He is the second Chorister Composer of these British Isles - the other one is Sir John Stainer of 1840 to 1901

I can't believe he can write such beautiful Christian music and be an atheist.

When I listen to this song i feel heaven on earth... Its such a blessing.

As I was feeling some very old and deep emotional pain this evening, this song suddenly popped into my mind. Many years ago, I had sang it at a friend's wedding. I googled it and found this most beautiful performance. How powerful the Lord can minister His peace through it ...

I am at peace listening to such beautiful hymns in the early hours of a cold clear African night.

Sweet, melodic and pure. Rutter is always a joy to listen to and sing. The Anglican musical tradition is something I greatly admire.

John Rutter is one. of the greatest gifts Britain has given the world.

I am an adventist Christian but have full respect for other Christian churchs and religion; Its incredibly spectacular how a single hym Can unite us all towards God, despite our differences

The words "and give you peace", repeated four times, was deeply touching.. I am reminded of an old German saint and quoting her as I remember what she said. "The world mocks our joy and scoffs at our love but it envies our peace."

This is truly beautiful. I am not religious, but how can anyone not be moved by this wonderful music, and boys with voices like angels. It was played on the entrance to my father's funeral (during the first lockdown, only 10 of us allowed). The men have wonderful voices too of course.

Religion won't get you into heaven. Only Jesus Christ and a personal relationship with him alone can do that. So it's not about religion, it's about salvation.

@@MeadeSkeltonMusic I'm not looking into getting to heaven, or to be 'saved' thanks very much. I just love this beautiful music.My friend moved to North Carolina, and her 16 year old daughter was quite scared by how much everyone wanted to 'save' her. Each to their own please.

This has been a favorite of mine since I sang it in several choirs throughout my teenage and young adult years. The lyrics came to my mind tonight as I struggle to find peace in a chaotic, suffering world. "And give you peace..."

Ditto. I sang it with a choir years ago. I went to church today and a recording of it was played during communion. I sang it from start to finish then started crying afterwards. Good memories 😊

The acoustics for this recording were very good. Other choirs singing this hymn are hard to hear due to bad audio. The purity of the high notes of these boys - Bellissimo!

I sang alto to this song in the national catholic youth choir camp in Minnesota. It was literally the best thing ever; it was the highlight of my summer for sure.

We need this TODAY during the Covid pandemic and also during all the unrest in our beautiful country, an unrest which threatens to tear down our statues and destroy our beloved traditions.

Brings tears to my eyes..😢..very soulful song...May God bless us all...coming from a Roman Catholic Christian and a British Monarchy fan...❤

Never heard this choir before, this is so good and relaxing🥺the way they sing is amazing, can listen to this over and over.

WOW if human choirs can sound like this, imagine what angelic choirs sound like.

I used to be in a large choir and when we sang this, I couldn't imagine that people felt closer to God when they listened to it, than I did singing it! Absolutely heavenly!

I hear the angels singing on high! O what blessing!

What I find most moving is the realisation that this beautiful prayer is being sung for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Before John Rutter it was beautifully arranged in 1900 by Peter Lutkin. For decades it was known as the “Lutkin Amen.”

To the person reading this, you’re absolutely amazing and wonderful! God is SO great! God is SO real!! God bless you!!! God bless everyone!!!❤️❤️❤️

My chamber choir sang this my senior year of high school. Twenty-four years later, here I am, finding a version of it to share with my fiance. The harmonies still give me chills, and it meant--and means--even more since giving my life to the Lord the year before we sang it. So, so beautiful. And those boys... Amazing. Like someone else so aptly said, it's like angels singing.

Eventually I always come back to this. For peace, for strength, for comfort. It is so powerful and yet so soothing. This shall be played on my funeral, as a final treat. ❤️

The words are from Numbers 6:24-26 in the Old Testament. A wonderful composition~! I heard that this was Queen Elizabeth the II's favorite psalm. Thanks for posting.

John Rutter - one of our very best composers. His music is magnificent.

Love speaks far more deeper than thought.

The 296 people who don’t like this....let’s just pray that something comforts them and that they find God’s beauty in creation.

Absolutely beautiful.... goosebumps. When this was performed at the royal wedding today, I was really moved.

I spent two years singing in school choir in the UK back in sixith form, this wonderful hymn brings back all the amazing memories of my teenage period. I miss my highschool and I love british culture

These John Rutter songs are so well done by the Westminster Abbey boys choir, their voices are truly angelic and simply incredible along with the lower mens voices. Who needs a castrati anymore? These guys got it done just fine!

God can use anyone for His purpose; Rutter has the grace to fulfill it. Deep down, I believe Rutter's heart believes, but circumstances led him into doubt. We cannot truly known ANYONE, sometimes, not even ourselves. The same goes for Vaughan Williams. BEAUTIFUL.

My God bless everyone at this time especially those of us with cancer.We will get through this and the world will return to normal. we will go out again and football will start again that is what is keeping me going at this time. We all need hope.

This reminded me of an interview story from Tim Curry. He had gotten a part in a musical stage play and was working with a singing coach. One of the songs had a falsetto part. Curry said, "I'm going to sing it in my normal range. I don't have a falsetto. I can't do it." As they kept working the coach brought it up another time or two. Curry said he got a little snappy with the coach. The next practice, the coach tried again. Same reaction. Then, the coach asked him, "Were you a boy soprano?" Curry: "Well, yes, in fact, I was. What's that got to do with anything?" Coach: "That's why you can't sing it. You're still grieving for that voice." To hear that story from one of the most antic, raunchy Brit singer-actors really rocked my boat.

The suspensions in this piece are just beyond beautiful...

Amen! That is what it is all about - the Good News that will save a soul from a lost eternity. As Christians, we are Chosen to fulfil the scriprure, Matthew 28:18-20 Go into all the world and preach the Gospel, making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost ... Christianity is following Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, the triumphant Victor over death, hell and the grave - (where oh death is thy sting, where oh grave is thy victory?), and developing an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father, through His Son and by His Holy Spirit. As we read God's Word, and listen to His Guidance into His Plan for us each day, we become active in the faith, and God uses us for His Glory. It is, of course, the best life in this world, and Perfect Peace in the next, with all the trimmings. Be an overcomer ... Revelation ch. 20
