I've been looking for this movie for YEARS! I was shown this movie in English class in HS back in 2012 but my English teacher passed away and we unfortunately never knew the name to the movie, but I finally found it! Rest Easy Ms Murray 👼🏾

i was shown this movie in history class sadly this was the only thing school taught me about slavery/civil rights movement however i was blessed to be raised around black people and black culture people have the nerve too call black children gang bangers and thugs but dont they realize its a vicious cycle through how our government controls the school systems? kids in poverty deserve just as much happiness/blessings any other child should receive Yes i could have been making more money being a graphic designer but why? when i can help young teens in poverty learn what i did in college all they need is work samples for their portfolios anyways-- my teacher said you can be a good graphic designer without stepping foot in college so that's what I am aiming for to help children whom cant afford too pay back student loans GOD takes care of me i got a roof over my head ( i dont need a fancy hom) l; i have a way to and from ( i dont need a fancy car) ; GOD takes care of everything i need in my life so i give back too the community

the fact that they would show this in highschool is HORRIFIC... a movie that depicts all white ppl as weak , backstabbing, and racist and all black ppl as upright honest church goers..... This is a movie for adults at best.... but to show a kid this is piling on racist beliefs about white people...

I watched this movie today I never seen it before . I thank god my mother taught me we’re all the same no matter what our skin color was . I grew up with a maid , this movie brought memories back but no way did I grow up in a prejudice family . Back in the sixties every home had a maid . I loved our maid and not once was she treated badly ever my mother made sure of thst and I respected her and my mother . I was getting really upset watching this movie and the way they treated them.

well, i'm probably going to watch this. it's going to hurt me. it's going to make me feel ashamed for the entire human race. and it's going to make me cry. but it will also remind me of why its important to do the right thing and open my mouth when i see an injustice being done to someone simply because their skin is a few shades darker than mine.

@A man of Vision Whoopi had more character development than Octavia and especially Viola. They were only shown as maids, you got to see Whoopi and her family. Also there is no cringe worthy ‘you is kind, you is smart’ scene to a white child like in ‘The Help’!

I'm sure this is a worthwhile, well-meaning film, but I'd like to think they wouldn't allow the 'n-word' in a trailer these days. It must be extremely uncomfortable for many people to hear that word whilst sitting through the 'coming soon' previews.

My Social Studies teacher showed us this and I get what you're saying but we didn't feel uncomfortable it was just showing what really happened back then. In fact the acting was so superb that it felt like we really were all taking a real life peek into a day in Montgomery for those 2 hrs.

@@ajsimmons3288 I certainly don't object to using such authentic language in the actual film. In fact, as upsetting as it can be, I appreciate the authenticity and honesty. It's hearing it during the 'Coming Attractions' that I question. Assuming this trailer accompanied other films, it might have been jarring to hear it during the previews. The people who market the trailers don't have to include the most upsetting moments.
