I enjoyed the book very much and would like to draw Marina Wheelers attention to another memoir A time of Madness by Salman Rashid and to another book Partition of India, Legend and Reality by HM Servai. Ironically the former book is published in India and not available in Pakistan and the latter published in Pakistan and not available in India

History should never be left to women, they interpret everything through modern sensibilities and rose tinted glasses. We must view history as it is without the political or religious biases so that those who got short end of the bargain can stop history repeating itself. These literary festivals are one big scam to whitewash true history bz it's uncomfortable and these princesses can't believe humans can commit such atrocities on fellow humans.
