The Man With No Legal Identity - Off the Grid in Appalachia 🇺🇸

Deep in the woods of rural Appalachia is a man that lives alone on his land. He grows his own food, has no government ID, his overhead is $140 a month, and he possesses a claimed happiness by being free from the system, inspired by faith. Join me as we travel into the sticks of Kentucky to dive into the fascinating world of Titus Morris.

He is 100% missing out on a lot - saying otherwise is just disengious. don't get me wrong - he obviously doesn't care and I respect his choices. But not everyone wants to live like it's the 1800s. No sports, music or technology wouldn't be for me. There's even so much History you can read about with a quick Google. Titus could live a similar life without making things so difficult. Plus, he is very religious and thinks God speaks to him lol. While also living in really not clean house. There's loads of old farmers that live in my village who are similar and are miserbale because all they do is work and make life difficult. Granted, they use electricity. Eitheway, it is respectable life, but the people saying he's a genius or wharver... are deluded

Wow, as an atheist, I have a deep respect for Titus and how he holds himself. His sincerity makes him an excellent representative of Christianity. The fact that his priority is having the time to rebuild his neighbors’ home if disaster struck was truly admirable. Wonderful video. This content also breaks the stereotypes about Appalachia. I wouldn’t have expected someone to talk about the Rwanda genocide in Kentucky!

I believe that you would be surprised that the judgemental Christians who are not helping their neighbors nor being active in their communities is who you see more of but don't represent us all. I'm a Christian and aside from feeling like I should respond to this I rarely share with anyone that regularly I volunteer in helping Medical Reserve Corp especially during Covid, teach bleeding control for free on my own time and all my neighbors help each other. Be it car or home repairs, loaning each other tools or generally looking out for each other. This isn't what most people would think of for a city. Even less so in Philly. Many of those neighbors after working together on cars and socializing over the years, we all realized each of us has a slightly different sect of Christianity we follow but we also have Muslim and atheist neighbors who are treated the same. If they need help we would help. They would do the same for us. I would guess by looking at me and many of my friends you wouldn't guess Christian. Tattoos, beards, and look more like bikers ( some are) than people who have a higher calling than ourselves. I don't know if any of that makes sense. If you take time to read it I hope you see we aren't all judgemental A-holes and would help a stranger without recognition. We just are believers in Christ. Sunday Christian's on their high horse is not what should represent us. Have a great day. I really appreciate your comment.

Titus changed my husbands perception of life after giving Titus a ride after picking him up on the south side of Nashville one afternoon about ten years ago. He was headed home on foot after spending a month with a family helping them set up a homestead. My husband drove him into Kentucky and dropped him off on the side of the road. He took a dirt path through the woods. He said just drop me here my place is just a short walk from here.

I think it's because almost everybody are misinformed about what it means to truly grow up. Many believe it's casting aside everything that can be accotiated with children. To me that's nonsense. The difference between a child and an adult is adults have emotional maturity, enough wisdom to understand how the world works, and have enough knowledge to be make it on your own. Thats it, there is nothing else.

I claim to be no Titus :) but I’ve always made sure that I retained my innocence through life’s adversities, and boy have I had a few! :)… and your comment reminded me of similar questions I’ve had from acquaintances.. and I’ve always thought people don’t recognize the difference between childlike and childish any more :)… because just like you also said about Titus, I’ve also been dubbed “elderly” at 19 because I’ve been an old soul as afar back as I can remember. It’s a good way to be, that seeming contradiction 😊

The only bad thing about this video is, it ended. The moment of the horses running over to the buggy to say hello (and doggie in the meadow saying hi too), was powerful. It hit me like a ton of bricks, in the heart. Thank you for creating this video, and taking us into Titus' world.

I so agree with you. I had to rewind making sure of what I actually witnessed. It was harmonious and peaceful and the horses definitely had a connection. Wow. Great video!! Powerful.
