I have a spiraling Epiphyllum (curly kai, curly sue, curly lock whatever) that set fruit without pollination. It taste really sweet like a megalanthus and a taste more comolex that just rose water. It does taste a little floral but not in a bad sense. It's better than most dragon fruit I can find in Europe and I have tried every available variety. I also know that old plants get packed with fruits. Mine gave me two this year while my dragon fruit never bloomed.

@@RAREDRAGONFRUIT i used it's pollen to pollinate... A Notocactus, and the fruit is packed with seeds even if i suspect they are produced by gynogenesis. So maybe it's a good pollen donor

I have a fishbone aka zigzag plant that looks similar. Waiting for it to grow flowers some day to cross pollinate. Nice video of epiphyllums

Paul is this self sterile or self fertile ?

  • @StalkerNaturaliste

I think it's self sterile, if it was selffertile it would have been packed with seeds.

I belive SS. I cross pollenate everything. Many "self fertile" varieties make pretty small fruit compared to when pollenated.

Lol, I try not to name them unless they pass the taste and un rooted growth tests. I did name a seedling that is G-3 crossed with PG because it stabbed me mant times and has a long, single spine haha. I call it hypodermic
