The funniest detail about this movie is that Charlie Sheen said in an interview that he was banging 7 gram rocks during production. So all the weird motion capture bits were actually him coked up lol.

I actually remember finding out about this movie when I was in a broadcasting class in college back in 2010. We were doing a project where we had to pitch a variety show, and I wanted to pitch one centered around Wayne Brady. I looked up his filmography, saw Foodfight, got curious, read a little bit, then went back to writing my pitch. Imagine my surprise when it actually popped up and became an Internet phenomenon a few years later.

This movie should have a REMAKE, I honestly respect Lawrence kasanoffs idea for foodfight. I think this movie has a lot of Potential for a really interesting, unique, funny and original movie! Plus you know what would make this movie to be the most complex looking animated movie? Is that they would make each mascot have different animation style and art style where some would have a painterly look to them seen in some real life supermarket mascots, some will be stop-motion animated like the California raisins, some will even be hand-drawn animated! Such as toucan Sam from froot-loops. Oh this can be a really good way of appreciating animation in general!

I actually checked the Lost Media Wiki page, and apparently they made an update regarding the lost version, and I quote: “The early version of the film seemed to be a lot different from the original and was slated for a Christmas 2003 release. However, the original files were deleted by the film's creator, and production was stuck in development hell for a decade.” That basically means that we may never see this passable original version again unless a miracle happens, but I highly doubt that.

Here's my ideas on how to make "Foodfight!" a DECENT movie, The Story: It's a hilarious, suspenseful, drama story about Dex Dogtective. Dex solves cases and stop the baddies for The USDA (United Supermarket Defense Accusation) when Marketropolis market closes down at night. One night, his girlfriend bride-to-be Sunshine Goodness mysteriously disappears while trying to help Daredevil Dan. Six months later... Dex gives up his detective business not knowing what will happen next for the supermarket. Then, Brand X comes to the store to kidnap all the icons and kill them one by one to be the most supreme icons of the WORLD!!! Now, It's up to Dex, his best friend Dan and all the world's most beloved brands to take down Brand X to save the supermarket and all icons everywhere! The Animation: The movie will combine 2D animation for the icons when the supermarket becomes the bustling city of Marketropolis and it will combine Live-Action for the market when it's not closed down during the day time and for the humans. Just like Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Space Jam. The backgrounds will look detailed with a lot of features so the backgrounds don't look unfinished or blurry. The Characters: This movie has a whole bunch of characters that can be unforgettable or you love. Dex Dogtective is a keen, sharp and calm detective that saves the supermarket from any danger and helps his friends incase if they are in trouble. When Sunshine disappear, He forms into a retired cold detective who onws a nightclub called The Copabanana. But, Brand X appears to kill all his friends, Dex learns to believe in himself and to become his old self again to help his friends and to find who take his Sunshine away from his heart that his broken. Sunshine Goodness is a bubbly, eager, and compassionate cat who onws a cereal brand like Dex. But when she disappears, Dex must stop Brand X to find his love again. Daredevil Dan is a easygoing, well-meaning but wacky chocolate squirrel who is Dex's sidekick and the movie's comic relief. He invents all kinds of contraptions and inventions to help his icon friends. He rides a biplane and has a crush on Sweetcakes which is his girlfriend that he feels happy when he is around her. Lady X is the main bad boss of Brand X and the movie's antagonist. She is a flamboyant, ordely and evil icon that wants to exterminate all icons to be the greatest and most powerful icon in the world. Her army tries to lure icons to trick them to go on her army, but the undesirables will be killed and sent to the expiration station. Dr. Si Nustrix is a scientist and doctor who whipp up antidotes, medicine, and cures to help all icons in need. He is also not a Jewish stereotype. Cheasel T. Weasel is a sleazy con-artist that have a item that a icon need but it's for a price. He also tells all the information the icons need. He dosen't look like he came from the sewer and also dosen't look like poop to freak you out. He will look cheesy with a yellow texture. There's a running gag with the lovable Polar Penguin where he tries to find a cold place because he is a penguin. The Brand X army are NOT Nazis but they are military soldiers that do their bidding. The characters are NOT racist stereotypes or speak like racist stereotypes. There are NO sexual innuendos so kids and adults can be comfortable with this movie. Continuity/Plot Holes: Icons can go to the real world if they find a secret opening of their product whuch transport them into the real world. Humans can never go into the supermarket world but Lady X make a robot replica of her creator Mr. Clipboard to trick the icons. In the scene with Dex, Dan and the lunch lady, they didn't get caught by the humans because the humans think they are toys or bugs. The soda bottle Dex flyes on was flying because it was attached to a string like in the original trailer. Sunshine didn't get recalled because Brand X motive was to kidnap Sunshine and to make a label that says recalled but it actually says kidnapped to lure Dex so they can kill both of them so they can recall them. If a icon gets killed by Brand X, they disappear from the store till they get restocked again with they get revived. A icon like Lady X changed her form because her creator intend a Brand X icon instead of a prune icon so they made the prune design but changed the icon to Lady X. In the scene with Dex and Dan in the dryer, the Brand X building secretly has a giant dryer that has a hologram and fire they put in there. The movie will have talented people who know what they do to make a good film. LAWRENCE KASANOFF is not invited for turning Foodfight! Into one of the worst animated films ever made. Do you think these are good ideas to make "Foodfight!" A decent film for the world. Feel free to leave your thoughts. :)

No doubt. The movie wasn't stolen. I theorize they didn't even HAVE finished animation outside of the trailer/proof of concept, and needed some excuse to get to a cheaper studio to do all the heavy lifting. They knew they had a stinker on their hands, they knew there was no way this was going to be in the same universe as successful, they were just trying to stall for time until the money was gone and they'd make their money back in whoever was going to wind up buying what they had cheap. I only feel terrible for the wasted cast. Christopher freaking Lloyd, Larry Miller, Wayne Brady... everyone was wasted on a terrible script. And seriously. Christopher "Doc Brown, The Hacker, Judge Doom, Reverend Jim" Lloyd! he can make just about ANYTHING awesome. Just not this piece of crap.

It was filmed in 2003, though was apparently poorly made. I can't find any full episodes online. The second is a made-for-tv DnD moral panic film aired in 1992 called "Honor Thy Mother", which I can only find clips and summaries of online, not the whole film. The other story was for Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly, a game that is infamous for many reasons. However, given all the detail we've found out about the production, it's no wonder how we ended up with what we got. If you don't know the full story on the game, I'd try to find the KZread documentary on it. It's quite interesting. If only we had that level of detail on this project... I really suspect that the theft was a publicity stunt. This movie sounds like a train wreck, and the company was probably trying to either get out or to pump the hype machine even more (not sure which). This isn't a Rapsittie Street Kids situation, where the movie feels like it was the result of a guilty plea deal. While I doubt this would have been as big as the creator was making it out to be, there really isn't a reason why it shouldn't have been at least fairly successful. Either something went wrong, or the whole thing was a stunt.

Here is something I doubt ANYONE can find: a short animated film shown on cable T.V. in the early 1980's. It was about a small child who is afraid of the dark and his mother tells him theres nothing to fear but when its bedtime and the lights are shut out, a weird slime creature menaces him through the window. It then melts and becomes ropes that restrain the child to the bed. The ceiling lamp becomes an eye that then becomes a swinging pendulum. Eventually daylight comes and the boy rises from bed, relieved. He then opens his bedroom door and falls into oblivion. The memory of this cartoon has haunted me my whole life...

If I'm being honest, the story is very saddening. Given how ambitious the visualization for it was and the use of squash in stretch in a time 3D animation was still somewhat dead set on trying to look realistic, this felt like it would have been another "Disney aren't the only ones who can do things" piece in history and would have gladly rooted for these guys. But hey, if someone managed to get a an original December built of Dinosaur planet and released into the world, maybe a releases of the original food fight is possible

Even if Disney/Dreamworks were unethical enough to try to sabatoge other studios they wouldn’t bother with this small studio that is barely a threat to them

For me, there’s countless videos I’d watch on this site that have become lost overtime. But here are a couple examples of KZread lost media I could think about. Which the first one is a British KZreadr named Trap Lore Ross. Back sometime in early April 2018, he’d made a video titled “Is Ready Player One garbage” under his other channel Ross Hacks which I now believe. The video was of himself in his room explaining of why this movie was really terrible and ended it with saying “VR has a long way to go.” And when the video was uploaded it would’ve been about a week so a little after the movie had came out. I’d watched the video after I saw the movie in the theater and was already in Junior year of high school by that point. But the video was taken down in either July or August of 2018. Then his channel and Twitter account was deleted in early 2019 likely in late January after checking it out before New Years Eve since there was more videos he uploaded, in early February I decided to go back and check on his channel until noticing that it disappeared. Though, there were more videos on his channel like a video on how Call Me by Your Name is overrated, some sort of Spider-Man video and a Netflix comedic routine skit where I thought it would be last one until a few months later and already in Senior year as he’d uploaded a new video but one time to his channel to check that was suddenly gone quickly. web.archive.org/web/20190104024155/kzread.info/dron/nH8al10BzxCg-N-69Syqjg.html Another, was an image slideshow tribute video from either April or May of 2008 titled Lost Liners or Lost Ships. This one is a little bit more harder to know because I was then 7 when I’d already discovered KZread sometime in late January and it was uploaded by channel which I don’t even know the name of but likely no longer exists now. The video showed pictures of many ocean liners that were lost at sea notably pictures of the Titanic, Lusitania, Andrea Doria and Normandie. And I would watch this back in 2008-2012 until the video was taken down It sometime in either 2013 or 2014 and had very beautiful music from a movie that I happen to catch my dad watching on either Encore or Starz (before it become Starz Encore) around March 2012 which was about a few years later at 11. The thumbnail for the video was a painting done by Ken Marschall of the Titanic with it’s stern rising higher as its sinking while people on Lifeboat No.2 watch but in low res. titanicofficers.com/images/Marschall_Boxhall.jpg

A lost media topic that I haven't heard very many people talk about is the original airings of the first couple seasons of The Simpsons. The showrunners, or whoever was in charge would continue working on the episodes after they originally aired and would add or remove scenes sometimes. I know this firsthand because I grew up with VHS recordings of the episodes from when they first aired. Unfortunately I lost the cassettes for the first two seasons. It's been so long that I would really have to Rack my brain to remember any of the changes but one that I definitely remember is that in the episode "Bart's dog gets an F" the scene where Martin Prince asks how he can tell if he's using the choke collar correctly and the lady says that "the dogs eyes cross" wasn't in the first version of the episode. It cuts right from her yanking on the collar and Santa's L helper falling on the ground, to Bart asking if his dog is dead I still have the cassette for season 3 so I could potentially go through it and look for changes, but I don't particularly like those episodes and don't know them as well, ans that would take like 20 hours to watch two versions of every episode and God that sounds like a pain in the ass XD

The original treatment for the movie that I read in 1998 was fantastic - but very little of the material made it into the final product. I, too, believe that the drives weren't stolen. Threshold just massively overestimated their capabilities.

@@PedroAlves-qj8fb Well, I was working for a major network in Germany and Threshold was looking for some financing. I visited their Santa Monica studios a couple of time (they were shooting the MORTAL KOMBAT TV series at the time - I have the pics to prove it). Among the several scrips that I read and evaluated for co production were FOODFIGHT and BOGEYS, both written by Brent Friedman and Rebecca Swanson. To give you an idea how different the original vision was, here is a line from my reader's report: "In a big supermarket, the food comes to life at night: all the brand name characters party through the aisles: Tony the tiger, Dr. Scholl, the Chiquita banana lady, etc.". It had all the characters that they wanted to license (for product placement), and they used them in hilarious ways. Friedman & Swanson were a great writing team (and yes, I also met with Brent a few times). I have a lot of scripts on my hard drive, but this goes back to 1998, the good old age of printed scripts. I fear it's lost.

@@torstend Was that really so? Interesting to hear there was actually a point to the real life brand mascots on the movie. Think this point got kind of lost when the production started to introduce its own characters. You think you can tell me some more precise details of what you remember about this version? Sounds really interesting, specially because I've never heard anything about this one before, only about the closer to the final version (the one planned to 2003 ).

The theft of the hard drives very well could have been Pixar. They weren’t doing so well with the Disney contract at the time and Food Fight was basically stealing a major concept of Toy Story. With all the buzz the film was getting and all of its brand deals, perhaps a lone wolf at Pixar decided enough was enough
