20th Century Boys is by no means a recent manga release; but with a timeless villain and an endless list of themes that Naoki Urasawa dives into through this story, it is a manga that will never get old. Join me today as I discuss the intricacies of the dynamic between Kenji & Friend, my biggest takeaway, and an all-around solid rant about a manga that impressed me, beginning to end.

what it DESERVES
I think that this manga deserves so much an anime. But an anime realized like Monster for example. I watched the anime before reading the manga for Monster, and it is one of the few times I prefer the anime over the manga. That is great anyway, I am not saying that. And 20th Century Boys would be such an outstanding anime, as I would really like to see this work take life. And just imagine the soundtrack! It could be the soundtrack... of the Century!!
The more i think about this manga, the more i realize its a damn masterpiece. Everything, to the smallest details.
One of the ABSOLUTE greatest works of Naoki Urasawa. That man is a mastermind in the world of manga!!!!!
so brilliant!! must read it now!! and love hearing you speak japanese! hope we hear it more in future videos :)
Naoki Urasawa the best mangaka. And... damnnnnnn, the soundtracks of Monster to explain... f##cking amazing

20th century boys is the first manga I bought physically in it's entirety. It is a beyond fantastic story and Rollercoaster from start to finish. Every answer breeds more questions until you finally know the truth. Truly a worth while read for anyone.
Besides the commentary video, I think your Japanese is really good! It sounds like a local’s! Might not be the best but u take one step at a time when learning something

Look I've read everything but my problem with this manage is the pacing and Kanna who is a plot device. Everything before the flash forward to 2014 was really a great story. Kenji and his friends were a very good group. I didn't understand at the end if "friend" was still Fukubei or someone else
@AnimeCultureCorner
2 жыл бұрын
personally, at some points for me Kanna felt like an even better protagonist than kenji. i think in the later parts she did definitely get immediately sidelined for kenji, so i get what you’re saying tho for sure

Fukubei was the first Friend. The 2nd one(the Friend that rose from the dead) is someone else.

Bruh its a mystery manga of course the pacing will be slow this aint no fast pace shounen its extremely common for the pacing to be slow Naoki Urasawa's manga all of his manga do it he sets up seemingly insignificant plot threads or character which later becomes a big part of the story
@harshalgondkar9927

The first friend is Fukubei Hattori (given the mask). And second is Katsumata-kun. He is revealed in 21st century boys. He is the only one who is faceless. And has powers to bend spoons. Also the one who is also mentioned to have died and it's his ghost who is supposed to be lurking during the carp dissection.
