That was so hard decision because two of the six rules of being a Mandalorian is "Wear the armor" and "Protect your children". And in that particular situation, one rule contradicted another one. So whatever he would do, he would break one of those rules. Gosh, that scene was so heavy and so good, without a single word. But you almost feel his mind working on that. And it is like "If I remove my helmet I will lose my identity and maybe even right to be a Mandalorian, to be in my Clan. But Me and Grogu, we are a Clan of Two. He is my son. Without Him, I have no Clan..." So good scene.

Such a well acted scene, even the imperial officer they were talking to was genuinely impressive. Would’ve loved to see that creepy ass imperial as a more consistent antagonist because he was that intriguing!
Pedro did such a good job showing his discomfort and awkwardness with the mask off and it’s nice to see since the helmet usually blocks all other sense of emotion viewers would pick up on
That PTSD moment right before shooting the officer was really powerful. Not showing any flashback gives the viewer space to imagine stuff much worse than anything the director might put on the plate.

@@shadowcat1606 you've not listened. Mayfeld specifically said that the base was run by former ISB. Not that they were still ISB. It would make sense because they normally the most loyal / believers. Furthermore during cinder it was senior officers giving the orders and ISB senior officers usually held a lot of control. Remember Gideon was ISB as well originally. Even if the guy wasn't ISB Mayfeld could have still served under him as ISB field operative. Remember in rebels kallus was under command of naval officers. The reason I say Mayfeld is former ISB is he knows things no stormtrooper or army trooper would know. Locations of secret bases , clearances and protocols , certain knowledge about systems in retail etc

@@jameswg13 Run by former ISB, yes. doesn't mean everyone in it is or was ISB. The Empire is no more at this point and the remnants are scrambling for what little power and authority they can. So while the operation in this mine might be run by former ISB, people serving under him might just be the most loyal troops they managed to rally under them, no matter what branch they are from. As far as Mayfeld is confirmed... i understand your reasoning. I'm just not sure it's correct. But i can't tell either way, to be honest. What is Need-to-know and what isn't seems a bit... vague and undefined at this point.

OR it could be something like the war between Death Watch and the True Mandalorians.
That whole cafeteria scene had some heavy Inglorious Basterds vibes. The troopers throughout the base even had red armbands to complete the space Nazi imagery. Bill Burr really sold his performance here. I started out feeling very 'meh' about his character, then was super annoyed with him when he started pushing Din's buttons, but it was in that moment that he really won me over.
Gideon: Mando: "I have a particular set of skills..."
Mando gave full Mel Gibson at the end “GIVE ME BACK MY SON! “
THIS was actually my fav episode of the season. The season finally reached it’s stride here. Bill Burr killed it
The moment you realize that you’re going to witness a darksaber and beskar spear fight
The Believer, dubbed for the 13th episode, is most likely referring to Valon Hess since he died with his dogmatic beliefs intact. The episode criticizes society who’s dogmatic cause led to its downfall, regardless if you’re a Mandalorian, Imperial, Jedi, or Sith. Only people who are accepting of other ideas like Mando and Mayfeld (who broke their oath for a moral cause) or actively rebuilds the notion of a preexisting idea like Luke Skywalker, Bo Katan, or Darth Bane. The moral of the episode I believe is stay true to your moral compass, regardless if your society tells you otherwise.

Storm trooper: worst lunch break ever Mayfield: my conscience is clear
Did not expect to hear Operation Cinder get referenced, it’s a part of Battlefront 2 I had almost forgotten about since it wasn’t established just how damaging it really was. And because of Mayfields character, it added a lot more weight to how devastating Operation: Cinder was, and how it haunts Mayfield until he receives a unique kind of Closure by killing the sociopathic commanding Officer he used to serve under. The forced reveal of Dins Djarins face was truly amazing to witness and demonstrated just how far he is willing to go to save his Son, even at the cost of a religion he had followed since he was a child. Great episode. The entirety of season 2 has been golden in my opinion even the episode where Grogu eats Frog lady’s eggs 😅
Mayfeld goes just full Hugo Stiglitz on that cafeteria. For the record he was tried to find out if the general feel sorry for that day. But this son of a Rancor forget about those horrors what keep Mayfeld at night, just like his face.

I love how this was the first time other than in videos games we've actually seen a seismic charge WORK on a ship! All the ones Jango left for Obi-wan missed!
The fight on the transport really fit the Old West style of this show. It was like an old fashioned train robbery.
No One: Mando: "I have a very particular set of skills that make me a nightmare for people like you, Moff Gideon"
“He means more to me then you will ever know” this is the way
That seismic charge... that was pure fanservice AND I LOVE IT!
Once you take off the helmet, you can't put it back on. Even if nobody says they saw him, he knows he took it off. I think that's fantastic. He can be a regular Mandalorian and no longer a member of the Watch, the villains for so much Star Wars history.
Boba dropping a seismic charge really solidifies it for me - The Mandalorian is basically 'Star Wars Fanservice: The show', and I don't mind it one bit. It's well needed after all Star Wars has been through in the hands of Ratcorp.
I was like "Oh my god, we get to see Slave 1 inside!!!" Also, Bill Burr did great!!
I ADORED the shout out to Op. Cinder and Inferno Squad from BF II
I always got the impression that the Great Purge was a genocide perpetrated by the Empire sometime after Rebels. Whatever happened, it was a cataclysm of such magnitude that by around 9 ABY the galaxy considers Mandalorians to be an extinct people: In Chapter 3, Paz Vizsla notes, "Our strength was once in our numbers. Now we live in the shadows and only come above ground one at a time. Our world was shattered by the Empire..." In Chapter 6, when told the Mandalorians were apparently the greatest warriors in the galaxy, Burg retorts, "Then why are they all dead?" In Chapter 11, Din says of Mandalore, "That planet is cursed. Everyone who goes there dies. Once the Empire knew they couldn't control it they made sure no one else could either." In this episode, Chapter 15, Migs Mayfeld compares the devastation of Mandalore to that of Alderaan, going so far as to say "neither one of them exist anymore." Some great tragedy befell Mandalore during imperial occupation. The Purge wasn't just another in a long line of Mandalorian wars, it is regarded by onlookers to have figuratively destroyed the planet and literally destroyed its people.
So I have the perfect name for this one : INGLORIOUS BESKARS © ^^
When I first saw those TIEs chasing Slave I I thought Boba was going to use some swivel-cannons, but the moment it turned skyward and those TIEs formed up right next to each other I -KNEW- what was coming next.
That *IS* Night King, also Chemist from Mandy, Porter from Doom '05, Joe Chill in Batman Begins... Guy really knows how to play a scumbag.
It's 6am and I really need to go to bed and now I see this...
This story and character wise may be the best executed of the season. Killing a dozen people defending their home will haunt Din for some time, and then we see how far he really is willing to go for Grogu when he takes off his helmet. Mayweather's story was also fantastically done. His performance was excellent, from his wisecracking to him "dealing with some personal stuff."
Mando using his face is like watching a baby walk

Heres the thing with the whole "Watch creed" that I noticed: When it comes to wearing traditional Mandalorian armor, he can never remove his helmet in front of anyone, but here Din was wearing Stormtrooper armor, so I think he can TECHNICALLY remove the helmet without breaking the creed. What do you guys think?
i swear to god, this whole season, from Ahsoka, to Boba, to the seismic charge, just one nerdgasm after another!! can i get you guys a damp washcloth?
Basically, when Mandalorians do not fight against the Republic of Jedi or Sith, they probably fight with each other, because for so warriorlike culture, one day without a good fight is lost a day of life. We just get bored when it is too peaceful.
I did not give Bill Burr enough acting credit before. He knocked that table scene out of the park.

Grogu becoming THE MANDALORIAN!!!! This is The Way!
Moff Gideon got the Dark Saber from Bo Katan at one point. That could be the purge they are speaking about.
I was trying to see why I knew Valin Hess face and yeah he was the original Knight King but his face was even more familiar...he was the dude that played Portman in the movie Doom
Refreshing to see reactors that know their stuff. I reacted the same when I saw the interior rotate on Slave 1.
The Duchess wasn't working completely that is why they needed Sabine back. They had to be close with the weapon for it to work and Ursa Wren and Bo-Katan didn't seem to know about the Duchess weapon when we saw it in Rebels. I think the Purge happens afterwards and that is where Gideon is able to get his hands on the Dark Saber.
The guy who played Hess also played the bad guy in the video for Muse's Knights of Cydonia.
Its so much fun watching the three of you! Y'all are so knowledgeable, too. Another great chapter! Everything was done so well. Top notch performances by all. I also laughed when the Empire office yelled a question at Din. I hope they bring Mayfeld back, he is profound and he is also hilarious. The scene in the transport when Mayfeld was laying down some hard truths to Din was great. The scene in officer's mess hall was riveting from beginning to end. Pedro and Bill play off of each other really well, like the pros that they are. Din threw down the gauntlet. The season finale is gonna blow us away!
You're right, Kyle! Creepy-Officer-Guy was the original Night King, until they replaced him (a huge fuck-up imo) with a stuntman in later seasons. And a total foreshadow, btw, that Mando is proficient in spear throwing. Someone's getting run through with a Beskar spear.
