This is the most tense and entertaining Smash set I've seen in months. AND IT WAS WITH SONIC.

Sonix didn't delete his twitter... And then later he called Chase and said that he would play Palu in EU majors, so Chase decided he'd do an all-nighter and watch the tourney... Only for him to watch 5 hours of no Palu and Sonix to say he forgot.

If Palu isn't braindead then I'm fucking galaxy brain.

To be fair, Palutena is not even THAT easy. Yes, she has really good fast aerials, but if you don't know how to edgeguard properly, or have a good ground game (that is, YOU playing) you're pretty much not carried. Sonic on the other hand is a lot more straighforward on what he does

people saying that deactivating your twitter isn't a punishment are wild. these are top players, and so much of their promotion comes from twitter. that means you can't push content (possibly the biggest moneymaker), and orgs can't find you. Twitter largely sucks, but these guys kinda need it.

In the last week chase has promoted KZread videos, streams, and interacted with an org that are actively looking for more players. Sonix got >350 likes on his post promoting his new video. It absolutely matters and can be a pretty big deal. I didn’t even know that sonix made content until that post, same with Chag, Chase, MuteAce, and others.

The bet started around which character a new player should pick up if their goal is to win and they're willing to do it with any character. Chase encouraged him to pick up Sonic and Sonix took offense to Chase saying Sonic was one of the easiest paths to get better placements. To prove that they both agreed to a reverse mains match, and so Chase (according to their agreement) proved Sonic is easy. So why should Chase pick up Sonic? He was showing what's the easier character to a player looking for a new main so they can get better results. And ultimately Chase probably wants to play a more fundamentals based character in the process of getting better, which is Palu

Chase is just a hater. Sonic may have broken properties to him but it's not like sonic or sonix is dominating the meta. He just lost tournaments to tweek and zomba. No character is truly "braindead" in my opinion. Even with broken characters you still have to use fundamentals and strategy. If sonic was braindead, how come ken and wrath aren't beating everybody? Chase is just jealous because he has yet to win any majors and is basically irrelevant compared to sonix. To be honest I really don't think Sonix's deserves this kind of hate. I feel like during covid sonics did deserve the hate because he was basically a nobody who beat the top of the best players in the world. But it was just because all the tournaments were online in Sonic is broken online. Which is basically the only thing that chase proved during this match, Sonic is broken online. Also I really just think this is Sonix's fault because he's not good at reverse mains. He should have just told Chase 'if Sonic is so easy then why don't you win a major with him?' instead of acting emotionally and challenging him to a match. Chase didn't really prove anything only that he's better at Sonic than Sonix is better at palu. And it's not like Paulo doesn't have broken nair combos. Idk in my opinion Chase can talk all the shit he wants but at the end of the day he's still not winning tournaments and because of that he's always just going to seem like a hater to me for this. And before you people say 'oh Jace isn't winning because his character is too honest'. Zachary just beat miya with pit so shut up. Chase just can't win tournaments with his character.

Everyone is getting on their soap boxes and proclaiming that deleting your Twitter is a reward. It's not about getting off of Twitter, it's about being forced to do so after losing a bet.

I think this is a perfect way to put it. People like to keep saying Sonic is easy, but he has a lot of advanced movement tech like Spinshot and such. Granted, Spinshot isn’t exactly the hardest thing to learn (I have a Sonic secondary, learned to do it almost every time in practically less than half an hour) but I feel like people don’t give Sonix, acola, or Miya enough credit when their characters aren’t as easy as people say they are. Cloud is easy, Aegis is easy, Corrin is easy. Sparg0’s carried too, you know. EVERYONE is. EVERY character and EVERY player is in some way carried. Acola is carried, Sparg0 is carried, Sonix is carried, Miya is carried, MkLeo, Glutonny, Yoshidora, Riddles, Zomba, the list goes on and on and on and on. They’re carried, I’m carried, and you are too.

A character being easy to pick up or win with doesn't discredit somebody's accomplishments. I do think that some characters are boring to watch like sonic in the ways it is often played competitively.

@@Valentinesdayghost There are levels to being carried, and that's what people refer to. Of course, everyone is carried. The switch they play on "carries" them. The controller "carries" them. The fact they have two hands "carry" them. But that is a useless and content-free statement. Sonic is easy. He is easier than a large majority of the characters. It's okay for a character to be easy. Smash Ultimate isn't a perfectly designed game. Sure, Sonix is an obviously world class player, and I commend him for that, but to say sonic hasn't been essential into getting him where he's at is just... The fact that you included MkLeo on the list is a little silly seeing as he could've (at least for a while) won a tournament with literally any viable character he set his mind to. Also, your second comment where you say "Also, if the character is easy, why you losing to them?" is also silly and I bet you know why. Like there is no reading of that comment that makes any sense. this is the definition of easy character; you lose to them even if you are better. I also don't enjoy people discrediting and yelling at literal children about videogames because "their character is easy". I think it's stupid to say those things. But don't lump the baby with the bath water. The game has easier characters, and its like... okay to say that. Like Meta Knight is a hard character (dare I say much much harder than Steve, GnW, or Sonic), but to say that any Meta Knight player is not super duper omega carried (in Brawl) beyond any other character is being a little too diplomatic. Sonic has run away tools that invalidate such a large majority of the cast and to do that, the sonic player has to put in very little effort. In Melee, if a jigglypuff, in previous rulesets, wanted to disengage with the match the entire time, she could've, and so can Steve and Sonic (see Acola vs Tweek). Jigglypuff was easy, and that's okay to call out, and it ended up being a positive change in the community (disregarding the large amounts of hate HBOX got which I am not condoning).

I don't think sonic is easy, but not hard too. I genuinely think that are like 3 characters that are hard out of 80+ characters. About sonic I think is easy to learn and hard to master. Because his moveset is so good but just for that reason is easyer to get bad habits or being monke brain and just spam spindash. And in mid low level this isn't a problem. In top level you can't be brain dead and spam things. And yes, this is not just for Sonic but for every character of the game, once you learn, if you want to be the top you have to beat your inner demons.
