    Ronnie Coleman was such another level to the majority of the top dudes today. He lifts so much more than for example current Mr Olympia Phil Heath. His muscle was all strength. I feel like alot of the top guys today are obviously strong but not as strong as they should be for being so damn big.

    #2 using a wider grip on the bar (wider then usual) simply forces you to enlarge your input of muscular strength; it can be easily explained with the law of the lever (effort x a = resistance x b) a stays about the same, no matter how fart apart you position your hands, the resistance stays the same as well; if you enlarge b (your grip wideness) then the [effort] you have to put in increases as well

    #1 would be that you can create the highest active tension in the lower part of the bench movement since this is the area of the muscles highest power potencial (which is approximately 120% of its natural length) I guess thats why many pro bb make deep partial reps when benching; markus' exercise is simply a different form (though his form isn't quite perfect for partial reps)

    its difficult to explain because in english, the word "strain" describes both, the objective weight you are pressing, as well as the subjective feeling of the weight; but those are two completely different components the only thing changing in our example is the subjective feeling; objectively you are pressing the same amout of weight and have therefore the same amout of pressure on your shoulder joints

  • @Schmendlow
    @Schmendlow11 жыл бұрын

    last but not least I want to mention that the strain on your shoulders stays the same and does NOT increase, as it is preached by many internet gurus including maxpf, it might feel that way but the only thing you actually feel is the increased amout of muscular effort you have to put into every rep; the strain on your joints stays the same (here a nice paradigm: if you're standing on a big scale, feet spread apart as much as possible, you still wont get any heavier than you are)

    Take a weight, same weight. Hold it down at your side. Now take that weight and hold it straight out at your side. Same weight, different strain, dumbass.

    I understand why Marcus is doing the bench in that way, more your hands are closer to each other more tricep is use, more a part is more chest.

    Well, that's what I'm talking about. I'm actually comparing Markus to Jay & Ronnie. My friends actually did the same thing & they all thought that Markus looks better. Of course we're NOT judges, but "what was so wrong with his physique?" is my question to the judges.

    generally speaking that´s true...but having them THAT far apart is at least let´s say unique...it puts tremendous strain on your shoulders....apart from that, that´s probably just some "special" variation for him and not his "normal" bench press

    Why is there no sound in Nasser's footage?

  • @Schmendlow
    @Schmendlow11 жыл бұрын

    it doesnt exactely work that way, if your hands are more apart, you are simply using less of your ROM, that counts for both, tricep & chest, so none of those are relatively more activated (the reason why close grip bench press focuses relatively more on tricep lies in the exclusion of the adducent function of the chest) there still may be different reasons for why markus is benching that way

    To me, I always thought that Markus Ruhl looked the biggest and the baddest out of them all. I've showed my friends some bodybuilding dvds in the past and they all agree that Markus looked the biggest and the baddest. I'm not sure why he never won the Olympia. I know that they judge you by proportion, symmetry, definition, mass, etc., but I always that that Markus looked complete. Can anyone with experience tell me why he never won???
