says when they get older. except now I think it's really true, since 1980 music is gone downhill, slowly at first, very slowly, so bright lights here and there, but now it's just artificially produced nonsense.

I was just a kid not even in kindergarten when my mother always was playing her music, the Manhattans being one of those bands. I remember this song being released in 1976,) I had to look up the year though) I was ten at that point. They knew their business. Such a beautiful song.

Your reactions killed me on this. I almost fell off my chair laughing with 'look at that guys collar yo' 'That joint go up to the clavicle'. Dead silence when it finished had me dying. It was probably the most fun I've had with you guys. Brilliant song, terrible clothes and hair (that first guy relaxer was failing hard). I vaguely know the Manhattans, my parents were more The Spinners/Drifters/Stylistics. Great reaction guys, keep them coming.

In 1985 I was starting a 6 year prison sentence in Virginia. I was at a reception center which is where everyone goes while the evaluate you and decide what prison you will be permanently housed at . There was a cell right across from mine with a black dude named Mookie who had a great voice and he used to sing this song at least once a day. I had never heard the song before I heard Mookie sing it and I used to bug him all the time to sing it one more time. Such a great song and a weirdly good memory from a depressing place. I asked him the name of the group that sang song and I wrote it down and found the record when I got released. I will always love that song.

Great song and a time when black artists really had the 4 part harmony locked down along with meaningful lyrics and real musicians who could actually play their instruments great! Rap music just doesn't cut it, it doesn't come close. This is real music that touches your soul hard! You drift away with their vocal abilities and soothing harmonies. Rap music? That's an oxymoron. This is music!

I was a teenager when this song was released and some of the lyrics went over my head. If you pay attention to all the lyrics especially the part "you got ties and so do I" I interpret that to mean that she's in a committed relationship with someone else as well as he (the singer of the song) is too, so they've been cheating on their significant others with each other so the way he's breaking up makes sense.

Remember we didn’t watch videos,we listened on the radio or stereos. They were dressed for a tv show. But men dressed well for the time, took pride in being able to dance and gave us romantic songs. Today no dancing,no wooing, and men dress like 12 year olds forever. Haven’t seen a sharp man in decades.

No truer words were ever spoken. Today's music has juvenile, shallow lyrics that basically tell the same redundant theme. Hoes, Hennessey, guns,gangs.. soooo boring,so played, so lame. The so called artists are even more shallow than their bankrupt lyrics and music.

Come on fellas, at the time THIS was how all the groups did. In the 70's we didn't have just one genre that we were exposed to, we were exposed to everything and I LOVE IT. This soul/R&B music is some of the best. Look at the Temptations, the Spinners, etc. The music was the best.

A year or so ago this song was on TV all the time as it's part of an advert campaign "Kiss Goodbye to Oil" in a push to get people to convert to electric vehicles here in NZ. I appreciate this song more now than I did when I was a child and yes that was a typical 60s/70s type of performance with the outfits and the dance moves etc. Other Groups from back then (70s) it would be good to see you react to would be: Chic (Good times, Le Freak etc), KC and the Sunshine Band (Get Down Tonight, That's the Way etc) or The Pointer Sisters (He's so Shy, Fire, etc).

The PERFECT imperfection of them not being in sync.. Apart from the true values, there's not much that makes me happier in life than that. It has an innocence about it. Something you don't really see now a days in mainstream. Everything is thought out and calculated to a Tee. Same thing with singers, give me a less gifted singer that sings from the heart over someone skilled that is not.

Hold up, you do realize that many bands prior to 1990s didn't have a choice in their on stage wardrobe? Some band managers did not give the band's a choice period, and threatened them with lawsuit on breach of contract if they refused not to wear the costumes. Same thing on hair cut, color, even weight gain/ loss. Some even had to go out in public functions with an arranged date for publicity stunts.
