Definitely, infrastructure Development in Sri Lanka can stand up with any devolved country. With so much more to improve. Middle class upwards houses are more spacious and well built much in larger scale with more facilities. When you compare with other South Asian countries and developing countries, Sri Lankan living standards are much higher than the rest.

Sri Lanka is the cleanest country in south Asia

This year Wesak celebrations were special, as a Nation we were not able to celebrate wesak in its full glory for the past 4 years due to various issues we had to experience during this period. It is one of the main religious events in our nations calendar in which the main Buddhist population and all other citizens too look forward and join in the activities. It is a special time for Sri Lankans.

Please visit Anuradhapura in noth central of Sri Lanka for another great Buddhist event called "Poson" On June 3rd. Welcome to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰❤️

You can expect the same in Anuradapura for poson festival on June 3 especially Mihintale

Normally dansal queue are very long but after it start, for one session at least 150-200 people get served with foods so you do not need to stay in queue very long, and again some places no queue at all.

Yeah we have found the next day some dansals where the queue was big but it went fast 10-15 minutes)

although Gangaramaya is the main "vesak zone", there were few other "vesak zones" in Colombo and around the country. You should have also visited to see some Pandals.

Dansela is because of lord buddas teachings..It says to give away your belongings to improve your mind reducing thanha.(thoughts which leads to collect things)..From this buddhists want to shorten the Sansara(repetition of birth) and to reach nirwana .. You are invited to read Theravada to entertain the inner aspect of buddhism .. Thanks for visiting SL.

Thank you for sharing about our Vesak. I am watching from Australia feel so home sick. I left Sri Lanka 1979. Your video so good. Looking through beautiful young couple visiting Sri Lanka. You two given so much respect and discribed every thing about Vesak as it is. You should come to Sri Lanka Christmas time too. It's so grand decorated. Even population majority Buddhist, we celebrate every religion and everyone get a public holiday on the day. Sri Lankans get so many Public holidays. Thanks for your kind sharing. Love it. ❤

Basically, lord Buddha teaches to attain Nibbana (No rebirth) to prevent sorrowness of the life in the basis of impermanency of the matters. To do this we have to eliminate feelings like Raaga (Sexual feelings), Attachments, Greediness, Dosha (Hate) and Moeha (Foolishness) etc. Womens are advised to wear full cloth to avoid Raaga (Sexual feelings) of others. It is not a buddhas teaching but it has become a custom

The "buffet" is not an actually a buffet. Its called a "Dansala". They are organized by the residents of the areas or families expecting nothing in return but good karma for giving essentails for free to other people who comes to see wesak celebrations. In this case it was a free meal.

Vesak lantern is attractive and completely related to our life (body). At present people use electric light for them to keep them alive for a long time (to add beauty to the celebration) but In the past, people used to light up them using real fire like candles. Then when the wind is coming,🍃 lanterns start moving and burn. So the beautiful lantern is ruined. Just like our life. Even though our life is nice and we decorate our body with many jewels. Everything ends up with death. So Vesak is kinda like a reminding day,Not to be sad but to realize the truth of life and karma.So this day gives solace. That's why this day is filled with light(means enlightenment) ,slow pure music and dansals (to help people). I just wanted to give some more information about this celebration😇😇thanks for coming sri lanka. Hope you enjoy the other celebrations like theru (hindu celebration) and other cultural celebrations too. Have a nice vacation in sri lanka. 💐💐💐💐💐💐🤩
