I saw this documentary a while back about an art museum, and the art restoration team talked about the difficulties of their job - where they had this painting that was really muddy on the corner because of some varnish applied during the time that it was painted, either by the original painter or by the original owner. The restoration team said that was the headache of their job - constantly trying to suss out what was more important, readability (it'd look like a better painting without the varnish) or artist's intent. Seeing them remaster the game feels like it has a similar amount of mind games to try and work through.

I've always been interested in pre-rendered backgrounds in games like Grim Fandango, Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy VII-VIII, and more. It'd be great if Double Fine can elaborate on it further. I know there's a glimpse of it at 3:31 and the dev commentary in the Remastered version but I'd love to see an in-depth look of the backgrounds and art style. Double Fine and 2 Player should consider making a video about it.

Hey, it's Bret Mogilefsky! I remember spazzing out on him on IRC during an interview as a kid. I really thought I was cool too, showing him how I'd broken the game so Manny would hold several objects out of his inventory at once... To me, it was just fun. He said it made him sad. God, I must've looked like a colossal asshole.

Guilherme Eddino If it was cross-platform, the quality would be downgraded to handle the console. No offense but it was quite the god-send that it was only for the PS4, PSVITA, PC, Linux and Mac.

DAT GAEM!!1 When i've played this first time, I was about 12 or so. I didn't understand most of the jokes(I began to learn english in university or so). I couldn't get most of the references, but I was fascinated by the flow of the game and its conjuring way of explaining the travel of living into the land of the dead. Feelings i've had back then they're unexplainable!

If i've understood it correctly from previous videos, you will be able to switch back and forth between the new graphics and the old. Will this also be the case for the music? Now don't get me wrong, the new live recorded music sounds amazing! But there is still a certain charm to the old score, and for me there's a lot of nostalgia associated with it. So even though i definitely want to hear the new music and see the updated graphics when i play through it on Ps4, it would be nice if i had the option to choose. If not, it's not the end of the world. It's not like the old game is erased from existence, but it sure would be a nice feature :)

in the remastered versions of monkey island you were able to switch between 2 completely different version. The original had EVERYTHING in it's original state and the remastered version had almost everything changed. Music as well. There were big differences between the musical styles. IMHO none of the old charm was lost, because you were able to switch at ANY given moment. So if that's the case now, then everything will be fine.

It's looking to be heading in the right direction! I'm excited. And I'm still curious about how Glottis will look. That's the one character that suffered from the technical limitations (I even reacted to that back when the game was new and I first played it), so I'm hoping for a gently updated mesh form him that makes him look as great as he deserves, without anything of what makes him him. That's a tall order, but I think this team could pull it off. (Unless they don't dare touching him.)

Love the game but not a great remaster. Lots of the tiny objects on the ground you have to pick up are now even harder to see with the new shadows and lighting. Also a lot of the textures “remastering” wasn’t very good, look at the sprouting gun for example.
