What a story, it blew my mind when he said the music was the easiest part, its what gives the game such a strong identity and makes it so memorable in my opinion, and to think he made this entire game under such stress in his personal life, man i'm a even bigger fan now.

What a story. My heart aches for the challenges this family faces. Thanks for making a video like this, IGN.

Didn't expect the story of his son after the game was released. That made me cry. He is the true hero who is able to create the whole game.

Axiom Verge may actually be my favorite Metroidvania. The gameplay, the artwork, the level design, the music, the writing, just beautiful. Won't pretend it's perfect in every way, but no game is.

Damn this hit me right in the feels. All my prayers go to this talented man and his family.

The atmosphere of Axiom Verge is really out of this world (and rightfully so).

Whatever you're working on next Tom, release it on as many platforms as possible so those that wish to support you directly can buy it multiple times.

His personal story is just… my heart goes out for him and his family. He has a heart of gold and is a role model. Hoping for the best for him and his fam!

Played it earlier this year and halfway into the sequel. Thomas your games are awesome! Excited to play any of your future projects and pray that your family has a stable and happy future. Just like Trace's story, the world is a cruel and unforgiving one, but with enough courage and determination a new path may be a opened up and a way out of despair will arrive. Here's to Axiom Verge and all Indie Games and its developers out there. They all deserve naximum support.

Checking in to say Axiom Verge 2 is great. Love Tom Happ's imagination and vision. As long as he's makin em, i'll be playin em.

This guy this artist has made one of the best 2d action exploration platformers ever

Life is crazy for everyone so just be nice to one another.

One thing of relevance that few people know is that hyperbaric chambers (basically oxygen therapy) can help heal and reverse damage, including brain damage. That might help his son if he did that and the younger he is the better it is likely to work. No guarantees but it is a relatively easy thing to try and has worked well for some people.

despicable healthcare system. the US should really get it together in that department...

Axiom Verge has always had a special place in my heart and this video just makes it even more so

He’s a legend in my opinion. AV 90% filled the hole in my heart that the 2d Metroids left.

they should be. Im horrified at the revelation that all the hospital had to do was check the kids blood a few hours before they did and he would have been fine

America's lacking healthcare system fails another family.. If the hospital staff simply cared enough to inform this couple, they could have their son's health. It's unreal

@@alext3892 America has the best specialized concierge medicine in the world. Meaning if you have Oprah money or above, it’s all gravy. But if you’re middle to lower class, getting flu shot is a challenge
