Dave Stewart couldn't find a good wrist guard, so he made one. Today, we're bringing Dave and Fxnction in-house to make the best damn safety gear on the planet. Lets goooooooo!

As a Onewheel racer, Dave Stewart is no stranger to taking a fall. He knew the importance of high-quality safety gear and quickly realized no one focused on making the best wrist guards possible. So Dave decided he would.
The first step was optimizing the heavy-duty under-wrist plastic for the right amount of flex and impact absorption. Fxnction's first production run was tested at the Dirt Surferz Onewheel race in Arkansas. Racers broke a few pairs on the sharp Shale rock but came away impressed.
Dave continued to refine the design with the best riders. He incorporated premium materials and new models, which offered more comfort and protection. People noticed word spread, and Fxnction wrist guards took off.
More wrist guards meant more boxes to pack and ship, more customers to support, more investment, and as any small business owner can attest to more headaches.
The Onewheel team saw an opportunity to help solve these growing pains and double down on getting riders in the best safety gear on the market. We're excited to announce that we've acquired Fxnction Gear and brought Dave in-house as Fxnction Gear Product Development Lead. With Dave’s experience and drive to design industry-leading gear and Onewheel's capacity to help scale the operation and solve key challenges, this partnership is a win for the riding world. Instead of printing shipping labels, Dave will now spend all of his time doing what he loves, designing badass safety gear for riders. That and going on trail rides.
“I believe we can change the culture and actually make wrist guards (and other protective gear) cool. We can make them something that people want to wear and are proud of wearing,” says Dave. “That's what the brand is about.”

Dave is the realist dude and this is SUCH a big win for both him and Onewheel. I ONLY trust Fxnction wrist guards to save my wrists so this is awesome!

The moment you get a chance to spend any time with Dave, it's immediately clear how insanely passionate he is and how much love he has for this sport and everyone in it. So insanely excited to see where this goes 👏 Podcast with Dave when? 👀

Looking forward to seeing Dave's mind on the design board for the rest...knees, elbows, and full body. My favorite is 661 (knees, elbows, body) but they are just not quite there

We hope so!
Only issue I have with the models so far is that you don’t get to rock a watch while wearing them. Which is nice when the app pairs nicely with a watch for quick information sharing. Make a set that doesn’t cover the top of the wrist and we’re in business!

Hope this makes it possible to have a reasonably shipping cost to the great white north. When I looked last year it was $50 shipping.

Just checked today and $40 shipping for a $60 product. Would love to try the product but just can't fathom that shipping price for a soft good.

nice looking guards, but to be "the best on earth" they should be double-sided. One thing is to protect your palm, but another is to save your wrist from impact. I am disappointed to only find basic one on the website, since the leather single-sided one looks really nice (I won't be buying it tho)
Are there open source designs? You can still sell them, but make it available to those who can't afford it.
