There is an updated version of the game on steam, new graphics etc - Age of Mythology Extended Edition. But I agree, AoM 2 would be brilliant.

This is actually the exact way to NOT make a game. AoM killed Ensemble Studios due to the normalisation of crunch culture. When companies have their best talent working 15 hours a day for 67 weeks, they burn out. They develop severe mental issues, family issues, health issues etc. It's probably why there hasn't been a game like AoM since. Developers simply don't want their lives to be destroyed.

A moment of silence for one the best game dev ensemble studios , i really miss them

Graphics aside, the original game still holds up very well to this day, and that soundtrack is almost to die for. If I had more than two thumbs they would *all* be up. Thank you, Ensemble, for such an epic game.

This is one acomplished work of digital art. Legendary game

i am greek and i LOVE how they used the archaic language of our ansestors of witch we can even understand a number of words and help us re learn more of it and our old culture. i liked the game from less than 10 years old when i seen my big brother playing it and now that im 18 i still love it so much. the developers made this game so unique even for the other civilizations making me wanting to play as them and also now that im older i have a lust for history and thanks to this game some mythologycal knowledge. of all the strategy games one of the top 5 for me is certainly age of mythology.

μιά απ' τα ίδια φίλε! Same here, Age of Mythology made my childhood even greater, I was just a kid at the time, now I'm studying to be a software engineer. This 90's - early 00's loose, not-so commercial, vibe makes me feel nostalgic. These people really look like they had a great time making the game! Great times.

Same but just in 2020 I remember back in 2003 when i played it first time ever in my school friends basement, we would do pvp and against AI too, and by god that was a good time. Didnt talk with that for about 10 years, just re met him again in 2019 by pure chance. I have just remembered of these times, so in gonna play that game with him this christmas

every worker on AoM: Extended Edition and Tales of the Dragons should watch this video 10 times each day to learn how make something right... I still own Extended edition but was never able to play it due to lag/bugs, now some people say it's playable but you know what? fuck it! I'm much happier with my old AoM: Titans playing on voobly

Many years back, this was the best game out there which i was playing with my long gone brother.. So many years later fate has made me a 3d artist, and seeing the actual uv maps of my favorite game's models is so awesome. Nostalgia. Love you ensemble.

Wonderful documentary, to this day I still play AOM (sometimes I get so hooked that I play from about 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m).

AND HERE WE ARE GUYS :,) 2024 ENJOYING THE AMAZING WORK THESE GUYS DID FOR HUMANITY (i thank them all, and wish them the best)

They should make an updated version with more myths or stories added in. I loved reading all the stories. * i know ensamble studio died but still

If age of mythology was able to be modded more it would still be popular. Imagine people creating cultures based on fictional stories like Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, etc. Actually infinite potential.

These were the people who made my childhood memorable,the fun of playing aoe2 and aom cannot be compared to anything I do today.I was 5-6 years old in 2008 when i played these games on my father's computer and it took me months to complete aom campaign and the happiness i felt after completing it and also the sadness to see arkantos die and being revived.Thank to these good people for making my childhood ❤️. Also waiting for retold 23 feb.

Who else watched the cutscene compilation, the Cinematic Intro & this Making of within a few days?? It is so inspiring & encouraging to watch videos like this. As a dreamer and as an upcoming programmer who is thirsty for game development, I find this super helpful: If you put hard work into something which is your passion, then you will overcome any hurdles!

This is probably the game I played the most in my entire life. Probably the one I enjoyed th most too. Oh man, I miss it so much!

The art style of AoM feels timeless. When zoomed in they do look super old but from normal gameplay view they’re awesome!

Damn it's weird to watch this when you realize it was made 19 years ago, because except the outdated game looks and old monitors it looks like it was made just a few years ago.

I wish they had supervision over tale of the dragon. That expansion was a colossal disaster

I hope this project continues.. maybe in future expansions we could see some Mezoamerican mythologies? I think there'd be a lot to work with... e.g., favor generation via human sacrifice, myth units like Quetzalcoatl or the Ahuizotl, maybe some poisonous range units or "guerilla" melee units that can walk through trees.... and perhaps create a campaign involving the myth of El Dorado.

I still play this game on a daily basis, online on Voobly client multiplayer. It is very very competitive all the die hard fans play there, some really really strong players on there. I know there is 10's of thousands of newer better games on xbox ps4 etc, but since a child i always loved the aoe franchise. So i still play this game daily, its very fun online on voobly.

Indeed in France AOM is soooo popular! Take Ensemble Studios back!
