The World was a so adorable with all the Fellowship together. I really liked that image.

The world card is beautiful. When you think of how much they went through and how much they lost, that card kind of makes me cry.

I agree. That card stood out to me.

I knew this was going to be pip because both of Tomas Hijo's other decks are also pip. But I love it. I don't mind pip decks at all. I like using numerology to read the cards instead of the traditional RWS meanings, I find them great for that. I just don't know how I feel about the "guidebook". Kind of annoying having to constantly open that paper thing.

Yeah I was hoping the topic of this deck would mean more expansive imagery. Nothing wrong with a pip, but omg there's so much to pull from with this series that I was left disappointed ❤️

Oh I'm so glad you reviewed the whole deck. I was all for it till minor cards. I agree, there is soo much content to draw from. MTG just finished creating 400 cards depicting unique scenes from LOTR.

I felt exactly like you did on this deck, I got this Christmas just passed and yes it was the rings the minor cards , it lacked everything that should off been 😢

I was loving it till the pips cards.

I like how they made ace of oentacles a ring it can mean an engagement either I like the wheel of fortune card

Enjoyed the unboxing. I like the deck and the artwork. The idea of the fold out map is a great idea. But I really wish they would have included a way to get a pdf version. It is annoying to have to unfold it for readings.

The minor arcana cards and the box for lord of the rings does remind me of the other tarot deck from labyrinth

DAMMIT Insight Editions!!! For some reason this deck never hit my radar when it came out. Two of my biggest obsessions collide with this deck, but I'm seriously on the fence with the pips. They're just such a let-down. I just reviewed the Buffy deck, and the full illustrations were a welcome surprise. Again I say, DAMMIT Insight Editions!!! There is a Russian artist that is illustrating a LOtR deck and it's GORGEOUS! I'll cross my fingers for that one.

This deck could have been so much more, the artwork is so beautiful and original but then those pip cards 😭 For someone like me who is still learning tarot I rely heavily on my perception of the images and the colors and this deck just wouldn't do it for me. They could have done so much with this, for the 10 of cups it could have been Sam and Rosie and their kids, for the 9 of wands they could have done frodo and Sam on their way to Mordor, for the 2 of swords they could have done galadriel choosing whether she takes the ring or not, I could go on and on but for such beautiful artwork to not bring it all the way home seems such a shame. I like the style of the imagry but I dont think it is a practical deck, clearly in the majors, number 8 is strength following the RWS but the pips follow the marseille style, I guess it's an easier way to do it. I really like the marseille tarot he created for the Nightmare Alley

I love the style but I hate how the minor arcana is so simple when there could be so much more. I’m planning on getting it when it’s discounted 😂

Thank you for the walk through; I won’t be getting this deck but enjoyed seeing the cards. I liked most of the majors but as you said, the minors were a missed opportunity with such a rich series of books and symbols to draw from. The little white book being a fold out pamphlet would drive me crazy! 🙄

I like the deck, don't mind the pips too much, but I hate the huge folding leaflet thing. It is too vulnerable. It will definitely get damaged after a few uses. Bad idea.

Aww, what a bummer 😞. I was so looking forward to this one. They just couldn't (or wouldn't?) bring it all the way home.

Bummer... such a great story to have a deck with! I was all excited until you hit the 2 of rings and I went - crap.... not for me. I do wish other decks would reduce the packaging waste like this did! No plastic wrap or ring on the deck works for me. The content of the guidebook looked thought provoking despite the pip cards.

Could you cut that pamphlet and staple it together or no? Shame cuz their books are usually so nice. I get the theme but geez 🤪😂 I think Tomas Hijo’s artwork is stunning but I don’t like any of the decks 😫 Damn it! I was hoping this would be the one.

No, i dont think you can't cut it because of how it's printed front and back.

Thanks I almost bought this because it was on sale but the simplicity of the suits is really disappointing.

I like the cardstock of this series. I don't mind pips, but it's selling for $27 and previous ones were around $15-20, which I can handle. I hesitate dishing out $27 for simple pips.

Thanks for your video. I was going to buy one but now I won't. The numbering cards are just plain awful. Hope the company will redesign them in the future.

I feel your pain. Seeing the majors and court cards had me like, "BUY BUY BUY!". Then seeing the minors had me like, "🙄☹"

The art is beautiful, but I was expecting something more artsy for the Rings Minor Arcana. 😕

I didn’t follow the Lord of the Rings series but my husband and sons did. In reference to the deck, I can read with pips but much prefer a Fully illustrated tarot deck. 🙃🙃 Part of my enjoyment of the deck is all the artwork. That’s drastically reduced in a pip style deck. Thanks for the walkthrough. 💜💜💜

I felt the same way about the Skyrim Tarot done by Insight. Again, I love how the major arcana are done but the pips feel like a wasted opportunity to tell such a rich story with the lore. I don't mind pip decks but I expect more when it is lore I'm invested in. The eight of swords is great, it doesn't need to be fully illustrated (imo). I won't be getting this one either, such a shame, I love the style and don't have an issue with the foldout guidebook thing they have going on.

I like Marseilles and pip decks, but I just wish he'd fill up the cards with ornamentation. Except for some of the cups, most of the pip cards are just too naked. The majors and court are filled with imagery, then the pips are so barren. I have one of his decks, but I won't be getting any of his other decks.

I'm not a fan of the lord of the rings movies, I watched them, had some fun passing the time watching them but at the same time found them pretentious and a much less interesting Harry Potter style fantasy, I'm aware that's not a popular opinion, but I just found the "heroes" and villains incredibly bland and it's all very "over-acted". I did get the tarot deck as I liked the style of deck, but I haven't used it at all, I have many in my collection, (Tarot del Toro is a brilliant deck and I didn't mind those pips), but here none of the images look like the characters, I don't know who half of them are, the pips don't seem to be very cohesive here and are jarring compared to the major arcana and court cards, I don't care much for booklets in decks so that doesn't matter to me, but the pull-out pamphlet thing just doesn't make sense and most people wouldn't open, the deck just seems a bit like much ado about nothing, it falls flat, it seems a bit of a waste of time and effort, a bit like a cash-grab like many tarot decks based around movies and series, the only one thats ever got it right that I've seen is Game Of Thrones Tarot.

Was holding my breath for the minor ..... And ngl...I almost flipped the table 😂😂😂😂😂😂 though it was kind of expected, I still had a teeny tiny hope for it to be at least semi illustrated... I love this type of artwork... I agree. Not happy with the pips. Too much imagery, learnings & many characters to work with in Lotr to make minors. Agreed, not enough work put in. Even if the minors were reinterpreted away from RWS, i wouldn't mind but there should be imagery from the books or even movies. Disappointed. & Guide book should be in book format. This one- too much space occupying.

The box is stunning. The backs are beautiful. The woodcut sort of art is very fitting. The pip is a major letdown. The foldout--I get they were going for a map-type thing but it doesn't work. There are not only three books for LOTRs, they could have even grabbed from Silmarillion lore and The Hobbit and I'd still been so pleased. There's no excuse for this to be a pip deck! As a major LOTRs fan, I'm extremely disappointed. Another half-assed attempt. They give us gorgeous majors and then turn this into a money grab instead of a labor of love. They should know better given how hardcore LOTRs fans are.

The moment I heard insight editions I already knew what was coming 😅 Seems almost all the decks they do are pips and while I don't mind the occasional pip deck, I prefer fully illustrated decks and have no need for another pip deck. Especially one where the pips are as simplistic and barren as they are here. The 8 of swords was nice and more in the deck should have been like this at least. It seems an especially big waste for this deck. Lotr is one of the forefathers of the fantasy genre as we know it and almost no other fictional world has as much history and lore to it as lotr has. If there was ever a need for one of these pop culture decks to be fully illustrated, the lotr deck is the one.

Hi Natasha! I like The Hermit card the best honestly. I was very intrigued and interested in this deck until you got to the 2 of rings and then it was a big instant NOPE! It's SO disappointing, too! Because like you said, about how there's the books with so many scenes and details and such that they could easily have chosen from and figured out how to depict them in the minor arcana instead of only taking the easy way out and just doing pips. Especially with this deck after seeing the wonderful and detailed major arcana and the court cards! When you hit those minors it's just so glaringly plain and nothing to really pique the intuition. Ugh! Sadly, with all of that said, this deck is a hard pass for me. :(
