Everybody talks about how Megan and Jonathan were the PERFECT casting for Anne and Gilbert....but the rest of the cast was perfect, as well. ESPECIALLY for Marilla, Matthew, Ms. Rachel and Diana.

Doesn't matter how many years have passed. This version is a class on its own. No other adaptation can hold a candle.

This was THE BEST production hands down. No one has ever been able to replicate it. Perfect cast! One of my all time favorites. Thanks for posting!

Everything about this production was a masterpiece

Megan Follows is the ONLY ANNE for me ... PERFECT and so are all the other Fantastic Actors & Actresses' .... every one was just perfect for their role!!! I've watched other versions and they don't come even close to tis production!!!! A HUGE THANK YOU to all the Actors, Actresses', Directors, Producers, Crew ... EVERYONE ..... U all made HISTORY with this Production and made all watch it soooooo HAPPY!!! Sad that some of the actors & actresses have passed away.

It’s like looking at a parallel universe to see “Anne” and “Diana” looking and acting like normal young adults from the mid ‘80’s lol

45 years later, as Catherine d’Medici, Megan is still perfect & in attitude & smile she hasn’t seemed to age. In Aus, we were SO thrilled to see this, as this book was such a beautiful world. the director brought it perfectly to life.

Watching this TV film as a child made me fall in love with Canada (beautiful country with the nicest people) and the books of L.M. Montgomery. Still haven't visited Prince Edward Island but post Covid, it will happen.

Megan follows was a wonderful Anne Shirley

All their efforts resulted in THE PERFECT program that I've watched over and over and over again. It's truly a treasure!

Seeing the scene of Anne and Diana standing on top of the cliff in PEI is fascinating to me because my husband and I went to that place in PEI last summer. It was a breathtaking views but there was only one quite narrow dirt road in to get to the cliff and it was nerve wracking to drive on. When cars were trying to drive out while you’re driving in and you both have to pull over to let each other pass but you practically end up in a field by doing so. Lol All I could think of when we finally got to Cape Tryon was how in the heck did they get all the film trucks and equipment in here. I also wondered which exact cliff Anne and Diana stood on. I think I might have guessed correctly but we unfortunately couldn’t get over to it but I’m not sure I was right on which one it was. I’ll never forget our trip to PEI. I had dreamed of going there since I first saw the movie when I was a kid. It was a dream come true and I’m so glad we bought the filming locations in PEI guide book as we pretty much made it to all but 2 locations. It was magical!

Everyone who was involved in this production should feel so good knowing how many people love love love this film! this is my favorite movie of all time! The actors the director all the support people should know that their work in this film has blessed so many people and continues to give a gift that is so rare in the world of entertainment today. Was interesting to see how in part it was made, thank you.

Anne Shirley has been my most inspirational character for all of my life and this was the film that introduced me to her at three years old. I can’t remember my life without Anne! ❤

Canada's response to Little House on the Prairie.

They knew they had a hit in the making before the audience had even seen it, and how right they were. A phenomenal story brought to life by a phenomenal cast. I’ve watched it so many times, it’s a classic.

That was wonderful. To watch how they pulled it all together to create this masterpiece was a joy to watch. Megan really was the best casting choice for the role but everyone else was too, from best-boy to producer. This mini series was vastly more than the sum of its parts.

Absolutely beyond amazing. No other adaption, comes even close, to this one off masterpiece

My goodness I can’t believe it’s been 40 years! I remember the first time I saw this production of Anne Green Gables. I was just a girl, but I fell madly in love with Prince Edward Island and the time period. Celluloid collars, and organza dresses! I still get sentimental when I watch it.

I always thought Anne was so pretty

Watching these scenes being taped, brought tears of childhood ways. Anne absolutely nailed the essence of an orphaned girl. I have seen in my life orphaned children. But I think when we are adolescent girls go through a lot of emotions. Anne of green gables stirred a lot of unspoken words in our own lives, actually in my own life that I had to process. The author L. M. Montgomery and the books bring tears in my eyes. She touched my soul like no other author. Anne of Green Gables will always be my most cherished books. I have to thank all the actors specially Meghan Fellows. Gilbert Blythe, Colleen Dewhurst, Mathew’s, Mrs Lynde and of course Kevin Sullivan and his crew who have worked so tirelessly. Thanks everyone once again and may you all be blessed always as this movie will go on forever.

I got rid of all my VHS a long time ago, even if you can find a video player (which is unlikely) the tapes were almost nothing but white line's through the screen lol

That production was the epitome of pure, wholesome and quality television entertainment. The casting, acting, music and scenery were superb! Although geared for a younger audience, I, an old bachelor at 55 years watched and marveled at the the episodes presented on PBS in 1985. Now at 84 and still a much older bachelor and still old "softie" enjoy watching "Anne" from time to time. Especially listening to Haygood Hardy's wonder theme.

Its very unfortunate the sound is so low. Even with my sound turned up as loud as it would go, still struggling to hear. What a shame.

The ads on this are brutal. Waaay too many and they blast loudly which wouldn't be an issue except the audio on this is so quiet it's a really bad contrast. Disappointing Sullivan :'(

No one but Megan Fellows could have been Anne she was perfect! I’ve seen her in other shows and she was awful in them, but perfect as Anne!
