The unexpected, those moments that leave you speechless... and that you will carry with you forever. That's motorcycling.
The Lost Coast Highway is among my top 3 motorcycle roads in the west coast area. I rode it some 18 years ago and your videos brought the memories come flooding back. It's every bit as good as your excitement conveys.
That was so awesome Sterling....felt like I was along for the ride Always feel relaxed after watching your films Thanks again, Mark
Ya Hoo! My Tiger 800 got a feature shot on the channel! Great to meet you while overlapping a night on the Lost Coast. Great video

Thanks!!! that’s cool you were out there too!
Sterling...your filming and production is incredible! I almost forgot how beautiful and mystical the north coast is. You captured it perfectly. We used to abalone dive down at Mendocino. Thank you so much.
The Lost Coast Century is a 100-mile bike ride in California. It's also called the Tour of the Unknown Coast. The route includes beautiful scenery, but also has sections of bad pavement, steep climbs, and twisty descents. The Lost Coast is a mostly natural and undeveloped area of the California North Coast in Humboldt and Mendocino Counties. It was named the "Lost Coast" after the area experienced depopulation in the 1930s. When the Pacific Coast Highway was being built, engineers chose to go around this 100-mile section of coast.
Sterling, I'm convinced that northern California offers some of the best motorcycle roads in the world, certainly in the US. When I lived in The Bay Area I frequently took day rides along the costal range avoiding US101 and I-5 like the plague. CA36 between Red Bluff and US101 ranks as my all time favorite road on a bike.
It was Clement Salvadori's articles on the Forgotten Coast that got me hooked on this place. What vistas...
I camped at Needles few years back, rode my Africa Twin up USAL Rd. which was tricky in a few spots with a full load. We had elk visit our campsite. Beautiful spot. Need to get back. Great video
Nice to see some old stomping grounds. I graduated from HSU in 1989. You're having a great adventure. I'm enjoying following along.
My favorite part of this video starts @12:15. I've always loved cinematic shots of life paired with chill electronic music and guitar.
Thank you Sterling I did it twice my first time too. I have returned there for more than five years and camped in Fortuna.
Just rode the Mottole Rd and Kings Peak Road today on my Tiger 1200. Great day on the Lost Coast. Lots of dirt, even on the paved roads 😉
I love your extemporaneous Road Less Traveled motorcycle adventures. The riding in this episode was exactly what I enjoy. I'm too old for technical off road riding but not too old for some back road motorcycle adventures. Thank you for sharing. It's very motivational.
Lost Coast hwy, on of the best kept secrets of California coast. One of my favorite rides and tons of history too. Black Swan Odysseys
All about the roads less traveled. Fabulous
I did the same thing my first time on Mattole! Turned around and did that "reveal" again =D 2021, on my way back from MOA Rally in Montana. I had started the day in Medford, got to Ferndale early afternoon. Low overcast, a little damp. As I climbed up and out of town, it got really dark and foggy in spots, but the cloud layer turned out to be thin and I soon found myself with clear blue skies and the hill tops above the clouds. The cloud layer ended completely by the time I came around that bend. Had to pull over (not easy...it's steep!) to absorb it. Breathtaking view. That short run along Black Sand Beach...damn... I stayed on Mattole Road past Honeydew and camped at Albee. Went through there again in 2022 with a group, and decided I needed to spend a week in the area. Didnt happen in 23, but planning an extended return in June this year. Cant wait.

I grew on the north coast and traveled those roads and more many many times. So beautiful, I still ride that area from time to time with my coastal friends. Thanks for the video.

California, where have all the grown ups gone? I will say it's nice to see the young folk learning the value of a dollar. Another great video, your campsite finding abilities are top notch.
