Lol!!! 😂 It went around 450’ and Shohei has went up farther in those same bleachers. Just because salmon got excited and said that doesn’t make it the farthest. MANY MLB players say McGwire has hit the farthest. Including Jim Thome himself.

When the Angels got Bo Jackson I was so stoked, every game I went to I just hoped he hit a home run. I think he never hit one at the big A that season but I saw him hit a foul ball out of the stadium.

I live locally to KC and loved going to the K to see Bo. Saw him hit (what seemed to be) a medium depth high fly out to left field. But it just kept going and going till it was about 20 rows deep. Just amazing, never saw anything like it

I still think what WOULD have been the longest ML HR ever hit was by Reggie Jackson in the (1971?) All-star game at the old Tiger Stadium. As soon as Reggie connected, catcher Johnny Bench stood up to watch it rocket away. It was still going UP when it was stopped by a light transformer on the right field roof. It might still be in orbit, had it not been for that transformer. 😅 Just kidding about attaining Earth orbit, but it was a truly remarkable shot.

I've been going to games in Cincinnati since 1979 and although I'm sure Griffey Jr has hit the most that I have seen in person, Adam Dunn has hit the second most and the longest. I saw Dave Parker hit a line drive homer one night and it didn't go really far but , to give an idea of the trajectory of the ball , the 2nd baseman Tom Herr actually started to jump up like he might have a play but the ball cleared the wall at just about the same height as it was going over Herr . It was as if the ball had been fired out of a cannon.

The longest homerun I've ever seen? Back in about 1975 there was a game being played on the local high school field. I believe it was some type of teenage tournament. Anyway, the homerun cleared the centerfield fence (400ft) and hit a car parked behind the fence on the 3rd row. Easily another 75 to 100 feet behind the fence. I estimate it was a 489-500 foot shot. The funny thing was, the batter was only 14!

Yeah the pre-statcast home run distance hyperbole from these old timers is kinda annoying. Mo Vaughn's was hit at such a high launch angle and was basically on its way straight down as it passed above the 371 ft fence. 470 feet max I'd say. Also 580 is very questionable, I'm assuming you're referring to the one over the monster?
