I wish it was that way at least it would've made sense in-universe even if this take would be non-canon. Now am I supposed to believe Celebrimbor is gonna fall for Hallbrannnatar, for a second time? Now am I supposed to not question why the fuck is Annatar in Eregion when Celebrimbor ALREADY MADE THE GREATER RINGS OF POWER? "He did the Big three rings of elves, now he must do the lesser rings" YEAH I KNOW! If he did the most difficult part already because Sauron taught him about alloys why he needs the advice of Sauron to make shittier rings? It doesn't make any fucking sense. And Annatar will enter again to Eregion, deceive Celebrimbor, again, and make rings, again... without any fucking sense or logic! I sweat the writing of this show sucks ass. And it's been done by two yes-man hacks without the experience to make a show of this caliber.

@@Ricktellx Season 1 had a lot of problems with the pacing of Galadriel's storyline that affected the credibility of some events and characters. Galadriel herself often acted too immature, but apart from that her portrayal in the show fits very well to her description in the books. Now...have a look at the trailer again. We only see Charlie Vickers in scenes _after_ the destruction of Eregion. Look at it. The city of Ost-in-Edhil is destroyed, the Elves are fleeing in all directions and Celebrimbor is seriously injured (he lost a hand). This is not the time of Annatar, the generous Lord of Gifts, this is the time of Sauron the Conqueror. He does not need his Annatar shape anymore, and the Elves know that they have been betrayed since he put on the One Ring.

In Unfinished Tales it is also said that ""It was not until two long ages more had passed, when at last all that she had desired in her youth came to her hand, the Ring of Power and the dominion of Middle-earth of which she had dreamed, that her wisdom was full grown and she rejected it, and passing the last test departed from Middle-earth for ever." Not THE test, the LAST test.

I still think they should’ve spent less per episode and made 12 episodes to tell a better conclusive story. Season one felt so rushed. I don’t know why it’s a trend now to only make 6 or 8 episodes per season. I get quality over quantity, but it’s only quality if the story is good.

And according to several people who have read much more from the lore than just The Lord of the Rings, there is not much the creators added which really contradicts the lore. They might have changed the timeline of the events, but that had to happen if you try to tell three thousand years of history in one TV show. The huge advantage of this show is that Tolkien did not wrote much about this era. You may not remember this but when the movies came out there were many fans who hated them because of the many (unnecessary) changes Peter Jackson made. If you do not believe me then watch the videos made by Nerd of the Rings or Middle-earth daily about the show. Thye really know what they are talking about.

@TheJetstream10 No that’s not the Witch King of Angmar since it would mean that all the rings have been forged and 16 of the 19 would’ve have been taken by Sauron already (remember the elves hid away the other 3 when they figured out what was going on) then Sauron would’ve have “gifted” 9 of those rings to the “mortal Human Kings, doomed to die” turning them into Nazgûl and servants to Sauron of Which the Witch King was their leader (the Nazgûl). Now mind you the corruption took many years considering when the actual rings were forged til when the Nazgûl became Wraiths……….. and by the way the Witch King of Angmar doesn’t even reappear til the middle of the 3rd Age………. So if anything you are looking at some “new shitty” character introduced by Amazon because the whole writing team lacks any writing ability whatsoever……… 😉 And you’re probably better off just reading JRR Tolkien’s masterpiece novels instead of watching some crappy fanficton produced by a bunch of “hacks” pretending to be even remotely competent at writing or directing or producing or even acting ……... 🤨

They are compositing and compressing time and space and characters, so it's a good shot this is the Witch King in early form, as terrible as that might be. Why make up a horrible new character when Amazon could take the Witch King and do what they want with him?

I'm excited and won't be making any preliminary assessments based on trailers. Despite its weaknesses, I liked the first season, especially Sauron's part and the depiction of dwarf society, whereas the elves looked very strange. And I'm glad that the legends of Middle-earth are being continued, despite some very freely interpreted details.

Maybe their just following Peter's blueprint for the trilogy and noticed that the difference between Peter's The Hobbit CGI created ones and the trilogies can't be re-created using technology. I know the Lord of The Rings books and movies were written with a more mature audience in mind vs the The Hobbit. IMO the CGI just made them look less real and almost cartoony

When the plot armor for some characters is so heavy the idea of danger isn't all too scary.

​@@falkon7832S1 plot was rushed, it had a lot of boring characters that went nowhere, barely any good action and the acting of the main lead was very dry. The creation of mount doom and the aftermath was a joke. The rings were literally made in a 10 min montage. Sauron reveal felt like actual fanfiction. But of course, me and millions of others who didn't like the show are simply toxic fans who are just hating for the sake of hating. I've heard it all before.

​@@falkon7832Since you want facts: - Only a good third of the people who watched S1 on Prime, actually finished it - There's almost no positive reviews about the show on YT, yet there's loads of popular videos that properly critique the writing, acting, directing - All the trailers are heavely disliked, which you dont see with other fantasy shows like House of the Dragon for example - Season 1 didn't win any awards

And "Galdriel" will have a psychotic breakdown 😅

Will this Galadriel be able to perform a spell? A poisonous apple with a sleeping enchantment is the minimum requirement for this role 😅

@@falkon7832 Most people hated rings of power and this trailer keeps getting ratio'd in the dislikes to the point where they had to reset the dislikes. No, Amazon and KZread are doing what they factual and probably done before and censored negativity, just like they censored IMDb reviews. With audiences hating this shit as much as they did there's no way it's getting this much positivity.

It’s almost like I read about Frodo and Samwise (and Gollum) trying get through Torech Ungol to get into Mordor to get to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring and even saw it in the Peter Jackson movie, though it happens in Two Towers in the books but Return in the movies……. Sooooooo been there, done that….. soooo not sure why you would be “so excited” for this………. Cheap knockoff of that……….. 😉

​@@bkh8528Isildur builds Minas Ithil literally right next to the pass over Ephel Duath. It totally makes sense that he might have chosen that spot because he had experience going over the pass. At the period of time portrayed in TROP, Shelob has been living there, so why not show one of Tolkiens characters. These are all interpretations that easily slot into the source material.

As a book reader, to me I see countless references to the lore. I too would love to see every little bit of lore exactly 1:1, however I don't think that would make for the most consumable show.

As much as we all adore the LOTR movies, there are countless deviations PJ and team made to the lore and in some case completely altered the story Tolkien actually wrote so as to make parts of it almost silly and unrecognisable to the source material.11 Tolkien adaptations have been brought to screen (TROP is 11th, LOTR was the 9th) and every single one has had deviations from source material. TROP is not special on this regard, on the contrary this is banal and expected.

@@AsimovVibes Lotr is a strange concept to bring to live action back in the day so the fact that they were able to do that AND follow the lore is a proof that ROP can do the same, I know that PJ left things out such as Tom bombadil, the sacking of the Shire and many other lore bits, he did it because that was the only way to create the trilogy with reasonabale time i guess. What PJ didn't do is change the order of events or even the lore just like we currently see in ROP, at the end of the day i do hope that i will be wrong and they will surprise me because i really like many things in the show!

@@morrgash I think the time compression really messed up RoP. Like they have characters who are not suppose to meet up , and yet they ( Amazon) made them to meet each other in tv show. For example afaik from the books, Galadriel never set foot on Numenor and is not supposed to meet Tar Miriel. Galadriel meeting Tar-Miriel 3000 years before she was born in Numeror is a bit too much., and I'm refering to Tar-Miriel since she was born at the end of the second age, and the show preceded the forging of the rings of power. So Tar-Miriel wasn't born at this time, and the Elves were banned from Numeror just before her birth. Also Celebrimbor was alive during the events of the show. After the Rings were forged and he made the one he was beaten to death by Sauron with his own hammer made of mithril. During the show mithril isn't even discovered until episode 4 in season 1. So... The show is just very very far away from being accurate or even slightly canon I do agree that ROP did change the order of events, and I also think they had too much freedom doing unnecessary changes in RoP. In PJ LoTR the changes imho are warranted and was able to give you that Tolkien tone ( through their scripts, dialogs, action, visuals both from CGI and practical effects, and also from the sound and music score). I don't see/feel that Tolken tone in RoP unfortunately. I remember watching the interview of the showrunners back then in season 1, and they said about creating a story that Tolkien never wrote which to me is simply saying about creating a made up story with Tolkien name tag on it just to attract viewers ( which usually end up being a Tolkien fans , not just normies).

Script writers are seldom included in behind the scenes material for any show or film. When was the last time you saw that? I haven't seen the writers behind Oppenheimer, House of the Dragons, Dark, Fallout, to name a few. Sometimes you see the producers and directors being interviewed, which we have for Rings of Power as well.

Say all you want of the series (I didn't ejnjoy it that much myself), but the effort put in every aspect of its production value by every single membre of the team is extrordinary. Really remarkable.

The best part was when Galadriel was smiling.

At moments like this, I blink back a few tears, too proud to let them fall, and ask myself... "How sparsely-populated will Morfydd Clark's and Sophia Nomvete's IMDB pages be after the dust is settled and Amazon's The Rings of Power has faded from both mirth and memory?"

It looks fantastic. I hope in the next trailer we will _finally_ see Cirdan!
