Harvey probably has one of the coolest basis out there. I haven't seen many people make a Harvey model nor have him in his real life basis livery. A very nice custom.

I always thought that the Dapol B4 body would make a decent basis for a scratch-built Dübs Crane. Funny to see you use the chassis for your version.

Personally, as much as I love Harvey, my favorite Crane Engine is the lesser known Pannier Crane. There's barely any information out there about them, and as far as we know only 3 were made. I think it's the mystery that makes me like them best.

Cyclops, hercules and steropes , definately unusual engines, Nlr had a crane tank too but thats got no info around either 😕

I’m a volunteer at the foxfield light railway where dübbs is based and she’s undergoing overhaul currently. I went in her boiler the other week to brush some crap out.

I love Harvey and that you did him in a pre-sodor livery. I can't wait to see the weathered version. I have to say seeing all your cool moving engines makes me want to get some of that track instead of our wooden track or at least do some awesome paint jobs on my son's wooden rail models. Also your new mountain covered in it's plaster looks great. I was a little confounded with the preview version but I should know from your past train videos that you deliver on your statements. That looks professionally done!

The reason there's no available models of crane tanks is likely the same reason why Bachmann still can't give us Diesel 10: loading gauge. Fitting a crane or a hydraulic claw atop an existing locomotive will almost definitely make it too tall to comply with NEM or NMRA standards.

You can probably make a 009 or N-Scale Harvey using the Take-Along/Take n' Play Model with a Kato Chassie. Just something to think about

I will do Harvey when I do modeling and do what you wanted to do and use a trackmaster on a pug chassis because we LOVE Dapol’s quality (sarcasm) and do a industrial livery but with a bright red

I’ve always wondered if Harvey is the Thomas equivalent of the crane engine from real life, or if he’s meant to be a fictional sibling. To my knowledge (and please correct me if I’m wrong) there’s only one crane engine of Harvey’s design. So is he meant to be that engine, or in the Thomas universe is there more than one?

Bachmann and Hornby should’ve produced their own official model of Harvey 10-9 years ago

It's a shame about Dapol. The factory is about 10 minutes from me in Chirk, Wrexham, Wales. And although the quality is questionable sometimes when you visit the factory the staff are the nicest people in the world

Would one of the generic 0-4-0 chassis’s from Hornby (such as the one on Percy from the Circus Train Set) work as a chassis for Harvey? There are literally thousands of these so one could be picked up for pennies and look the part on him too!

@@ItsTrainBoy ahh fair enough, I can see how the motor on them would be too high to fit under the body shell for Harvey. And you’re right about the majority of Hornby 0-4-0s, older ones are like pocket rocket, however they retooled them a few years ago so that they run much more realistically!

I would suggest if anyone wants to make this custom to use a Hornby pug chassis but that is my opinion

I've never heard anyone pronounce Dubs as 'doobs', and I always though 'duhbs' was the right way to say it. Regardless, that company also built some tiny 0-4-0 tank engines for New Zealand Railways (known as the first A class).
