Age of Mythology Retold is coming September 4, 2024 to Xbox and PC. Information and history of the Minotaur (turn on subtitles):
Scientific name: Homo taurus
Size: about 9 feet tall
Diet: humans, especially maidens
King Minos prayed to Poseidon to send him a snow-white bull as a sign he was fit to rule Crete. He promised to sacrifice the animal, but when it appeared, he kept it for his own. In retribution, Poseidon cause Minos' wife to fall in love with the bull. Their offspring was the Minotaur, a beast with the head of a bull and the body of a man. Minos had a huge labyrinth constructed under Crete where the Minotaur could be kept. Each year seven boys and seven girls were sent into the maze to be eaten by the beast. Eventually the Minotaur was slain by Theseus who unraveled a ball of twine as he moved into the labyrinth so he could find his way out.
The legend of the minotaur may have originated because of the importance of the bull in Minoan ritual. Minoan buildings were adorned with bull horns, their hourglass shields covered with bull hide. Early frescoes show Minoan youths leaping over the horns of bulls as a form of sport.
This cinematic was made using the "Age of Mythology™: The Titans Expansion Pack" video game, with the intent of creative expression. The final version of the New X Editor (available at AOM Heaven) was utilized. All units and sounds are original to the game; no mods were used.

Incredible. The real myth of the Minotaur. Told through AoM. What a day to be alive and witness such videos by such master of game cinematography.

I used to mess around with the AOM editor so believe me when I say I truly appreciate the craft and dedication to make someone so detailed and unique yet so remarkably legible and well put together. It’s just masterful. The beauty of the design, the clarity of the storytelling, even the slight humour of the… sound effects. It all adds up to the most brilliant and joyful thing. I love it. One of the most iconic units in AOM glad to see it getting its own lore video as always outstanding work the visualisation of the sacrifices being brought to the minuator was really good must be really scary to be one of those 14 kids.

This one was relatively short, but still a great video once more. _Was not expecting the "sound effects" at __1:49__,_ but I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found the "woman hurt" voices oddly arousing in this game. *(I had yet to discover Age of Wonders 1, to know how tame this was by comparison)*

Incredible use of the Greek buildings to make that big temple complex. I can't wait to go back to making scenarios when the remake comes out
I absolutely love this video. Personally I would have added Ariadne, Minos's daughter who helped Theseus navigate the labyrinth and escape. Probably could have made Atalanta her stand-in.

What incredible work! I hope it continues to re-tell the story of myths, culture and complement the game's civilizations. I would like to suggest, if you wish, adapting a little of the story of Homer's Odyssey, you can make great use of the models and tell this wonder through AOM.
