Alastor giving Charlie his mic is GENUINELY a crazy trusting move considering he's an overlord that could be attacked at any time by anyone and he's not one to just trust anyone with his stuff, it's why he has no underlings and the things he does control he rules with absolute dominance. It was a show of genuine good will and faith in Charlie.

Back then, she also said that it was an intangible object to everyone else that, theoretically, if it was separated from him, he wouldn't be able to speak without. This is obviously no longer canon, since Charlie holds it, Adam breaks it, and Al can talk without it. I don't think it's a physical part of him anymore.

It's clearly an extension of his power in some form seeing as he is dramatically weakened when adam destroys it, it makes sense for it to be a part of him that he projects his power through, like Pentious's hat. If the hat were a seperate entity from pentious and not part of him, it doesn't make sense for it to be in heaven with him, similarly if the mic is just an object or a seperate entity it doesn't make sense for Alastor to behave as if injured/weakened after fighting adam when the mic was the only thing damaged.

@@lulolieUm it wasn’t only the mic. Adam first breaks the mic, and while Alastor is distracted because he’s shocked Adam was able to break it so easily, Adam hits him in the stomach with his axe, which is when he goes flying. That’s what Alastor was injured from. You can see the blood on his stomach and hand and dripping off of Adam’s axe. Then a bit of blood still dripping from his stomach in the finale song.

@@woodie3030I think the item just holds a part of him, so the thing is soul-bound and likely only works when he allows it. In this case, he’s willing letting Charlie use it for its most obvious use. Though, I’m sure the item is primarily used to amplify/focus his power or something. When the staff broke, Al said (sung) that he nearly died for wanting to take Charlie’s side. He was shocked he put himself at such a risk, and that the Injury was much worse than it looked, implying that the staff breaking did significant damage to him.

In episode 5, when Alastor is over 10 times his normal size, his cane stays the same size, and he still holds it.

Alastor handing his mic over and not having his giant grin to me shows he does actually care for Charlie. Most people point out to look over at his eye to see his true emotions, but his eyes has that relaxed smile look, meaning he truly is smiling outside of his smile curse thing he has. Which to me disproves the alastor wanting to take over hell theory, and more so just him wanting to stay in power rather than control hell

I mean he literally says "Guess who will be pulling all the strings?" Him wanting to take over hell is canon, it doesn't mean he wouldn't care for them. It's like what he said in the pilot, he wants to be entertained, and like he said to Nifty at the finale, he's starting to get accustomed. He probably views the idea of running hell as turning it into his own reality entertainment; more like he's grabbing hold of the script of a show he's in than starting a dictatorship. He's likely getting attached to Charlie and the others the way the audience is attached to them, viewing them as his favorite characters to watch.

Alastor used to be a radio host as his job when he was still a human though. Alastor's obsession is pretty much watching people suffer since he's also a serial killing when he was still a human (if my memory is correct his death involves a hunter and dogs when he was attempting to bury a body)

Besides he is Alastor the man who likes to keep people guessing and actually does has a strict code that he follows unless they really offend him (sinners can't die unless you used angelic steel on them so at most Alastor will make them suffer or just send them flying like what he did to sir pentious but if a normal hellborne offends him well he either kills them painfully or simply eats them whole).

@@Mannavhan the signature items probably represents what their jobs or used to be Jobs are. For hellborne probably their current role for most of the time (not gonna count Charlie's trident though that's pretty much a normal weapon for her unlike Lucifer's cane which pretty much represents what he did in eden) For sinners yeah it's their job or the stuff they really like and their time period when they're alive most of the time. Like Alastor being a Radio host and he lived/died in the interwar period. Which also explains why he always uses older radios and why his voice filter is like that because that's the tech he's most familiar with and he hates anything newer.

I feel like his cane connects with his shadow, which is why his shadow looked so much more injured after the fight

i think it could represent any trust or appreciation he had for the hotel and the residents, and how it was broken as he realizes hes mortal, and hes going to be paranoid and making sure above all else that hes in control, so he doesnt have to face his mortalility again like he did with adam

I like to think his mic is his weak spot but it also help him control his power which is why he carries it but since he is so reliant on it if it breaks he can’t control his powers as well

If you listen, when his mic is destroyed he also loses his radio voice for just a moment. It really catches him off guard to lose it, so I doubt we’ll see him without it for long

The mic, although not sentient like in the pilot(we don’t hear it talk or move at all in the show), is an extension of himself. Since he’s so resistant to change he didn’t make any alterations to it for the battle which cost him the fight with Adam. If I hear another person say he was just weaker than Adam imma get a fucking aneurism. He could have finessed a win had he been properly prepared but that’s his major flaw. He lives in the past and didn’t want to make changes to himself and by extension the mic. This is an issue that’ll definitely come up in the second season when he eventually has to face Vox. Also the destruction of the mic was foreshadowed, but because of the terrible pacing of the show most people didn’t pick up on it.

The mic holds his radio like voice but now he doesnt have it so he sounds normal in his breakdown when he laughs and speaks

I don't think so, I think him not having his voice filter was more a way to convey how distressed he is to the audience, since he has his filter back when he rejoins the main cast for his "and we're doing it with a smile" line in the finale

In the finale we can see Alastor reaching for two parts of the cane. It does look like he really wanted to get them even tho immediate danger was right in front of him and then he puts both parts on the console? In his old radio studio. He was really hurt but rather than vanishing right away he made sure to grab both parts, his eyes seems frantic? as well. I believe his cane is going to be repaired or he will change it.

I love that you mention that he gives it to Charlie! That struck so hard with me!

It’s pretty interesting to me that it’s shown to talk, especially since this has never come again, showing that it doesn’t just have an eye design but is actually sentient and even capable of speech

I just noticed the light on his mic went out after it broke. I wonder if that's why his shadow disappeared for a sec too.

Don't forget how his voice changed to not have the radio in it when he lost it. It later retruend but it shows that when he's actually terrified he will lose his radio voice.

Also with Sir Pentious's hat, it appears that he can seemingly transfer its consciousness onto a different one, as shown during the finale in his general outfit

The mic is part of his very soul, creating a new one is nigh impossible unless he uses the destroyed parts which would either count as repairing or recycling.

He is carrying his mic towards his radio center, he will fix it

The staff is something that he manifests with his powers, like other inanimate objects he produces. It acts kinda like a wand in Harry Potter. Once it broke it cut out most of his powers mid battle. He can still do some things without it but for conjuring powerful abilities he needs the staff.

Alastor’s mic is part of his character design, he can’t not have it. If he doesn’t I’m setting up a memorial for it.

Character designs can change over time, especially in non episodic shows. Just look at Sir Pentious, mf had an enitre colour palette switch, while Lute lost an entire arm.

the character “props” were hinted to be “alive” by Angel dust in the pilot (hence why he pointed out the question of whether or not Pentious hat is a separate entity from him or not) its related very much to the character lore, whether or not the parts of them that have shown separate consiousness at times are in fact separate entities (like the idea that when you die in hell, i assume without angelic qeapons, you’re still conscious and in pain you just merge with hells infastructure/environment hence the eyes everywhere)

Also, the fact that it seems like Alastor's weak spot IS the cane and he gives it to Charlie meaning he could be attacked with no way of fighting back until Charlie gives it back is also sweet and shows how much he cares for her

Vivzie had once said that the eyes all over hell are from basically dead sinner energy. So i think the magical items are made up of the same energy. It could also just be a physical manifestation of their own energy, or maybe they just fed their energy into an already existing item.

I think it would be awesome if we got a b plot on a random episode down the line in which alastor's mic and some other character go on a little adventure together. It would be even betten if Edward Bosco (he voiced Alastor on the pilot) voiced the microphone in the full show
