We really enjoy your videos. Not only do we get to enjoy your artist's eye in your choice of shots, you let us see the canal with a forward-view camera while you talk to us in voice over. Too many canal vloggers seem to think they have to be talking to the camera as they go alone, not allowing us the canal views. I'd say that your videos are some of the very best produced on KZread. Excellent video again. A beautiful county is Wiltshire I was born at RAF Colerne situated between Bath and Chippenham in 1961. And as a family we moved up north when I was six. I always jokingly said that Colerne lost its village idiot when I moved. But now I can proudly call myself a Moonraker, a term I never knew existed. Thanks for educating me. See you next time. :-)

I did notice that, I passed it many times, but sadly it was only open on Friday nights and I was never there on a Friday. I know they had a 6x plaque next to the door, but don't know if they still sold it. I believe The Anchor never reopened after covid

The Queen's Head at Stoke Pound on the Worcester-Birmingham is very nice.

You're welcome Brian, and many thanks for your support. It's a beautiful canal with much to offer - despite the hard graft. I've found the bad reputation it has with boaters around the country to be unfounded. The canal community is certainly unique .

Thanks Ronald, Wootton Rivers to Bath is definitely the best section with plenty of historical interest. And as for the pint - savour and enjoy. I gave up alcohol 9 months ago so sadly I won't ever have another one...

@@talesfromtheswansneck my legs are doing good. The snow storms have slowed way down. My cataracts are suppose to get fixed mid February. Then I’ll be able to see your videos much better…at least that’s the hope….leaving comments will be easier also. It’s a wonder comments make sense at all.

Just catching up on some missed vlogs. I’m going to be putting off my trip to the K&A for another year. Too many things to sort out that require me to stop moving 🙄 I think if that had been my boat being lifted, I might have sent them packing!

Well the K&A is well worth the trip when you finally get here - it's a to of hard graft though.

It’s really good to see you back to pretty regular postings. I’ve been a follower since early days and really enjoy your videos. This one was a welcome vicarious vacation on a day where it’s -4 Fahrenheit where I am.

Wow you made my day. I grew up just outside of Salisbury and remember the white horse on the hill. I am considering moving back to live on a narrow boat. The cost of living in Australia is so high, it's hard to have any type of life, when you are on a restricted income. There are so many people buying boats to live on in the UK and some areas seem to be ridiculously busy. In a few years time, can you see it becoming too busy to enjoy a quiet lifestyle?

Pleased it was a trip down memory lane for you Alison. Yes boat prices are rocketing (up about 35% in the last two years), but much of that was due to the pandemic and brexit, so people bought because they couldn't see themselves holidaying abroad. You'll find it busy in areas where house prices and rental costs are high, like London, The K&A, and Oxford. The Llangollen canal is also busy during the holiday season. Many of the midland and northern canals aren't too bad though, and it's still easy to find a peaceful mooring. I don't really see this changing.

Thanks so much Andrew and after a few more watches of the narrow boat channels, I'm wondering if I could manage the locks now, let alone at 70, but could live in a marina I guess. Some of the locks, those deep horrible ones, where you have to climb down a slippery ladder, look scary. I guess I could put a call out for a crew once in a while, or can you buy pass those big ones? They seem to be in certain spots?

@@alisongalloway1455 Firstly I'd say working the locks keeps you fit, and too be honest it's not as difficult as it looks, I'm sure you'd be able to cope. Secondly, there are often other boaters around who are only to happy to help. If you really don't think you could manage the locks then you could choose to live on a canal where the locks are few and far between. The Ashby canal springs to mind, 22 miles long and not a lock in sight.

@@alisongalloway1455 Hi Alison, Reverie is 53 foot, so a medium sized boat. Unfortunately I don't do boat tours partly for security reasons, but also because I value my privacy, I hope you understand.

Hi, I watched the movie Painted Boats last night, as you know it gives a lot information and history about the glory days of narrow boating, most of which I wasn't aware of. May it would be idea to leave a link on your site for your readers. Excellent video, as always.

There was a lot of boats moored with their back end sticking out years ago due to lack of dredging.lt all added to the rural charm.Favourite pub - The Barbridge lnn on the Shroppie.

Cheers Tony, all I can say is I'm glad most of the network is dredged these days. I've moored opposite the Barbage Inn, didn't go in though.

Oh the excitement!. I do hope you make it all the way - or should I say 'made' it all the way (I can see you're not publishing these things in real-time. Maybe just getting round to editing and posting during these cold, bleak wintery months. Can't argue with that). I read Physics at the University of Bath back in the day, long, long ago, and have fond memories of rowing skiffs along the river up around Bathampton. On the river that is, not the canal that runs more or less parallel to the river. Wadworth's 6X, yes. Well worth the 30-year wait. That and the local scrumpy houses out in the country. Traveling back home to deepest Essex, I used to pass a potato farm with a regularly updated pun-based road sign. "Essex for Potatoes, and Devices for Chippenham" was my fave. I've a video nearly ready which I was hoping to get uploaded last weekend but we had bad storms so that kind of waylaid that plan. I should be able to get something up this week. If it was in good condition. From what I hear their hulls are more prone to corrosion, and many of them aren't as thick as a flat bottomed hull, so if you're thinking of buying one spend money on an independent hull survey
