He's done it more times this season and the opposing team has yet to make a three pointer when contested this way. It's especially effective for corner three because all you can aim for is the rim and him on the way all you see is his hands. This is like making fun of someone shooting free throws "granny style", if it works, why care about it?

I've seen Kawhi doing something similar in his first game and I was expecting it to be on shaqtin, but it looks like it is a legit move now. If you want to look it up it happens right when he enters the game (LAL-LAC), so it is his first move after the injury.

@@loooserider1003 Oh wow that actually makes sense! While we were all laughing I could see this actually being a pattern if it's effective enough. This reminds me of when a foul is called or teams call a timeout and a player attempts to shoot a shot the opposing team players will swat the ball from the basket or catch it to prevent the ball from going in and messing with the players psych. For some players just the sight of seeing the ball go in can boost their confidence and get them going.

He's actually blocking the view (ring) of the shooter. They might tried it in practice and was effective, it's just nobody wants to try it in game because it looks goofy af.

Now we know Kornet's "eclipse" move at 1:12 is legit, causing shooters to miss open shots 75% of the time. Blocking their view of the basket while protecting against a pass into the paint is actually quite ingenious. The crew owes him an apology.

Agreed! That's a smart defensive play. It is upto the other 4 players to box out their opponents and grab the rebound. Horford did his job in those 2 plays, Tatum and Brown failed to box out.
