A bit of a PSA today. Even at $3k it is still not 'cheap' but is clearly MUCH better value than at $4890! Why? Not sure. A bit plain? Not a Black Bay? It doesn't bother me, I can see myself adding one of these at some point, but not this point! Cheers, Jody

the rolex is a best buy for me. I own a Daytona that I bought in Iran back in 1998. It's still in perfect running condition, and I remember the excitement of purchasing it like it was yesterday. Now, I'm curious to see how much it's worth today, so I'm planning to do a little research. It's amazing to think how the value of these timeless pieces can appreciate over the years.

I got a Ranger earlier this year and absolutely love it. I wanted one expensive watch in my collection and I decided on the Tudor. The one thing I’d change though is to make the luminous markers a bit thicker. They look printed and thin. I got a San Martin Black Bay Pro homage to see if I liked that better and I have to admit I do. There’s so much more going on. The Tudor BB Pro is too thick though. I’m hoping they’ll bring a thinner version out in the future. The lume on the Ranger could be better too. It’s a bit disappointing when the San Martin I got in the sale for £116 is so much better than my Ranger at £2600

Earlier this year I wanted a watch I could wear every day. I had a hard time deciding between the Ranger, the BB 58 and the Longines Spirit. While the other two are beautiful, there was something about the Ranger's unassuming appearance that made me get it in the end. It was almost as if the other two were trying too hard to be flashy (though I have to admit the BB 925 is one I still think about). If you prefer a more subdued watch, I'd recommend the Ranger. When it comes to build quality, it felt as solid as the Black Bay, and I'd say it's one of those that will go well with many different straps if you want to give it some more character.

I LOVE the Ranger. IMHO, it’s truly an everyday tool watch. With my aging eyes, I’ve grown to appreciate a larger face in place of a dive bezel that I’ll actually never use. It will definitely be my next “large$” watch purchase.

Question please. As a still fairly recent Aussie import from the great white north … what watch resellers do you recommend for pre-owned watches here down under? I’m on the west coast, but travel within the country a little, so any location with Australia is fine, but what online retailers do you usually look at for deals? Thank you! Fil

Bought the Ranger brand new when it came out. Absolutely underrated and has been my daily beater for 2 years straight. Enjoy it more than my Rolex watches. PS - 2 years of very hard use and it’s still -1 sec per day, without fail. Perfection.

The silver flat tip on the minute hand “disappears” depending on the angle. It would look better if the lume went to the tip, or it was otherwise made to be always visible. Minor annoyances tho. Good watch otherwise. Very nice.

I've seen the Ranger for under $3,000 USD on eBay. I like it, but the Tudor I've been aiming for is the blue ETA BB36. That's as much as I'd want to spend on a watch outside of winning the lottery and getting a new Aqua Terra!

You need to get your hands on Tudor Prince Date 74000N, the one with numbers on the dial and Ranger arrow hands. It's got it all - the bling, the field vibe, bit of a vintage charm but also the super cool looks that the Ranger lacks.

I've been in to the local Tudor shop, only one that interests me is the BB Chrono. And the Royal. With a brown dial. But maybe I'm an outlier. Seriously though, if I were looking for a luxury watch I can just walk into a shop and buy, I'd be getting a Grand Seiko. I'm definitely an outlier....

I’ve always liked the Ranger. I’m still considering one (a San Martin or Proxima version 😬). I think this watch was the victim of the KZread heard mentality. And yes I spelled that correctly. One KZreadr “heard” another one dismissing it and so on and so forth. Oh well. Maybe it will come down in price some more, and I will actually buy the real deal versus a Homage. Thanks as always. You sound a LOT better. Glad you’re feeling better.

Agreed... it's why the Rolex 1016 Explorer works so well... 36mm, 20mm lug width... very well proportioned. Tudor Ranger was made big to be contemporary but its lost something in the proportions which in turn throws the visual design aesthetics out of whack.

I bought the Ranger on release and subsequently returned it to the AD after the weekend for a full refund. The bracelet and clasp was sharp and felt unfinished. The dial felt like a cop out too, for the 39mm size, it could have done with 2 lines of text at least at the bottom to fill the void at 6. Ideally it should have been 36/37mm. I think another issue was Tudor themselves over hyped it so much.

My niggles are that they should have made all the lume out of the molded lume from the Black Bay Pro. It would have been nice to have the more svelte case or the revised Black Bay non-diver line too. I wouldn’t mind a polished bezel or if it were made of titanium. As it stands, I feel like my Monta Triumph is a better watch to own.

I like the Ranger. I love the Explorer. I used to think if I were to buy another watch over $2,000 USD, it would be the Explorer but that ship has sailed. If I were to buy a $2,000+ watch, 80% chance it would be a BB58, 20% chance it would be the 38mm Aqua Terra. I think the biggest thing that would sway me towards the 58 (or 54) over the Ranger is the Ranger is just too plain. No aplied indices. No intoxicating hands that play with the light. I'm just spoiled by all the homage watches that tick all the right boxes except the name on the dial.

Pictures and video do nothing for the watch. I purchased a used Longines Spirit Titaniumn 40mm for 2K US all in and that was the end of my search for a used Ranger. The Spirit Titaniumn 40mm is a gorgeous watch. I would say on par with the Ranger. If the Ranger was a Titaniumn watch it would kill it IMO
