I've seen folks hopping onto this as their first game and even they still felt the gut punch at the ending. Edit: Not saying I recommend this as your first LAD game though lol

sbf is what got me into yakuza now I've played all the western releases on both ps and xbox props to pat.

A few notes. LaD Gaiden is a stand alone expansion to Yakuza 7 and is called LaD7 Gaiden in Japan. Agent style is the dumbest fun and was there to show Joryu is aging and needs to use precision attacks. Joryu's favorite pass time outside of baseball and karaoke is in fact why he looks old and skinny.

Nah Pat forgot about Haruka, and to his credit she shares her chapter with Akiyama so it makes sense that he might've forgotten that chapter had two protags. Can't give him too much credit though since Haruka's section was what made him drop Yakuza 5 initially, so it's weird he forgot about it.

​@@Who_is_AriWith how gargantuan 5 is, Haruka's part is a genuine pallet cleanser since her part is in the middle of the game. I'll admit I wish she picked up some of Kiryu's moves so I could kick Yakuza ass with her, but for what it is her part ties with the themes of the games really well and the shakeup in gameplay can help avoid burnout

The Spider-Man Who Erased His Name was right there

This game was honestly a lot more impressive than I was expecting for a hold-over title while we wait for Infinite Wealth. Probably one of my favorite finales in the franchise as well, especially if you wanted more from 6's conclusion.

Been playing this game slavishly every off hour. This is indeed the apology game for 6. It is everything and more. It is a love letter to the Kiryu saga, featuring a continuity cavalcade or returning features and side characters.

I live the idea of using Kiryu's smoking habit to justify him falling over and dropping all his power-ups like Samus.

Having just finished the game and bawling my eyes out (doing my best to avoid spoilers for the game), Gaiden can be seen as a funeral for Kazuma Kiryu, after his "death" in 6. His agent outfit is even the same kind of clothes you'd wear to a funeral.

I mean, Peter Parker DID erase his name from the world's memory.

Chapter 2 starts to get tiring but that's only because they needed some filler time in order to introduce its side content to give you enough breathing room to get all your upgrades. If Chapter 2 was the same length as the rest, you'd get horribly beat down in the finale because the actual main plot is too short to let you grind enough. Once Chapter 2 is done, the last three are lightning fast just to be a big reminder of "okay if need to power up anymore, get off the ride now."

@@UltimaKeyMaster that’s what I’m feeling I’m not necessarily tired yet but I’ve been doing almost all substories(akame requests) pocket circuit, coliseum etc cause I’m a completion nut. Not 100% always but if I can do it I do it. That I expect the three chapters after to be like a third or half the time I spent in chapter 2.

I since spread the word and most of my friends then told their friends who told their friends. Before I watched you, no one I knew played or knew about Yakuza now we all love it so thank you

He interpted some stuff in his Y0 playthrough as the director/Nagoshi showing their opinions on certain subjects in life. Which I can get but I think Woolie is thinking EVERYTHING in Yakuza now is some kind of social commentary.

He’d start a substory and say something along the lines of “I wonder what director man has to say about THIS topic”, as if the Yakuza games were written by one person. I don’t know, I just think it’s weird.

I wouldnt recommend anyone to play any Yakuza games back to back. You'll get burned out. For me, the games release at perfect intervals.

I will say if you don't know, absolutely do not watch the story trailers because they give away the reason he's nerfed. Also don't even bother reading comments because half of them are going to joke about it.

My only real complaint is the equipment system in dragon engine games just makes the game too easy. Even with basic equips you shred through bosses health bars.

Gonna be honest, this is kinda why I don't like Japanese media much. Every story eventually gets bored of itself and turns into dragonball with stupid power scaling like the writers just got bored. The Yakuza games have always been goofy, but they at least had the decency to put it on the side
