*Winning the war is not about sophisticated weapon. US lost the war to Taliban and Israel lost the war to Hezbollah in 2006 Lebanon war. Hezbollah didn't have any warship or fighter jet*

*Malaysia has advanced anti-ship strike missiles (Kongsberg NSM) that have evasive maneuvers against enemy radar and it could fly at sea-skimming altitude with completely passive (undetected). About hundred of these stealth missiles have been purchased & received but they haven't installed on the ships yet due to LCS delay. However, the missile system is robust and it can be deployed standalone anywhere onshore to target ships and any land target. Effective missile range is about 250km. could never be. Malaysia doesnt have the economic power to support the military projection like the USA did. We here also lack manpower since we only have 32m pops, compared to our neighbor Indonesia that have almost the same population size with USA. i would say Indonesia have more potiental than Malaysia to be the USN version of ASEAN

There's a reason why Malaysia keeps quite regarding her military strength. And everytime people ask, they (The military) always downplay with safe answers so as to not reveal much. That is why there's not much info regarding Malaysia's military strength for a long time. Little do people know, Malaysia's military is very well respected in the world.. Even US military calls in Malaysian military for trainings. Why do you think UN requested Malaysia's military to help rescue US armies in the battle of Mogadishu back in 1993? Black Hawk Dawn the movie was about this incident but nowhere does it mentioned about the rescue being done by Malaysian armies. There's a reason why Malaysia keeps its military capabilities in the dark.. And I prefer it being kept in the dark. Secrets are meant to be kept as a secret. It should not be showed off. We just let people see Malaysian military as average. That's good enough..

Last few days ago, they recommissioned an patrol boat that have the vibe of North Korea patrol boat which were decommissioned many many years ago. The Perdana-class is a good ship but they already taking out its missile which makes it looks like a superior marine police boat.

A. it was not decommissioned, UMNO upon opening MMEA force RMN to give ships while UMNO get rich. B. Perdana CVG are still equipped with Excocet MA 38 or some claimed been upgrade to MA 40. C. The two PC was return back from MMEA, since again UMNO said those PC are old last year. So RMN were force the second time by UMNO. RMN decided up your towards UMNO and do an internal refit (sleep) on the two PC class not perdana class and shoved UMNO MMEA hey you don't know anything about ships. The two PC has been upgraded with newer com set and primary gun. It is now been deployed in Sabah to patrol and up yours UMNO and MMEA. Since MMEA new OPV failed and only 1 build and still under sea trials.. The Laksaman Ottomats was sold by UMNO despite RMN and ATM pleaded it can be used. Who needs enemy when we have UMNO.

Although malaysian navy operate some advance equipment, malaysian navy still lack in combat experience and mental capability among their personeel A real case of this lackings ever happened during teritorial conflict between indonesia and malaysia few years ago in tanjung datuk, a small peninsula on the western tip of borneo. In this small peninsula, indonesia own the northern tip of this peninsula in which malaysia have strong desire to own. Because if malaysia own this teritory, it will extend their water and zee teritory alot. To respond malaysian claim, indonesian government decided to build a lighthouse not far from indonesia-malaysia border Malaysian navy then send to disturb the construction by repeatedly entering indonesian side of water and making zigzag move to create strong wave that may disturb the ship that transporting construction material. To solve this issue, one personeel of indonesian elite navy force known as Kopaska (indonesian frogman) then send to secretly landed on top of the ship which is successful. On top of the ship, the kopaska soldier strongly demmanded the ship to return to malaysian teritory and if they refuse, he's threatening them that he will explode the ship by him self. The shocked malaysian navy personeel then decided to return to malaysian teritory whithout thinking straight that what this frogman said are not likely to happened. Because if he realy want to detonate the ship, he's not carrying even a single thing with him, not even a gun. Since malaysian navy don't have enough combat experience and are not familiar with that situation, they can easily casted away by just one kopaska soldier

It is so superior, it made Mongolian Navy looks like it actually exist with a large fleet armed with over 4.5 billions Gengkis Khan on horseback instead of a boat with 7 bored old men.

Guys, lets be honest. Our country arms forces strongest asset is always gonna be the ground forces, second only to our Air force because we learn from Past conflict, we're pretty much a classic geaurilla, jungle warfare country like Vietnam or any South East Asia country. So i seen most of the effort and budget went to army.

The RMN is weak. Its assets are ageing. It has just 2 light frigates. They were delayed in commissioning. The LCS frigates are badly behind schedule in being built and commissioned. Scandalous. This has affected the potency of the RMN. The fast attack craft are over 50 years old. That is far too old and they should have been scrapped. The NGPVs are good ships based on the MEKO design. They are OPVs and lack heavy weaponry. The Kasturi class corvettes are 40 years old and should have been replaced. The Laksmana class corvettes are newer but not enough in service. There are just 2 Scorpene submarines when at least 4 should be in service by now. They were delayed in cimmissioning. The Keris class LMS are new but, lightly armed and off little value in confronting a major adversary. The RMN has a good tradition but that is not enough for it to be a deterrence to a naval threat. Overall, the Singapore Navy (RSN) is off better quality today with newer platforms, leading edge technology and efficiency. In the 1970s the RMN was better than the RSN.

If Malaysia wants to stay neutral and prefer not to take side between China and the West, they should start to make their military defense system more self-sufficient than before in order to prevent the unnecessary needs of getting any military support from both sides of the world. If Malaysia gets help from China, U.S. may say that Malaysia is on China's side and vice versa. So to minimize this, Malaysia should start strengthening their military defense system, not just on navy but other ground and air defense system as well. As for the procurement, they may have no choice but to procure from both China and U.S. according to strength and price; otherwise the same take-side issue may rise again. Perhaps they should also start to do their own R&D on military equipment as well, which could reduce such dependencies on other countries, to be more self-sufficient, and boost economy.

The main vision and mission for every navy in the world has a different purpose, for the royal Malaysian Navy is equipped and strengthened to defend the borders of the waters up to the coast of Malaysia from threats, the fleet of warships owned is more for defense and humanitarian missions, definitely not a fleet of warships for attack missions , explore and expand the colony. in addition, the limited and small area of water that only requires a small or too large amount of assets which will cause a large defense budget, besides malaysia does not have valuable assets and interests in other countries such as the US which requires a lot of assets, human capital and is able to mission to protect their assets and interests in other places such as the Middle East. If a conflict occurs, the Malaysian Navy will not deploy military assets for an attack mission unless it happens within Malaysian territory, for example the Chinese Navy attacks one of the surveillance asset reefs in Malaysian waters, or there is a critical threat that requires early action.,sorry for my bad English
