It's probably implied that they've been attempting to build settlements in multiple places, but are struggling since they were abandoned by the gods. This was probably the most recent place that they attempted to settle in without Kronny's help.

I was disappointed in how the differing gods never interacted with each other or even mentioned each other. The game cutscenes pretend that Poseidon is the only god of the ocean when the Norse and the atlanteans have their own Sea gods.

@@NostalgicGamerRickOShay To be fair, they probably didn't count on the game being successful enough for an expansion pack when it was originally made, and you could make the argument that the different civilizations refer to the same gods by different names, as is implied in Titan Quest.
