The authenticity of Fort Harrod makes Fort Boonesboro look sick! There is no comparison! I am glad that they got the soft drink machines out of the block houses at Fort Boonesboro! That was ridiculous!

I am unable to find much info about a tiny long gone town near Harrodsburg called Brooklyn. It was along the KY river where Mercer and Jessamine Counties meet. Was also within a 1/4 mile of Woodford County. That area is mostly known for the bridge tunnel through a part of the KY river palisades. I would love to hear more about that area if there is more information somewhere.

The Fugate name however you spell it comes from Normandie France and we were Huguenots fleeing Lovie IV.

My original immigrant ancestor, Thomas Feland b. 1720 in Northern Ireland, emigrated 1750, settled in Campbell County, VA, had a dozen or so kids, migrated to Lincoln County around 1787 through wilderness road to Lincoln County and settled in Danville on the Hanging Fork of Dix River, just South of Harrodsburg. I’d love to discover more of the history in my attempt to build a narrative around my ancestor and family. Thomas Feland’s eldest son, Samuel Feland b. 1755 is my direct ancestor. He made his way to Davidson County, TN, purchasing land in 1787 just downriver from Nashborough. He may have traveled back and forth as younger siblings remained around Lincoln Co, Casey Co, etc. There’s so much history yet to discover about my ancestors family. Hard to know how to discover it exactly.

@Kentucky History Channel I can see from the old maps around Danville, a lot of the more well known names, Harrod, Shelby, Huston, etc. were around there. Seems like it was more communal around Danville. I'm always amazed at the extent of migration and the frequency and distances they traveled. I wish I had some idea of what the community life was like in the 1790's and post-revolution.

My family is from Bloody Breathitt County Robert J Fugate grew up in leslie in them thare hills.

Governor Goebel is my Ancestor. We now spell it Goble. A lot of mysteries with his story and many more of our ancestors. Trader John Hughes and Princess Niketta Powhatan Hughes would be a great story to do a video on and Indian Grave Fork.

A very good show, only Kentucky was settled by Native Americans a few tens of thousands years before Europeans arrived. Might clarify that for correct historical perspective. Other than that a great program. Thank you

I can see Herreds point of view in the dispute. Him and his group founded it. Without him none of them would have what they had. Why should he let someone greedy New comet come in take over and take whats his? Hey took the biggest risy, her founded it.

It's my impression that Harrod knew how to work with the American Indians and make agreements.

I believe you are correct. Even though he had suffered tragedies at the hands of American Indians he was not resentful towards them.

@@KentuckyHistoryChannel they are very interesting! I’m in central Arkansas, three Harrod brothers came & settled here about 1840. They were in Hardin & Smith County TN before they came here.

I know that Michael Cresap was in the battle at Point Pleasant. His father, Thomas Cresap was a thoroughly unpleasant character, but he built a trading post in Cumberland, Maryland and provided a place where the pioneers could buy supplies for their journey. Thomas Cresap surveyed much of Virginia and Maryland with George Washington. He was still involved in a lawsuit with Washington at the time of his death. I am a descendent of the Williams, Webbs, Jones’s, and Walkers. My DNA would probably reveal that I am related to everyone in Kentucky!🤣
