My mom was a backup singer with them in this song! She used to point out the part where you could hear her more clearly all the time. I adore this song, and the stories my mom gave me about being around these people. EDIT: I just wanted to come back and thank you all for the love. Unfortunately, my mother passed away this past month. However, I was able to let her know how much love you guys were sending her way before she passed. Every time I listen to this song I'll think of you, Mom. Thank you for not only being the most important person in my life, by an important part of many people's lives.

Those snow scenes remind me of the snow storm in Chicago in '67. We had so much fun digging tunnels in the snow in the yard and jumping off of the garage roof, making angels in the streets because there was no traffic and no school. I definitely wasn't dreaming of CA back then. Snow was too much fun.

@GetYour_Jollies You never know. It was definitely unforgettable for kids. Not sure the adults enjoyed it so much. There is a picture buried somewhere in my collection of my dad out there shoveling snow. The path he made on the sidewalk was surrounded by piles of snow higher than his head and he was 5'11". It must have been exhausting. No snowblowers back then, at least I didn't know anyone who had one.

I have a similar story. But I was 17 when this came out. But I always knew that I would go to America when I grew up( I am from the Netherlands). Been to the states about 15 times and about 5 times to California. Also lived in LA for 2 months...pretty cool!

They're song captured the longings and dreams of millions of young people in that time. I was one of them, as I and 3 of my buddies headed to California in a 1959 Opel.

In my humble opinion, one of the greatest songs ever composed and sung. Evokes so many feelings. Memories of a time I never endured or witnessed. Transcends time.

I was ten years old in SoCal back in 1963. I think that’s when this song was written. California today doesn’t look like the Orange County I grew up in. I lived near the beach and life was quite good. Now I live in central California. Way too crowded and congested in the big 🍊 Orange!

I wish I was alive in this era, the music the clothes the art it's a beautiful time. Like when the first flower starts to bud in the beginning hint of spring. Like breathing clean air for the first time. I was an 80s baby but I belong in the 60s/70s

I was so fortunate to be a teenager through the sixties, so much beautiful music. Now l’m in my 70’s and l never tire of listening, so many memories.

I was in grad school in Boston, Massachusetts, and this song was hard-wired in my brain. It told me I needed to return to California. I had never had roots, really. But I had gone to UCLA and loved it, and loved Los Angeles. So I came back, and made my life and loves there. And have no regrets for that. But thanks to the Mamas and the Papas for keeping me centered, and taking me back.

I listened to this sound traveling cross country in 1988 from New England to Monterey CA. The sound inspired me to move out there. I knew no one and had no job. Spent the next 15 years there and had the time of my life and got the job of my dreams.

I was musically educated by my sister. She was 8 years older than me. I was born in 1960, but raised with music before my time, and hell it was and is great.

Brings back such memories. Incredible voices they had. Gives me chills.

Mama Cass. Such a voice. Wow.

I was 7 months old when this came out. I discovered music aged 11 when I living at my grandparent's house. Sixties music became my love. This is one of my favourite songs ever.

I absolutely wouldn’t want to live in California nowadays but I still fully believe back in the 60s and 70s California was probably the best place on earth to be

A great song. My first trip to California was the summer of 1983. I was lucky enough to travel the country playing freestyle frisbee for most of my twenties. At 2:09 that’s me. This was on that 1983 trip. My most recent trip was a couple of weeks ago to Santa Barbara CA where me and my partner were inducted into the frisbee freestyle hall of fame.

It was pointed out to me by other frisbee freestylers. Another clip from that day ended up in a movie called Hot Moves. It’s funny because I was a guy from Louisiana but guess I had a California look.

I was just thinking Cass is making some of the sliding dance moves Michael Jackson was known for years later.

If you're listening to the MAMAS AND THE PAPAPS 5 decades later then you're definitely a legend.

The one thing I think just about everyone is in agreement with,Is that the "Mamas and The Papas" music is world renowned and is more than just a memory. New generations will listen to their music and hear their amazing story. Their music and legacy will never die.

This song brings me back. Almost too painful to listen to. Im suffering from exquisite nostalgia
