The Man Who Stopped The Sun and The Moon.
The battle of Gibeon was a pivotal moment in the Israelite conquest of Canaan. Joshua and the Israelites were up against a coalition of Amorite kings led by Adoni-zedek, king of Jerusalem. As Joshua and his army approached Gibeon, Adoni-zedek appealed to the kings of Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon to join forces against the Israelites.
The two sides prepared for battle in the valley near Gibeon. As the fighting raged on, Joshua saw that the sun was going down. Fearing that nightfall would enable the Amorite kings to escape, Joshua prayed to God to let the sun stand still over Gibeon and the moon over the valley of Aijalon. God miraculously answered Joshua's prayer, halting the sun and the moon in their tracks until the Israelites had defeated their enemies.
The Bible records this unique miracle as the day the sun stood still. With daylight prolonged, Joshua and the Israelite army were able to destroy their enemies completely. This victory cleared the way for the conquest of southern Canaan and affirmed God's power through His servant Joshua. This awe-inspiring event is remembered as the day a man stopped the sun and the moon.

Actually the title isn’t 100%. Only God can work that miracle. He did it at the prayer of his obedient prophet! Joshua 10:12-14 And the B’nai Yisrael have not always been obedient. In fact quite the opposite. Which is why they were often found in predicaments in which they had to cry out to God for his help!

Book of Jasher References in the Bible Joshua 10:13 13 & the sun stood still, & the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, & hasted not to go down about a whole day. In chap, 9, we are told the Gibeonites (summer people = the laborers) combined against Israel (the nabobs). They came to Joshua with their old sacks, old rent, and bound-up wine bottles, old shoes and clouted, and moldy bread (emblems under which the nabobs of every age and country have ever delighted to represent the working classes), and made as if they were ambassadors from a far-off country. The Israelites, before they were aware of their true character, " made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live" (9.15). This was noble - magnanimous! The Israelites agreed " to let them live! "Why, they were more liberal than our princes - millionaires - off to-day. They, the Israelites, let the Gibeonites - laborers - live, which can scarcely be said of our princes! Three days after, the Israelites learned the true character of the Gibeonites, i.e., "they heard (they only knew by hearsay) they were their neighbors, and dwelt among them" (9.16). How characteristic and how true! -it is human nature all over. The rich now-a-days scarcely know that they have any poor among them - not till they are obliged to contribute to their support, or rather, to give back a part of what they have stolen from them. However, the Israelites, finding they were in for it, "slew them not" (9.26), but cursed them (what a mercy! -what nobleness of mind!). The Gibeonites had never injured the Israelites; they had only struck for higher wages. For this they were enslaved (made bondsmen, I should rather say, for the Bible doesn't sanction slavery) - made hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation (for the rich, who sit in fine churches) and for the altar of the Lord (the priest) even unto this day "(9.27).

The sun will stand still for about a day on February 29, 2024. Sun worship is found throughout the bible…..For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psalm 84.11. "Then spake Joshua to THE LORD, and said, SUN, stand thou still upon Gibeon! So, THE SUN stood still in the midst of heaven. And there was no day like that, before it or after it, that THE LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man."-Joshua 10.12-14.
