In Havana, Cuba in the late 1950's, a wealthy family, one of whose sons is a prominent nightclub owner, is caught in the violent transition from the oppressive regime of Batista to the Marxist government of Fidel Castro. Castro's regime ultimately leads the nightclub owner to flee to New York.

Amazing film about true history of a humble country. The people of Cuba always hardworking and friendly. Cuba: a paradise on Earth. Just like the whole Earth is a paradise. Cuba is a pearl and a jewel in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. A struggle that started almost 60 years ago. A struggle that will come to an end very very soon. Love, Peace, Unity, Happiness, Understanding, Freedom and Justice will prevail all over the EARTH...

6 years on and cubans are still fleeing the island for a better life elsewhere
My Dad, a Cuban that fled Cuba in the 90s watches this movie and breaks down at the end when "cuba linda" plays
It's time for this movie to be put back in the spotlight. God save Cuba!
It is one of my favorite movies. The Lost City received unfavorable reviews by the Hollywood crowd because it is a film that does not glorify Guevara or Castro's revolution. Instead, it tells the true story of what really happened in Havana during the closing years of the 50's decade. It demonstrates the reason for our diaspora and the reasons why so many families were split apart so long ago. If you were born in Cuba and remember...you will see your parents and grandparents in every character. If you were born in exile, you will get a glimpse of what the old guard went through and the reason you were born abroad. If you were born in Cuba after the revolution, you will learn what the current Cuban government does not want you to know. Any Cuban who watches it cannot help but be moved deeply by this film. It is a true labor of love by Andy Garcia. God bless him.

@@riskythought You are obviously a communist, since your rude reply to my post is typical of communism's indoctrinated lemmings. Have a wonderful day.

Interessante
Should be required viewing for all kids in HS, imo.
Du hast mich vom ersten Film an umgehauen! Ich freue mich riesig auf Dich!

Andy García con una historia que solo cuenta él, sinceramente no he visto la película completa, pero me han dicho que debe agradar mucho al Club Bilderberg y la casa Blanca.

I studied in Cuba between 2005-2011. I now like in the UK but I've still got the movie on my hard drive. Since it is not anywhere on KZread, I might have to upload it one of these days.
Refreshing to see a film that DOESN'T glorify Che Guevara for once

Surrealist Gal really? Why? Because Communists are portrayed as evil and bull? Is that what bothers you?

James Matthews its a lie to what history really represented, he wasn't "good" to the country, he was a disease en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulgencio_Batista

David Vega listen kid I never said Batista was a good president. He was a dictator too. But he wasn't the monster Fidel was. And he didn't send Cuba into the economic dumpster by making it Communist.

James Matthews it seems you don't realize cuba has blocked it's imports and exports by the US for over 50 years

David Vega why should trade with a Communist country who enslaves its people and uses a horrible economic system. As well as trade with the US enemies like the Soviet Union. Hello? Why we would do business with Castro. And despite this Cuba still depends on America's dollar. Even though they're constantly bad mouthing us. Do you even know anything about what happens in Cuba? Do you know that Cubans aren't allowed in Cuba's best hotels, tourist attractions, and stores. Its illegal for them to do so. Only tourists can. Do you even pay attention to what is happening in Venezuela? Where people are fleeing by the thousands daily because they're starving to death. A country rich in oil and other resources. Im Cuban I know. How can you defend Communism, Socialism? Look I'm not gonna insult you cause I know you're just a kid still. From day one you've been indoctrinated by the far left. You're probably still being indoctrinated by a Marxist professor or professors. So it's not your fault. But now that you're starting to become an adult you need to really educate yourself on these matters. From both sides of the political aisle. Right now you're enamored with radical leftist politics. You think they're cool. Rebellious and edgy and all that. You probably rock the red Che Guevera shirt. But once you really educate on these matters you might not feel that way.
Garcia is a Gusano.
This movie absolutely sucked. Andy Garcia blows. Viva Che, Viva Fidel!!!
