    Now a couple weeks after Christine has passed away, this was epically ‘profound’. I’m glad they had this time together. ☮️❤️To the Fleetwood Mac Family, McVie’s family, and friends. The ‘Songbird’ and her gentle soul may be gone, but she lives on in her beautiful music.🎼🎶🎤

    Christine used to write letters to Lindsey saying things to the effect of "I'm not involved in any of this drama, I still consider you my great friend" and that simple reaching out by her was golden. It is sometimes all a man needs...someone to say "I got your back, friend".

    The forcing of Lindsey out of the band was such a huge mistake. I don't know what all of the circumstances were that led to it. But his absence left the band with an essential part missing. Now with Christine's passing, the band is now missing another essential element. Just as Lindsey is the boy with the magic fingers, Christine was the girl with the golden voice. I'm grateful for all of the wonderful music that they all gave us throughout the years. Christine will be missed.

    Lindsey didn't get forced out of the band it's the same thing as in 1987 Fleetwood Mac Wanted to go out on tour and Lindsey didn't in 1987 he threw a tantrum over it and he quit in 2018 similarly the band wanted to go out on tour and he wanted to do his solo career anyways the band voted and he blamed Stevie as he always does when something don't go the way he thinks it should they were at an event before this also where he allegedly said something not nice that upset her but to blame her entirely for him being out is ridiculous that was why he dropped the lawsuit to he even said he would be open to coming back c anyway that was before the loss of Christine since she passed Mick Fleetwood has said he feels like Fleetwood Mac is done.

    @@aprilgosa5779 Yeah people either forget or weren’t aware that Lindsey quit the band right after the release of Tango In The Night and right before they were set to go out on tour. He left them high and dry and forced them to scramble to hire two musicians to fill in for him. I remember how disappointed so many fans were that he didn’t tour with them. His history with the band is not pristine.

  • @caps689

    @caps689

    9 ай бұрын

    @@EastSide-qc5oy Please. 3/5ths of the band barely showed up to record on Tango which took 17 months because they were perpetually wasted and when they did show up they barely contributed. Lindsey with a huge assist from Christine gifted them a multi platinum album and their second highest selling WW and made the band relevant again. He didn't want to go on tour with them because he said it was always 10x worse on the road. Lindsey had to set up an RV in his driveway so they'd party there instead of bringing drugged out strangers into his home at 3am. By the end Mick was living in the RV and meeting his drug dealer in Lindsey's driveway. Mick later referred to himself then as an out of control coke monster who when he actually showed up passed out during recording sessions. John was having alcoholic seizures and blackouts and when he did show up often forgot to or couldn't play. Stevie showed up for about 2 weeks total then complained she wasn't on the album a lot and threatened to go to Rolling Stone about it. Lindsey later called it the worst recording experience of his life - he was burnt out. This was an album Mick pressured Lindsey into producing for the band because he was bankrupt. Also a solo album Lindsey turned into an FM album - not for the first or last time. But sure - he's the one that let the band down. They knew he didn't want to tour but Mick set it up anyway - and he never signed on which is what they were pressuring him to do. Mick told him he toured or was out of the band so he left. Priceless hypocrisy. Fans were disappointed in him because he didn't throw their dirty laundry out there in 1987 but they were happy to throw him under the bus and not for the first or last time. He was fired in 2018 in a Stevie him or me ultimatum. One done behind Christine's back and presented to her later as majority rules. The band lied about it - or rather Mick and Stevie did claiming he refused to tour for a year when he'd already signed contracts and had been negotiating a 2-3 month push to tour solo after Stevie had just unilaterally pushed the tour back from 2017 (the actual 50th anniversary) to tour another year for 24k. Even then he withdrew his request. Later when that truth came out Mick said it was because they were unhappy - after everyone but Stevie had just happily made and released an album. He sued them for breach of contract and they settled in 3 weeks and paid him his promised tour money because they legally had no cause to fire him. Stevie basically admitted the ultimatum was true with her later bullshit statement of I didn't get him fired, I fired myself. (so yeah him or me) Last year during interviews she was back though to claiming he didn't want to tour. Stevie dragged her heels on recording new FM music for about 15 years. First it was a claim that albums didn't sell so why bother - then she made a solo album. Then it was because Christine wasn't there and when she came back instead went into the studio to release her album of 40 year old demos instead of being with her band. She later said she would contribute and Mick wrote in his book they were just waiting for Stevie to add her tracks. Then unilaterally in 2015/2016 Stevie announced there would never be another FM album even as her band was working on one. That Mick caved and didn't call it FM was an insult to the rest of the band and another late black mark on their history.

    Creating this album must have been so magical for these 2 old friends. You can tell they have enormous love and respect for each other as singers, songwriters and musicians, no politics involved, just two members of a former Super group getting together to make music and write songs together. I really do think bringing John and Mick on board was an afterthought, Lindsey was probably Just looking for some nostalgia, they could have gotten anyone to play bass and drums on this collaboration album. The most important factor was the songwriting, music and harmonies of Buckingham and McVie which is legendary. These 2 were always the main force in the success of Fleetwood Mac's heyday.

    Both wrong. Bringing Mick and John on board wasn't an afterthought, & this wasn't FM so they weren't obligated to. Read where Lindsey had said that his songs (not sure how many) that he had used on this album were ones he had done earlier, in the "maybe later" file that all artists have, & he had made the demos with Mick & John already playing on them, so why should he get anyone else to play on them when the time came to use them, they were part of those songs from the beginning, before he & Christine even had the idea to collaborate. That doesn't sound like an afterthought to me, probably an unspoken code of ethics between musicians, besides the fact that it made Christine more comfortable than using others after her long sabbatical.

    @@pitbullmom214 & @Super Fantastic Happy Media Here's my two cents: After Christine (may she rest in peace) had re-joined the band, there was immediately a spirit of "now lets get on with what's left to do for us". For four members that meant, lets go to the studio and make a new album. The fifth member however, refused to make new music (for the band). Miss Nicks couldn't be persuaded, since in her opinion, at this day and age, selling new music to the public is difficult, and margins are low. She didn't want to go to the studio, but on the road with the existing body of work. So the decision was made it would be a duet album with ALL band members contributing, but Stevie Nicks. She is responsible for this being NO Fleetwood Mac album.

That is very rare in just among common, ordinary people, or not famous; and yet they toured the world for decades and was loved by millions, and yet she is so friendly and lights up with affection and love like a Christmas Tree. Stevie on the other hand, rarely smiles, and does NOT seem like a sweet person; it's no wonder she kicked Lindsay out; the audacity; she's mean. She really sold her soul for fame and you can see it in her persona. And when you see old people that do not wrinkle; that is not normal. And here is another example: On the 7th of April - weeks before Fleetwood Mac did the CBS interview and months before Lindsey Buckingham told his own version of what happened - photographer Joe Compton, who has been a backstage guest at Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' concerts for 30 years, posted the following message on a Facebook page called 'Mike Campbell Fans': "The truth re my April 1 post - Mike will be lead guitarist on Fleetwood Mac tour ; Lindsey-Nicks issues came to a head - LB fired.” Read also the fifth comment (No. 5 out of 98, so you may have to press "Earlier comments" a few times). Here Joe Compton says: "Stevie started tour prep and finally decided she could not stand to work w LB---ultimatum to the band : Him or me. Band asked tour promoters did they want Mac w Stevie or LB? 20 to 1 vote in favor of Stevie...LB fired and Mike asked to join....I expect a second guitarist w good vcls to also join but don't know who." Here is a link to Joe Compton’s post: facebook.com/groups/MikeCampbellFans/search/?query=joe%20compton it should be noted that Joe Compton isn't a Lindsey Buckingham fan - and he doesn’t like Lindsey Buckingham as a person. (Read the second comment / No. 2 out of 98: “LB has too high opinion of self”.) No, Joe Compton is a fan of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, so what interested HIM, was what guitarist Mike Campbell was going to do as a musician after the death of Tom Petty. Unlike most Lindsey Buckingham fans, Joe Compton thinks Mike Campbell is a great addition to Fleetwood Mac. And he obviously heard the news about the firing from Mike Campbell. What Joe Compton said regarding Mike Campbell replacing Lindsey soon turned out to be true, and therefore many fans never doubted what he said about Stevie's "him or me" ultimatum. What he said about “a second guitarist with good v[o]c[a]ls also to join” also turned out to be true (when Neil Finn joined), so it’s pretty obvious that Joe Compton knew EXACTLY what he was talking about. And that's not all: The 1st of July the famous Fleetwood Mac co-producer Richard Dashut who's been close to the band for years, posted to Twitter a message that confirms that Stevie forced Lindsey out of Fleetwood Mac: "I’ve been asked for my opinion on Lindsey’s departure from FM quite a few times. Alright, here it is. I believe what has transpired amounts to the final chapter in Stevie’s & Lindsey’s relationship. Power balance finally tipped over. Creativity spilled, “never going back again“. There is also a fan video of Lindsey talking to some fans about the imminent Fleetwood Mac tour and how he intends to do his solo gigs on the band's off days. Here is a link: twitter.com/savemeaplace/status/988489477986443265 This video was recorded the 27th of January, which was the day after the MusiCares event. And that's interesting because in the CBS interviews three months later the band claimed that at this point he had not agreed to tour! ... But why on earth would he then tell some fans about the imminent Fleetwood Mac tour? Mick Fleetwood claims they had hit a brick wall, but if that's true, why then did Lindsey talk about the love between the five of them, when he did his speech at MusiCares? It was pretty obvious that he wasn’t aware of any crisis in the band; (just like he says in the Rolling Stone interview). On June 29th Lindsey's wife Kristen Buckingham (aka kbchrush) posted to Instagram a straight up denial of the band's story. She wrote: "He didn’t ask for any such delay. Ironically, they are starting later now than what they had planned with Lindsey." She calls the firing: "Cruelest move I’ve ever seen. Lindsey did not deserve any of it." Link: instagram.com/p/BkmFVqHAhT2/ That's why Lindsey himself said (on May 12th 2018) : "I have sadly taken leave of my band of 43 years, Fleetwood Mac.This was not something that was really my doing or my choice.” There's no way around it: The band lied when they claimed that Lindsey wanted to postpone their tour. Stevie wanted Mike Campbell in the band and just needed some sort of excuse to fire Lindsey; hence the “him or me” ultimatum to the band - and the “Lindsey didn’t want to tour”-lie. In October Lindsey told the Rolling Stone magazine his own version of what happened, and he pretty much confirmed what many fans already knew: That Stevie had given the band an ultimatum, "him or me": www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/lindsey-buckingham-fleetwood-mac-firing-733460/ And later Lindsey was also interviewed by CBS: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYuqyMxpqtSodNI.html

    Congrats to these two genuine artists and musicians for having the guts to release a new CD of new material despite today's "commercial" climate. And despite what their band mate Stevie Nicks feels about the creation of new songs: that it isn't "worth it" for the Mac to record a new CD because it won't sell 5 million copies or whatever. A true musician makes music because he or she HAS TO. They have NO CHOICE. Music is in their veins. The members of Fleetwood Mac have sold enough albums and have played enough profitable gigs to where they have the financial freedom to do anything they want artistically. Lindsey's last 3 solo albums rival some of his material with the Mac, and they probably didn't sell more than 90,000 copies a piece. He doesn't give a damn. Why? He had no choice but to create new music because he's a true artist. Stevie Nicks, as much as I love her songs, has her entire self esteem wrapped up in the commercial acceptance of her work. Unless her new single is #1, she feels horrible about herself. How sad for someone who has a gift; that she needs 5 million people to approve of her creativity. I lost a lot of respect for her during "Destiny Rules" documentary about the making of the Fleetwood Mac CD "Say You Will." She was literally on the floor praying to the "commercial Gods" for acceptance of the band's work. Actually, I didn't lose respect for her; I felt sad for her. In that DVD she showed a real lack of self esteem and a need to see a therapist. At some point record company bastards and naysayers got the best of her. It was truly sad to witness. I am just glad that Lindsey and Christine are following the muse. Just like David Bowie did until the day he died from cancer. A musician never stops making music.

    I still have more respect for this record than ANYTHING the Mac have done since Stevie fired Lindsey. Lindsey's new solo record is better than "Say You Will" which Stevie refused to make a double CD because she was literally "praying to the commericial Gods" because her drug habits had left her broke. And the Christine/Lindsey solo album is better than "Say You Will" too. The other people in the group (besides maybe Christine) went along with Stevie because they were broke drunk drug abusers themselves. Don't get me wrong: Lindsey and Christine were not saints, but they never allowed substances to get in the way of their artistry.

    I always thought there was a certain synchronicity between Christine and Lindsey, I always heard how in F Mac how eerily their voices blended. Sometimes it would be tricky to tell the two apart in singing. They're both very melodic singers too. In F Mac, musically, imho I always thought the two complimented each other greatly. I feel this uniting musically new album, as a duo is a great, idea. Long awaited. I'm looking forward to hearing the music when the album comes out. You also know that they are doing this for the sake of the art of songwriting, and the love for that, not the money. Two very heartfelt people, finally putting creative juices together, as a musical marriage in a way, and the music created between the two, will be their children.

    happiness2007 agreed. especially since they asked her over the course of a few years if she'd come in and do a few songs. stevie kept saying "i don't want to do another fleetwood mac album." so what, the band name dies? that's not fair to the band. there's been 40 different incarnations of the band - many without stevie - and they've all been called FM. somehow this is different just because she's gonna do more nostalgia tours while the rest of the band wants to make new music? sigh. it makes me sad.

  • @redletter2008

    @redletter2008

    victreebel - Agreed. Makes me sad and mad. The anger comes from the fact that Stevie has led Mac fans on for years regarding one final album. Nobody made her do this. She said early last year she was absolutely going to participate. Then, all of a sudden, her horrendous 2014 solo album HAD to be promoted (2 years after its ignored release) and the rest of her magical life was too busy to sing into a microphone after Lindsey took her gibberish poem and worked it into something presentable. But the worst part, for me anyway, was her saying to the press that there would never be another Fleetwood Mac album and that nobody buys new records anyway. What a bitchy attitude. So, Stevie will prevent the band from using its own name because she choses not to contribute or participate (even though she has always done the least amount of work in the band), will refuse to follow through on an album she told fans she'd work on BUT will tour with them next year because that makes her lots of money. The sadness is that we know they (all five of them) could have made another great album and ended their recording career on a high note. But they seem to be catering to the whims of their difficult diva. I wish them luck and despite my anger at Stevie, I will always love her music (most of it anyway - that last solo album belongs in a dumpster).

I'm not saying he wasn't probably a jerk in the past. i'm sure he was in the 70s. but she's still holding a grudge and can't be a professional member of the band. and I say that as someone who VASTLY prefers Stevie as a singer/songwriter.

There were 10 songs on the album, five by each artist although they did help each other a lot with all the tracks for the most part. This album is a joy to listen too. It’s unbelievably sad that this group of people couldn’t find a way to make this a final Mac album. As much as I love Stevie’s songs I don’t miss her contributions on this. It does baffle me that she couldn’t find the time to sing even just 2 songs into a microphone somewhere in the world and let Lindsey do his thing with them. There was clearly a bond between the 4 of them involved in this project. It’s interesting that it took such a short amount of time and without the drama that seemed to be a constant with all of the previous albums. It does make you wonder who caused the drama. I really appreciate that Christine and Lindsey still have the need to produce new music. The constant rehash of old stuff on tour has become tedious.

And all the while, seemingly hanging back in a very humble way, but when she comes up to bat, delivers the most soothing, beautiful, and powerful rock songs that I've ever heard. I'd like to have a giant collection of all Christine's original songs from the very beginning, all the way through. Someday I will make a collection of them.

Very adequate since that Album also is a Lindsey/Christine/Mick&John effort! For my taste nothing is missing here!

    She looks great! I never thought Christine would be prettier than Stevie. Today. In 2017 she is! Cool as well. She retired in 98 because she was uninspired. Well, so was Stevie, but the dough. the beautiful beautiful dough she could not resist. so she toured and toured and toured and toured, smiling while the Money rolled in. Fine. No Law broken, but the mystique is all gone and that is sad. Being a brand instead of a band is what mac became. Thankfully Mcvie regained inspiration to Write and record, just like lindsey. Together they are dynamite and they deserve a good much praise for putting in the time and giving the fans this gift.

    Through the mid 70s and into the early 80s Stevie was the hot girl singer in that band...Fleetwood Mac. The rock chick every girl wanted to be and every guy wanted to be with. Christine was the dependable, grounded older sister keeping things together in the background. Then 1987 came and the band came out with Tango in the Night. Lindsay quit and the band hit the road without him. The fans had not seeing the band in a while. What we saw was a strange role reversal. Christine was now the hot older sister. The sexy cougar every young man could learn from . Stevie was the chubby eccentric younger sister with the 80s version of a bouffant and not in a cool way as the B52s already did that the cool way. Years of drinking and drugging were taking a toll. She now became the Cindy (but the Cindy from the brady bunch variety hour...find on youtube) while Christine became the Marcia. And the rest is history.

    fundies 2 - That was a terrific and accurate description of Chris and Stevie in the late '80s. Chubby and eccentric are apt terms for Nicks circa '87-'89. I remember someone showing me their "The Other Side of the Mirror" album cover, and you could see that her waste was "trimmed" by a graphic artist or someone. Once you see it, you will never again miss it. Just like that "witch face" in Stevie and Lindsey's hands on the cover of "Mirage." Stevie really shaped up in the mid '90s and looked amazing for "The Dance" and "Trouble In Shangri-La."
